Hate speech on Second Life partner sites

Show me where I call anyone "asshole" and I will edit it.

It is also one difference between talking about "whores" and calling somebody "whore". There is difference between working as tea house girl and what is generally refered to "whore", but I don't think this is the right place and time to go into detail here. And you continuing to suggest that I would intentionally use racial slander against black people is typical for what you try since months: turning lies and half truths into fact by relentless repetition. Sometimes this is called "slander". Sometimes it is called "propaganda". Neither is good and both are not worth my time. I am off to work.

On this thread one resident raises questions of what constitutes "hate speech". He tries to get me "nailed" for one ironic statement that I made in direct response to one culturally supremacist slur directed at me. In fact my statement by use of irony was directed exactly against the kind of attitute and language that he tried to attribute to me.

Motivated by his great concern for the Second Life forum TOS and proper language I decided to take a look at his own website. The person in question operates SLUniverse.com, a website that has received active marketing support by Linden Lab. Some of its services such as Snapzilla can be found prominently featured on the first page of Secondlife.com and seemlessly integrated with the Second Life marketing look and feel.

On this website I have found a new thread where the operator of the site not only slanders me with false rumors (or lies?). In relation to accusations posted there feel free to refer to my newly started Anshe-Rumors Reference.

What upsets me is that he also posts private IM conversations without my permission and uses the following vocabulary to describe my person:

"shit"
"whore"
"bully"
"predatory snake"
"blow job instructor"
"asshole"

In addition he insults my religious feelings with the term

"fucking god"

He uses insulting adjectives such as

"fake"
"manipulative"
"arrogant"
"lying"
"cheating"

And the following term has been directed at me by another poster and has not been moderated:

"bitch"

I have tried to bring this to the attention of Linden Lab staff and abuse team several times. However, my inquiries have not lead to the removal of the harassing content from this partner site. My latest e-mail to the person responsible for marketing at Linden Lab still remains unanswered.

I understand that Linden Lab can not police each and every fansite on the internet. However, it would reflect greatly on Linden Lab if websites that are integrated with Second Life's marketing would not be used by their owner to slander other Second Life residents calling them "shit", "whore" and "asshole". As such I hope Linden Lab will use its influence to adequately protect its customers on the Web spaces it promotes.

While I disagree on stirring up the vocal minority in the forums here to rally support, Anshe, I'm more than happy to post my $0.02 on this issue.

First of all, people are welcome to agree or disagree with Anshe's (or "your" depending on reader) methods as they please - the case to be made is actually quite irrelevant. I'll readily admit, for example, to openly mocking Anshe-as-land-baron in private IMs and jest - but most of my experiences, and land sales, through her have been quite positive. Just setting the books straight.

However, public libel is another case entirely. Free speech is, indeed, not completely free as the law sees it - and this is one perfect example of that.

The first question becomes, then, whether a resident (as opposed to "just Anshe" has the right to not have defamatory and false statements made publicly available about them on sites in affiliation with Linden Labs. To this, I would say yes.

However, the second question is whether Linden Labs has sufficient leverage and affiliation to end the problem. This is a more difficult question.

In my opinion, though, LL can very easily make a statement to the site in question that, "If you do not remove public, defamatory, and false claims about residents from your site, we will remove all links and publicized information leading to your site from our database." While potentially a draconian move on LL's part, and one that I can't see as highly likely, it's the most fair case to make and easiest to leverage in this scenario.

For my part, I'll see if I can get a stance from LL on this sort of thing personally. LL is not in the business of policing opinions as I see it, but if the case can be made that this constitutes libel, things change dramatically.

After a very thorough grammatical examination I have concluded that pandastrong is Anshe's alt!!! (This is humor obviously)

Hate speech:

I hate onions. I really despise them. Mainly because they overcome the taste of the food they are combined with, rather than accenting it.

I always thought hate speech was more like, "I hate onions and you should too, and this is why:

- they take all our jobs.
- they're immoral.
- they aren't the same religion as us.
- they make us cry.

See, I was gonna make a joke about peeling the yellow skin off an onion to get to the white part beneath the surface...but that sounds racist even to me and I'm talking about a friggin onion!!! God we are such a lame race.

I hate humans and everyone else should too! They kill everything around them, they pollute and destroy the planet and they breed faster than rabbits.
