Like I'm the first to cover your billboards? umm no. There were others before me, even when it was in Hawthorn before ;) I did see that the other residents decorated the boards yesterday though. Nice touch guys!
People just dont like them as you can see in other threads but since you 2 find it hard to keep your facts straight I'm sure you'll see it a totally different way.

Has nothing to do with the billboards, has everything to do with you. Like I said before in this thread, I didn't build the wall, etc. I just joined in this argument because I know how unfair you are and everyone has had it, we're fed up with your violation of the ToS. If it was about the billboards, how come there are at least a dozen other people who would and have come on this thread agreeing that you are out of control, people that don't own, run, operate, or even like the billboards. Stick to the real matter at hand, you.

As for your land Rathe, which you claim you havent been able to get to for 2 months, I've seen you there with a box on your chest. :D Not sure what that was all about but it's a lovely accessory. However, you shouldnt lie because it suits your needs at the moment. And I'm sure you can get to all those little pieces of land you ran around buying up just to put banishers on the other night too :)

Just because I can "go to it" doesn't mean I can stay on it. Don't play dumb. Anyone can teleport anywhere, doesn't mean they won't get ejected 1 second later. Which when it is on their land, is ILLEGAL. We specifically had a Linden tell us so on the phone and remove your banishers at one point and now they are back (surprise surprise).

Wow, you're so insightful Billie. Well I guess we've all learned our lesson for the day and will skip off to our first life and bow down to you happily ever after. Get real.

Just adding...

In a situation such as this where, both parties cannot agree on who did what to the other. The governing athority should step in and give punishment to both. Its only fair.

Personaly I do not see what the big deal is with Rathe's Billboards. Compared to what used to be put up as a billboard, they are great! I mean they look nice and do not interupt your second life in any way unless you take and interest in it.

finally, what this should come down to is you guys solving this on your own, whether is takes arguing or not. Just talk about it and work something out.

See now i must thank you Billie for the chuckle because your post was as you put it too funny. Once again classic Billie comes into play.. and everything is everyone else's fault and you take no responsiblity for anything you've done. You can call ppl lairs all you want.. but i've seen you in action and have even been on the end of it..You tell truths so it makes you look like the innocent party and that you've done nuthing wrong even when you have. If thats how you like living life hey whatever makes you happy sweetie you stay in your land of delusions. As for skipping off to this imaginary first life you claim you have.. when your not in SL quiet so often and stop getting your kicks outta making others ppl playing time as miserable as you possibly you can. then you skip off to this first life in whatever patronizing, i'm better than everyone else way. until then save your holy than thou attutide until that time.

Well if you feel that way about the billboards, I'm sure they could oblige you by throwing a few up in Darkwoods, too.

We've actually discussed this a bit, along with some of the other themed sims. Problem is, they're just that, themed. However, keep your eyes open, maybe the future holds a few surprises from us!

We have never, EVER, built any part of our billboards on anyone's land but our own. The reverse, however, is not true, we've had many people move objects on top of our land.

Thank you,

The Management.

I'm really kind of mixed about the billboards; as Schwartz and others have commented, they're really quite well put together and themselves visually NOT offensive, but they really do drive some people nuts. There has to be some way to place them so that they serve both the public and advertisers while providing an adequate return to the investors.
Having looked at both sides of the issue, I still think they are an evil, but maybe a necessary one. The way that businesses come and go and move about, landmarks are pretty much a very short-lived aid to navigation. A lot of newbs have commented on how helpful the billboards have been to them in exploring SL. It would have been nice if maybe "flight paths" had been established - low height, low tax corridors where you could fly along without bumping into everything higher than ten meters or so, delineated by strategically placed billboards - the same way a highway would be in RL.

I like the idea of flight paths. They could be used as a way of making everyone happy.
My knowledge of scripting is very limited but would it be possible to script an object you could wear to guide you between sensor points at a certain speed and hight? This would make an automatic road system.
Such a road system would have many benefits.

1. A way to guide people through the sims

2. traffic flow through specific spots too help increase commercial ventures.

3. Lower traffic residental areas

4. A preferred area in which to build billboards and advertising.

A sim that choose to have a roadway built through it would benefit from increase traffic and one of the trade offs would be billboards along the roadway.

For the people building billboards it would make sense to restrict the building of billboards to places where the most people are likly to see them, along the roads.

Anyway I have no idea if such a thing is possible.

I think it was mentioned earlier that most RL billboards don't actually own the land they are on, whether that be the side of a building, farmland or anything else. It is usually rented space.

Have you guys considered paying the tax money you pay for the land now to some of these people with high rises for agreements to put your bill board on the side of their buildings?

My image of the best place for a bill board is on an already existing tall structure. However some people with smaller buildings or shops may enjoy the exra income having a billboard on their land could bring.

Just an idea, instead of buying small pieces of land next to other people, find people who would like the extra income to put the bill board on the edge of their land.

Well I haven't been on the forums for a few days so I'm late to this thread, but I feel compelled to throw my two cents in.

I only judge people by my own dealings with them, and I have to say that both Si and Rathe are two of the nicest people I've met. They're both very talented and I see them trying to provide a genuine valuable service to the SL community. They are very open to suggestion and I've been very impressed with how willing they are to compromise. I've recently started selling some of my clothes from their store. Which is excellently done and I encourage other vendors to sell things there.

People REALLY need to get over this notion that they have any right whatsoever to tell people what they can and can't build on their own land. I understand how it goes. Someone built a giant tower two feet off the end of my dock completely obstructing my view of the ocean. I wasn't thrilled about it, but I talked to the guy, gave him some suggestions on how to improve it, and then let him do his thing. He was building what he wanted to build, as is his right. I never complained or harassed him for it. I'd have had no right to do so. Just as the people constantly harassing Si and Rathe and putting obstructions over their billboards have no right to do that. It matters not a wit if you like the billboards or not.

That's what this all boils down to... a bunch of people trying to pressure Si and Rathe into doing what they want, without respect to their rights.

After I lived with the tower in front of my house for a few weeks I barely noticed it anymore, and I was impressed that the guy obviously really tried to make something nice despite not being the best builder. The builboards are beautifully made and they show a lot more pride of workmanship than 90% of the objects in SL.

You're all making these guys bend over backwards to appease you and you have no right to. None. Zero. Zip. Putting up billboards is NOT a violation of the TOS, so please get over yourselves. Do what you want on your land, and let them do what they want on theirs.

This method for getting people to leave their lands on the regions THEY chose to build on is a clear case of griefing. Griefing is exactly what people get away with in alot of online games. It's a damn shame to see it happening here too, I can only hope this will not be tolerated here. Griefing is what makes people leave the game, ultimately lost profits for a wonderful online game. Hoping this doesen't turn into a 5 year type investigation of he said she said kinda thing. I think it's totally clear and obvious who the perps are here and it is not Si or Rathe. They are by far the coolest people I've met, Long live the billboards, heck they pay for the game like everyone else does, what's wrong with Billboards? I mean crap you're flying around in a game you haven't got exclusive rights to griping and moaning about, get over it. Keep up the good work Si and Rathe.
