w-hat is at it again... ugly builds

yes! well put O, I think those chumps who block telehub access are far more annoying and offensive than anything w-hat has done that i've seen anyway!...

It isn't their builds i object to but the fact that 5 people TPed directly into the spa last night to cause trouble, being verbally abusive and disruptive to our mild mannered little game of truth or dare. One of the five repeatedly punched the machine so that it droned incessantly, another made extremely homophobic remarks and spoke in an offensive manner to me in a way I would happily recount for you one on one. daz, I bought your art and hung out with you once in my alt. If you knew my alt, and I may well reveal that to you, you would know for sure that i'm not against freedom of expression. I am pro NEA funding, and have been on the record in this forum advocating funding for arts and culture, even when one personally doesn't like the art in question. What I experienced from the W-hat group was not provocative art or behaviour, but behaviour that was simply rude and trying to suck up every bit of attention the way that a child does when a child needs attention and doesn't get it from neglectful parents. This is the behaviour I encountered, and Yes. A Linden was called only after the group was asked to leave, quite civilly, was ejected, and banned and kept somehow coming back again and again. When I am asked to go, I go. These folks were clearly out to start trouble. I am for provocative art, even disturbing art, but utterly against rudeness for the sake of rudeness.

I so didn't mean to be offensive to you P-Luv, really, maybe the w-hat people ARE all griefers *smells the pimple cream in the air* and I've only seen their funny and provocative side and not the twerpy side. I have been known to be wrong before, no please sit down, and apologise for any offence to you personally, I know you are the type of people that make SL so exhilirating for me. I've been on the recieving end of criticism from the mainstream for most of my life and might have jumped to their defence out of reflex rather than knowledge. I do so love the so called 'ugly' builds and the pope mobile thing though, there is waaay too much 'little old lady tea party' in SL we need weirdness, RacerX Gullwing can't do it all by himself haha!! *hugs*

I keep a stall in the Arcolith Project more or less so I have an excuse to check out Baku every so often; while individual W-Hats might be jerks, so can individuals anywhere else; as a group they seem to stick to the principle of doing no real harm. Sorry, an ugly build isn't "harm", or half the land barons in the game are griefers just on account of the "for sale" signs.

Heh.. I've been to Baku several times, and I rather like the disordered cacophony builds they have there. It's like someone riped a schizophrenic's skull open and pours the twisted crap within it into a 3D modelling program and out came.. ..Baku. ^.^

Please note that here I am speaking of behaviour and not people. I love being creative. So much that I sponsor events to get others to be creative. Group Storytelling, scener's competitions, and Art shows are all things I have been part of. Daz, I helped with publicity for the show you had your art shown at and helped by staffing the closing event. Likely, it was even me that let you know it was coming up and to please submit your art. I love creativity and fun expression.

Creativity is great. Just annoying people and laughing together at the joy of the experience of bullying other folks isn't great. It is sad. Having a group of people with w-hat and silly hat tags come by and grief your property by shouting nonsequitors, interfering with the objects to make them talk incessently, and be generally offensive for no fun purpose is all about one thing: bullying. It is a way to say we can get together and annoy one another for our own amusement and it is okay because we are more important than everyone else. It is a kind of smug superiority at work there. I get to annoy you for my kicks because I deserve happiness at the expense of yours. It's pretty damn warped and misguided.

Pranks between friends is one thing. People mutually laugh and enjoy it afterward. Having people you don't know come by and make a group that was happily enjoying itself beforehand uncomfortable enough that 4 different people are saying in IM to the host "Ban these people" is a totally different thing. It was rudeness for the sake of rudeness that we experienced from members of W-hat and Silly Hats. If W-hat is about provocative fun for everyone not just themselves at the EXPENSE of everyone, then i'm all for it. Doesn't seem to me that that is the case. What I hear from repeated threads in the forums is that members of this group target people and then begin being abusive to them in the exact way you have noted before (the whole brother punching you in the back seat then claiming not to be touching you but hovering ever so near to you so as to intimate that he will at any moment). The way you expressed it even brings to mind the immaturity of a little child. I like SL because it is 18+. If I wanted to be punched by a child in the back seat of a car, I'd be playing TSO. Children who have been given the requisite love and attention from their parents don't have to resort to bullying in order to feel satisfied. Perhaps the members of these groups should consider counselling if Bullying is a behaviour they feel the need to engage in. das Grosshomme, if you are already a member of this group, maybe you can influence them by challenging their bullying tactics. If little old ladies (who have put up with kids a damn long time and can use a break if they want one) wanna have tea parties, and the W-hatters don't like it, they certainly don't have to attend them. To say, however, that the W-hatters and Silly Hatters should be able to disrupt the tea parties and insult the old ladies is awful. Let them do their own thing without bullying. To Each His or Her Respective Own seems to be a damn good way to live. Bullying is not nor should it be considered the same thing as creativity. It does not create, it destroys.
