I'm not really setting rules on that as there's no real point yet.

Well, I was talked into posting a picture last night for fun so I did. Someone within like 15 minutes rated me very very low in order to bring my score down from the 9 something it was at to 8 lol. I can see exactly how this rating is going to be for women especially. I hate to say this but a lot of women (more so in SL) are very catty and jealous when it comes to something like this and the fact that you can rate and rate again without people knowing who you are makes it 10 times easier to just knock everyone down a point or two. This is why I'm not surprised the women are starting to stick around the 5 mark lol.

In competitions in SL in the past people have complained about peer voting for the reason of people gathering friends and spamming for votes. I have no doubt this will be any different so honestly do not take your rate personally lol (that goes for you too trin! <3)

I think its a hoot, but its gunna hurt alot of peoples feelings, which is a shame, cos its all the in name of fun!

It's just as bad for men - I went from 10, to 9, to 5.5 lol. People just have a tendency to want to do that - I'm not sure why, other than human nature. RL rating sites show the same trend. Even Snapzilla has shown it - there are certain posters especially who seem to get haunted by 1 star votes, and the pictures are no better or worse than any others. The main thing is to not take any of it seriously.

I do hope that the site won't allow anonymous comments - I haven't looked. When I allowed them on Snapzilla, it ultimately almost drove out several users because they got targetted for some pretty nasty comments. I can only imagine what they would be like on something even more personal like this site.

lol, this is ridiculous! I just logged in. The top 5 or so men yesterday were all in the high 7's. Now we're in the high 5's. I'm guessing 90% of the male population is between a score of 5 and 6. Tip to males: make yourself look like a hot woman.

The Webmaster part of me is liking the amount of traffic I'm getting. This is good because I can soon throw in ads (because if this keeps up I'll be paying through the orifice on bandwidth, just banners, small ones).

The Social Engineer part of me is watching whst's happening, The people raiting incredibly low votes are, of course, assholes. Also, something to keep in mind, is that ratings aren't something to freak over. That's *cough*not the point, despite the title*cough*. The ratings are going to be spastic until enough users join to even things out. Your numbers are not going to stay at 10 constantly. I am not, as people have accused me, tampering with votes.

I did remove the 'teens' sections I implemented earlier.

Also, I'm still working on this thig. I can't just code in new features that I want. I'm not a php guy. I'm going to look over the site, lay down what I want done to it, spell it all out, and let people bid on the project.

Also, just as a heads up, don't panic I don't repond to your confirmation IMs. I am getting them in the mail. It's just to deal with people that were posting false profiles (we don't have Goatse surname in SL, to we)?

Stick with RateMyAv.com for now, you don't leave SL because someone didn't load you with positive rates, do you? I'm trying to make something fun here.

Not trying to bash, but curious -- there was a web forum upon which you stated that you were intending to personally modify profiles if you saw there was a need for it. It was a deciding factor in my deciding to ask you to remove my profile -- after all, what use when the data cannot be guaranteed to be genuine?

I note that forum and that thread are now gone, replaced by a new forum.

Would you mind addressing the matter? If there is a change and that sort of manipulation is no longer planned, I will re-open my account there.

I'm likely going to remove the forum option all together for RMAV because no one was posting except for ONE thread... and because it's difficult to moderate the board. I'm going to be migrating SL-related messageboard stuff to godswitch.com and possibly iLostMyMindOnline.com in the near future.

I hear ya torrid... i had a feeling that was gonna happen and i found out once you are logged out you can rate yourself on every picture daily... i think the site is cute an all but i think it need adjustments...i could care less if i am rated low..i am having fun

Yeah. It's more like "not bother with forums for SL at all and just use the messageboard as braindump for myself and others" etc, etc.

Yes. It does need a fair bit of working on. you have to remember this sitecode wasn't meant for people like Sl'ers that have inherent bug/hole finding abilities.

Yes. I will work on making the interface a tad more obvious (irks me too), but there should be a checkbox for 'extra image'.

Yes, I know about the 'write errors' and all the rot, just wait a bit and retry, the server is getting hit pretty hard, I'd hate to imagine what would happen if the likes of BoingBoing.net mentioned us.

Okay, I'm dealing with the rating thing, I reset someone's votes and apparently it's not a bot.

But I have bigger problems, like getting a replacement car. so I'll let the site simmer a bit and wait for my codemunkies.
