What's your biggest forum gripe?
A bunch of reforms have been made over the past 6 months, including policy and enforcement changes.
What are the things that still bother you?
Personally, my biggest gripe:
- people who routinely bring up the same topics over and over again in a time span far too short for opinions to have changed

My biggest forum peeve has always been, and will always be, threads that are created purely to provoke defensive responses, rather than spark honest discussion.
I also find it surprising that there are not more forum threads about me; my likes and dislikes, what I'm wearing this week, the strangest place I've ever made whoopie, etc. _____________________

Mine is similar to yours Hiro - when the same issue gets dogged to death, except, in my case, it's when it goes on for months and months. This FIC/gang/pack/clique crap is going to be a year old soon, and what has it accomplished? What has been resolved? Nothing.
At some point the folks who subscribe to this view must get tired of fighting a paper tiger, no? Apparently not. I mean it's always the same. A nebulous group is named as the cause of some perceived issue. Then people who feel offended by that respond, and then the person who posted the FIC stuff gets all indignant, wonders aloud why they get the responses they do, call for redefinition of what constitutes a personal attack, then engage in personal attacks themselves, offer up all kinds of side-steps like "the people who are insulted by FIC are not even FIC! Arrogant elitists!" Which makes me wonder; just who the hell IS the FIC then? _____________________

hmm well that's easy. Mine is the number of sensitive people using the forums. It's so odd to me the way some of you out there actually take offense to what people say and get all riled up, on forums! haha... I will never understand hypersensitive people though, so, I just laugh at them instead of trying to talk some sense into them (it can't be done.)
I've come to realise that some people are just predisposed to feeling their way through life foremost, and reason comes later on, if at all. So with all that said (since people will be people- especially "online" I suggest that there is nothing wrong with the forums. Reasonable TOS, reasonably enforced should do the trick. Forums are forums. People are people. |

Stupid posts from the "FIC" about the FIC and ficcy it is to be. Stupid posts from the non FIC about the FIC and any conspiracy theory about the FIC Pretty much anything FIC thesedays. Its so played. That the ignore user doesn't also ignore replies to that user(s). Then, being the curious soul I am, I read the reply without realizing it was to an ignored person. At this point, my interest is piqued and, against my better judgement, I go back and look to see if the reply was warranted. Of course, this starts at the end of the thread, so I have to start working my way backwards. After reading and shaking my head, I have read every message, including the blocked person(s) and realize this is why I blocked that person in the first place and curse myself for doing this again.
