* Added a HUD attachment point
o Attachments appear in the Users Heads-Up-Display (HUD) and not in the world.
o These attachments can only be seen by the person wearing them,
not by other residents.
o Eight HUD attachments were added.

WOOT!

ATTENTION LINDENS: You have been hugged to pieces by Dizzy Mandala.

o Most inventory operations (move, delete, drop in world) can now
be done on multiple inventory items at a time.
o Ctrl-Click and Shift-Click are both supported.
* Full Bright Objects
o Objects now have the ability to be lit with a full brightness
lighting effect. It makes the faces (textures) appear as if the
sun is shining directly on them, regardless of the time of day.
* Residents can no longer be negatively rated. Old negative ratings
have been removed.

However:

o Renamed "Mini-Map" to "Radar"

But it is a mini-map and it isn't RADAR, so why?

* The Terms of Service (TOS) has been updated

What are the changes?

Incidentally, why is it called "Second Life Siva" now?

Woot! Some amazing developments, though I notice that physics improvements continue to remain absent. I had really hoped that H2 might finally make it into 1.7. Either way, here's hoping that the changes to asset handling are for the better.

Oh yeah. I'm also disappointed that the phantom av "bug" was once again "fixed" without providing a comparable feature.

- Better Sim Performance : Yay!
- HUD Attachments : WOOT!
- Multiple-Selection in Inventory - F*ck The Rock On!
- No more Neg Rates - Awwww.
- Avatar VolumeDetect Hack gone - Just... F*ck! Fine! Fix it so I can't get blown across the grid by some punkass pushweapon and point-to-point TP and we'll call it even, k?
- 'Full Bright' Prims - Hellz Yeah
- SIM_RATING detection - Cool. Can i get NO_BUILD,NO_SCRIPT,NO_FLY, etc?

On the whole, it sounds like a hell of an improvement. I'll be sure to try it out when I get home and find new and interesting ways to break stuff.

w00t I set a new personal record, crashed 4 times in 10 minutes. From what I've seen so far I'm so full of joy.

THANKYOUTHANKYOU LINDENS

Some features I personally requested for with my fellow Residents are in here!

*Looks likere is no more long-ass dropdown in the Map screen, just start typing away and it autocompletes. Which is great for a world with, uh, over 1000 regions visitable soon.

*Map is so beautiful in detail, love the giant PREVIEW etched on. HOPE! PREVIEW!

*Uh... I'm distracted now. More later.

O I don't like Radar either. It's not a useful analogy since radio waves aren't really being used, and is kind of 60s retro in a sucktastic way. I prefer "Mini-Map" or "MiniMap" without the dashthing.

Dizzy I think "SIVA" is the name for the Preview Grid, it has some mythological connotation... like AGNI for maingrid prime.

HOT DAMN a CLEAR CACHE BUTTON!

w00t

Also, chat bar is a LOT wider without wasting grayspace and Gestures dropdown is tucketedly neatly to the far right. That's great!!

Enjoy like I am, Nolan...

And ohhh hmmm new IM interface takes a bit getting used to first. It's like a tabbed web browser!

I don't like tabs on top right now, personally. PLEASE give us an option to change from top to bottom like some browsers can, and also an option to make middle-click mouse button close a tab, or even a double-click.

Actually lemme file a bug report on this rightaboutnowthefunksoulbrotha!

This sounds good! I wonder if I will be able to see this brighter whever-it-is? I can't see shiny (it's grayed out).

The grid that we are running the 1.7 preview on is internally called "siva". There used to be only two external grids. THE grid and preview. Since 1.6 we have added another grid which we fondly call siva.

I didn't have much time to putter around in it, but the HUD IS AWESOME.

Finally, the RPGs can have inobtrusive status bars...

Yeah Cocoanut I think the brighter thing just sets them to maximum light without the taxing glow that comes with Local Lighting.

Another major thing I just bug-reported: IM window comes to forefront and blocks out your screen like the dragon eating a sun whenever you get a new IM, making it very spamtastic and therefore BAD. :( I'd prefer to have an option to go to the old behavior... so it just indicates "New IM" via button instead of popping up on you. Especially for someone who is getting a lot of IMs, this can be very intrusive.

For Torley, this would be especially problematic. :D

Hahaha... the horror. :D

Also, here's another glitch:

In the Clothing window, you can't sort by type or name. The buttons do nothing. Gonna report that as soon as I'm uncrashed.

Right now it won't stop crashing long enough to submit a bug report so I will come back later. lol

Well, the fifth crash is my last for the evening. Things are feeling a little smoother now, but also a bit crashier.

I've been having some trouble with the HUD attachments. They work incredibly, stupendously, amazingly well for certain objects but absolutely refuse to work for others. For objects for which I had mod permission and which were already in my inventory, there were no problems. For objects which I didn't have those permissions, the object refused to materialize when attached. For objects created in-world and attached, the object disappeared and never materialized either. In both of these instances, the attached objects appeared in inventory as attached but were not visible in either mouselook or normal view.

I don't know if anyone else is having a similar problem, or if it was just me.

Amended: Name seems to work but type doesn't.

Awesome! :D

- "Radar" indeed is a confusing term. I keep wondering where all the monster blips are at. Mini(-)Map works best... besides, that's what the preferences still refer to it as. :P

Now if Clothing could track what clothes you wear the most and for how long, that would be KILLER! Way better to sort based on usage than... uh... other organizational schemes which are not as unintuitive.

Looks like tons of nits with IM windows...

SEND IN YOUR CRASH REPORTS PEOPLE! :)

Hehehe... I just crashed again. I'm gonna take a lazeroonie, have some coffee and I'll be back in the middle of the night. Look forward to seeing more of you crazy Residents (and I mean that in the best of ways) and we'll party like it's 1.7.

I'm excited about breaking things and suggesting new schtuff and getting closer and closer to what I perceive as a "liquid interface". I will prolly be blogging about this too, and hope we can share more ideas and help Lindens make SL bettah and bettah for ALL of us.

MOST EXCELLENT!

Preview isn't being run on the "preview" grid?

There is no grid called "preview". Each grid has an internal name. The "preview" grid is now whichever test grid we make "all access" , ie viewable to all our residents. Currently the 1.7 grid is being run on siva. I hope that makes sense. If not, i can take another stab at explaining it. Let me know.

No, it's a test grid.

Okay, so there are some cool things, but ... no one has pointed out that the two biggest things promised in 1.7 explicitly as "the main features of 1.7" were omitted.

Havok 2
HTML.

There are some needed changes ... but honestly this patch strikes me as a bunch of bug-fixes and a few nifty-but-not-urgent upgrades.

I can't say I'm thrilled. At best, this could be called "1.7a" - I simply can't accept that a version without the major features promised in said version can be considered ... a full version?

... no offense. I know this is a ton of work that the dev team has done.
