It isn't that I think you're morons, it is that you think you're morons. Maybe you should try projecting a little less.

Oh, unlike you, I'm definitely a moron. No worries there.

I don't disagree at all.

You weren't the first, nor will you be the last, most likely, to have an experience hoisted as a guide-on by those who are out to prove that the forums are hostile to new players.

I am simply expressing what I have noticed around here since last winter and fall, when the ones who foster this mentality came on the scene. Interestingly and coincidentally, we didn't have these "social class" issues prior to that. It's been a bad spell for these forums what with the fomenting of social stratification. I really hope it will tame back down one of these days.

Well stated Nolan!

alas, you simply can not win.

I bet I could beg for mercy and prostrate myself before the forum gods and I'd still be called a troll.

That might not work very well but perhaps you could try being nice, social, friendly, cheerful, funny... :)

Well, I think I'm nice, funny (in a cognitive dissonance kinda way), and pretty cheerful.

As for charming, and social.. well. Can't win them all!

I would like to say though, that I appreciate that this thread has started to focus on me. My favorite topic.

I propose a new group: the Forum Justice Watch

The purpose of this group is to reduce the level of acrimony in these forums by abuse reporting posts which do not meet TOS standards as stated by SL.

We will especially be abuse reporting any posts which are directed at individuals or groups with known individuals. This also includes posts which are attacking the Lindens themselves.

Note that it will be up to individuals in the group to report as they see fit, the group will only be available to make them aware of potential forum criminal behavior.

That's right, no more targeting oldbies or newbies, no more insulting, attacking, or denigrating other individuals or groups.

Please feel free to join the group in SL, Forum Justice Watch and be a Forum Hero today!

Sadly, with this post, you convince me of utter insincerity with which the previous one was made. You see, this is the stumbling block of every would-be wisdom dispenser (who isn't really interested in dispensing wisdom, but "lessons";) -- they inevitably ruin their own charade of beneficence by crowing.

Ah well. So much for taking you at your word.

Forum warrior, indeed. (shaking her head as she turns away)

Just to clear up my own motive - it wasn't crowing. There really was something you could've learned in that exchange, and I really am sincere in my admiration for you. Remember, I said that anyone - even myself - could teach others of a quicker wit a few things. And remember too, I said that I could hold several points of view comfortably within myself, and make a good decision as to which was most constructive and meaningful for a given circumstance. That last is the chink in the Paladin's armor - an inability to see the truth in more than one point of view.

Frankly, I'm insulted that you believe so firmly that you're the only one who has more than one perspective in mind at any given time.

The only thing I learned in that exchange was never to take you seriously.

Thanks for that. Truly.

I never said that, nor gave the impression. I said that you didn't seem to be able to deal with multiple points of view very well.

You never did anyway. You have a fine way with words and you often make incisive and crucial arguments . But you can't seem to take anyone seriously who has a different perspective. That was the original point. And that's why you fell so easily.

I know it probably won't help, but I am sorry you feel this way. I hope you find your way. I won't say any more on this.

You very definitely gave that impression. And your habit of making inferences about people, their thinking, and their intentions or motivations based on what can only be considered miniscule information or personal knowledge is at once telling and disgusting.

Wrong again, and to your own detriment. That's your lesson to learn and I can tell you're having trouble with it.

The only thing I 'fell' for was believing you to be sincere, and you demonstrated very nicely with your 'lesson learned' followup that you were anything BUT sincere.

So hurray and congratulations... you actually fooled me into taking your words seriously. Yessirree bob, for a whole moment, I actually responded to you and considered you as someone other than a forum gaming moron.

Boy, You sure proved me wrong, didn't you? Oh boy, you got me good. I really looked silly, taking you seriously, didn't I? Congratulations. No, really. You earned it.

Why should you be sorry? You planned it very deliberately and, by golly, you pulled it off, too. You got exactly what you wanted, getting me to take you seriously just long enough to turn around and laugh about it and make some moronic statement about 'teaching me a lesson'. I hope you really cherish the moment, and believe me when I say I understand how much you needed to have it.

I'm torn between laughing in your face and slapping your face off your head. "I hope you find your way." God, what an overblown, arrogant, asinine remark. Tell you what, when you outgrow the belief that only people who think like you do or can agree with how you think are 'finding their way', then you might snag a clue as just how ludicrous is your statement.

Find my way? Dude, seriously, if anyone needs to find their way, it is you. Specifically, finding your way out of that fog of self-importance and omniscience you've allowed to cloud your thinking.

Meh. I've wasted enough time on you.
