Are you saying andrew told you to buy the lot back?

Colin Linden is the one that told me to buy back the lot. He was the only one on at the time from Technical/Customer Support. He said for me to buy back the lot, once he verified everything and confirmed it ( I guess he meant going through the logs) then they would refund my 40KL that I just paid to rebuy the lot.

I will be going to Awa today and when I get that persons name I'll be neg rating their behavior the first time i see them or an item they own.

I think everyone should do this. This incident is blatant theft. Any person who would do this should be shunned.

People spend USD for their land...Lion paid near 90k Linden for the land, thats almost $500 USD and this guy just steals it from under him.

It sucks that we have to share SL with people like this. LL should be critical about people who disrupt the community and those who commit acts like this.

Recieved a full refund of the 40K. Yes, I do know I am out the 511M. I'll take that as a lesson learned the hard way. Boy did I learn it! BTW! anyone interested in a 8096M lot for 999,999? LOL No I'm not saying all that went about was right at all, I just HAVE to have something to laugh about, past few days have been ummmm well, you know! The rest can be handled by Linden Labs. (BTW again, just after I bought my lot back, the thief flew by, landed on my lot, then TP'd out.)

But the way it was resolved ... There was nothing "fair and square" about it.

I am glad you got it back, Lion. But, the guy who STOLE it from you was a complete and utter asshole. He should be banned from SL permanently, but I doubt that will happen because of the hole in the TOS. I really think you should post his name here, so that the whole of SL can shun him, and neg rate his ass into oblivion. Feel free to send me his name in a PM.

I went to find and searched for nay land under $10000 and your appeared at 0 lindens........I zipped over there hoping to get a great deal like ti was a giveaway..... I had it open clicked buy and it told me i had to increase my tier....I thought...Id otn want to inreae my tier....so I close the box...Then i decide i will, open it back up click buy and ti says its not for sale anymore, then i cuss a bit and fly off lol!!!

That totally sucks Lion, Contact Linden Labs and make those people give your land back....the other guy bought it for nothing......So you should get it back for free in ym opinion, they need someone to say this was the case, I'll always do it for ya bro

well whew!! I am so glad everything worked out Lion!!!

I got the chance to be in world for about a half an hour day before yesterday during the afternoon. I was on my way to see a friend when I crash landed into Lion. I had to stop and chat because he had on a great super hero avatar, and after a bit of chat I learned that Lion was making several differen super hero outfits (which he plans to sell so Im him if you are looking for one.. hehe). One thing led to another, and I learned of this land mishap. I offered a small bit of land that I had, but it was no where near what Lion had lost. He was thankful but declined, wishing to see this matter through. I had offered to at least post what we had spoken of on the message boards if he did not hear anything from the Lindens in a day or so. I am glad it was resolved before then. I was heartbroken to hear of this story, but so happy to know it has a good ending!

I am glad you got your land back, although as most people have stated in this thread, I hardly think it's fair. I believe you should've gotten all of your land back and I really hope the Lindens seriously look into this.

This isn't the first time something like this has happened, and it's the reason why Mickey and I set the price on our plot to a ridiculous amount... the crazy e-mails we get every once in a while (you want how much for that little plot???) make us laugh, but at least we still have our land

Hank - thanks for the advice..I'm going in and setting all my land to ME, unless and until some 'fix' happens to prevent what happened to Lion.

Also...WHY is there a 'revert' button? Can you name some incidences when I would actually hit it (on purpose)?

Proposal:

Upon taking ownership of a plot...
- A) The land is marked as for sale to you
- B) The land price is set at the current average sale price (which will make it high)

Upon setting a plot for sale...
- A) A dialog opens asking if you really want to put your land up for sale
- B) A dialog or window opens asking you some questions:
- - 1) Who do you want to mark it for sale to (yourself, anyone, a name)
- - 2) How much you want to sell it for (perhaps showing some stats like average completed sale price for that rating, last L$/m price land sold for in that sim, etc)
- - 3) Do you want to sell the land "under contract" (more on this below, defaults to true)
- - 4) Do you want to sell items on the land with the land?

Upon someone buying a plot marked for sale "under contract"...
- A) The buyer can enter some text when they request purchase of the land
- B) The buyer's money is held in trust by the system until the sale completes
- C) The buyer can cancel the sale at any time from their My Land menu
- D) Seller is sent a confirmation of the sale (delayed till next logon, if neccessary)
- E) Seller can confirm or cancel the sale at this point, if confirmed, sale takes place


Short of an auction system, that provides the maximum protection for the seller. I'd prefer an auction house for land owners to list their land for sale over this "under contract" idea. however.

Oh, and yes... There IS NO REASON to have a Release land option. If you need to get rid of land fast, just set it for sale for L$0 and wait for a land scanner to swoop in. Or sell to a friend. Or swing by the Welcome area and offer your own First Land deal.

I cant believe this thread. I just read it for the first time and my hands are shaking so badly I am having a hard time typing.

I (Ken Hadlee) am the person who bought Lions land from the person who got it for $0. I already owned land in Awa and wanted to add to it. Lion knew this as I IM him a day or two before this happened. The perpetrator flew up to me immediately after he got the land as I was building on my land. He stated he justy got a deal on some Awa land. I asked him where? He told me. I stated "Darn I wanted that land" He offered to sell it to me and asked me to make him an offer. I offered him $80,000 lindens which he accepted. I went offline to get funding, came back on line and paid him.

2 DAYS LATER I found out about Lions problem. No one EVRY came to ME and asked about how I got the land. EVER! I found out all about it from an interested 3rd party who used to reside in Awa. I didnt sleep that night and decided to offer Lion back his land for half what I paid. I was trying to do the Christian thing! Lion and I would share in the loss!
He would have his land back and I would have learned a lession about dealing with scum!
I met with Lion after he purchased the land from me and he told me that the Lindens refunded his $40,000. I was VERY happy that he was back home in Awa! I wrote to Customer service and asked them about my OTHER $40,000 lindens. NEVER did they reply to me. SO..... Lion has his land..... the perpetrator got $80,000 of my money and I only got $40,000 back! NICE DEAL huh?

THEN I read this thread! I am accused of being WITH the perpetrator. And NO ONE defend me at all. Not LION who I treated very fairly or ANYONE!

Oh and by the way, Lion only got back part of his land because I could not remember the original size. I NEVER cheat ANYONE! Lion also bought a 512 parcel from me a day later. This was to round out his tier he stated. NOW I see thet it was because he didnt get back his original size... WHICH HE NEVER TOLD ME!!

I am so fed up I may just quit SL. But first I am going on line as soon as SL opens upo and giving Lion back twice what he paid for the 512 parcel I sold him. I am also going to meet a few of the people listed in this thread and tell them what I think, including Colin Linden and the other Linden mentioned in this thread.

You people have a lot of nerve calling me a thief after the way I tried to get Lion back on his land and lost $40,000 lindens for being a Christian.

As far as I am concerned you are the hero here and deserve better treatment from the Lindens. It is the other cheat who deserves to be beaten and booted from the game. You deserve a response from the Lindens for doing what they should have done in the first place. Your story is backed up by Lion. Come on Lindens..fairs fair!!!
