From: Catherine Cotton After being in SL since 03 I find it more than a little ironic that none of these ppl have come and talked to me personaly in world about out differences. Yet they bring them up over and over again on the General forum. Like today for example. Now I can't help but wonder if those types of posts today are meant to "Incite anger" which is against the posting rules.
Things that make you go hmmm. Not kidding me, nope nope nope.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think this group should stick to the "Off-Topic" forum since their posts seem to be personal conversastions, pictures of pie and a whole lot of non sence. BUT if they can't or won't do that perhaps they can start their own "group" forum as Willow has. Seems logical to me. I would much prefer the forums are a postive place to post cus all this negativity is getting realy old and IMO does not reflect what SL is realy about. I have been spending most of my time IW as the fourms have become nothing more than dramafest 05 or just non sence, lately.
Cat Alas, exposing hypocrisy through detailing the hypocrite's past is not "inciting anger" - it's living in reality. If you don't like hearing about your past foibles, stop making them.

From: Catherine Cotton I think this group should stick to the "Off-Topic" forum since their posts seem to be personal conversations, pictures of pie and a whole lot of non sense. I think for the most part people *do* do this. Sure things slip in, but there can be "silly" threads *about* SL as well. So it is a hard call. I think the mods do a fine job of moving stuff if they deem it off-topic. Seeing as how we do not all view the same thread the same way, I don't think it is really up to us users to be forum moderators. It is one of the few places I'm happy to leave total control in the hands of the Lindens.

I'm all for policing ourselves a little better than we do. I'm sure the mods do the best they can with the tools available but I think we need to take on more responsibility ourselves to ensure that the forums are a positive place for ppl to post in. The majority of SLers don't post and its abundantly clear to me why they don't. The forums are not a positive space right now. I would love to see that change.

From: Catherine Cotton The majority of SLers don't post and its abundantly clear to me why they don't. The forums are not a positive space right now. I would love to see that change. Actually, in any online enviroment, especially "game" forums, there are always way fewer posters than their are lurkers. And then of course there are those who just do not lurk at all. It is not "abundantly* clear to me why any one person chooses not to post in the forums. There are a variety of reasons I am sure. These forums have always been 10 times more tame than other online forums I have been in. Espeically ones that centered around a "game". There has *always* been disagreements, ranting, and displeasure voiced on these forums since about day one. I'd say there was a time not so long ago when they were at their worst, but they have gotten back to about their average lately. As these forums have never really changed, I doubt they will. At least not without making them strictly a Linden announcement read only forum.

I see a lot of people like words that others use and then go on to use them on their own. I never used the word vitrolic till I saw it posted in the forums. I liked the word as it summed up what would have taken me many words to say. Trends in words happen just as trends in other areas happen. What is your point? Also, Coco, see your friend here trying to accuse someone of being an alt? What are your thoughts on that?

Wow Catherine, your sleuthing skills are about as razor sharp as the rest of you. Now search for the word hyperbole a little more and notice how many other people have used it too. I must have a whole lot of alts and by the way, hypocrite much, since you just publicly accused me of being an alt (which was really fucking stupid, honestly, since a wide variety of people know both Nolan and I - including our respective girlfriends.). Carry on, you make this way too easy, honestly.

So much for me being on mute huh? Catherine, for all your talk of having me banned, and your claims of wanting a better forum atmosphere, you sure are doing a bang-up job of breaking rules. Accusing people of being alts is a privacy policy breach. Pathfinder told us a couple months back, that it is. I am not going to explain to you why it is SO OBVIOUS that Cristiano and I are different people, because it would be like teaching a caterpillar how to drive a car.

Cat I didn't openly call you fucking stupid - but here goes Catherine, trying to twist things. I said that calling Nolan and I the same person is fucking stupid, and it is. By your logic, anyone who used the word "fuck" must be an alt of yours, since you have such a fondness for it. You are the one who dragged me into this thread. I posted nothing about you here - and then you come out with this bullshit that Nolan and I are the same person. Hah, be the change indeed. God knows that your potty mouth can't possibly be afraid of a few bad words with how often you use them.

BTW, inciting people to report a post is abusive in and of itself. People can make up their own minds on what they want to do, and not make a big public display of it - but then that is of course lost upon you, as you feed on the drama of it all.

Cat, considering this thread was started for no other purpose than to malign a certain group of individuals that you don't like and consider enemies it seems to me you don't have a leg to stand on. Crap like this makes you equally complicit. It also goes a long way towards explaining why some people treat you the way they do. You can only take the high ground if you're willing to rise above it all. This poll clearly shows that you choose the low road instead. I like you Cat. I don't understand why you go out of your way to make enemies. There are people here you don't like... we get it already.

It is one of the few places I'm happy to leave total control in the hands of the Lindens. I agree with Pen about this part. Most of the "silly" stuff is either "general" or "off topic" and if a mistake is made, Jeska moves it. I dont see a problem with that. Also I think the "pudding and pie" type posts are humorous (to a point, and if done well). That kind of "bonding through humour" is a vital part of the forum community IMO and nothing to get upset about. The day silly remarks are legislated to their own "area" is the day the forums become as dreary as corporate email. We are all supposed to be creative brainy type folks here and such crazy behaviour is normal to that group. The most creative and the smartest among us are often (but not always), the ones that need to blow off steam or play in that way the most. [flamebait] So why should all the dull dummies tell the cool smart folks what to do? [/flamebait] To stay on topic more,... I voted "No" because I think this "solution" is not workable. How would this help anything to have one person in a thread by themselves? Why would they stay there? Who's going to make them? Forums are organised by topic not by personal opinion of the poster. I thought this was a joke thread until I got to the seventh or eighth post.

I think that you assume I am talking about a certain group. When in fact I am talking about any group that tries to control any SL forum. I don't think its a positve thing for SL. I do apologize for the "alt" remark as ppl can make up their own minds. I did edit that post to reflect this. The majority of ppl do not post to the fourms because it's so negative and obviously controlled to a certain extent. Depending on the motives of certain groups. Thats not to say its always the same group either. A pattern does exist however and I think thats a darn shame. I like you too. Cat

The majority of people who are members of SL don't post to the SL forums because the majority of people on any site of this type don't post to forums.
