I qualify for both "clubs", have been invited to apply for Mensa numerous times ("we really need more people like YOU at our meetings - please consider applying!";) and still fall in the category of people who thinik IQ scores are bunkum.

It's meaningless. Well, except for the fact it does allow people who do well on certain tests the ability to socialize and talk about how smart they are. I suppose thats a good thing.

Then there are those of us who actually *use* our intelligence to generate wealth & comfort for ourselves ;) We dont have time for silly IQ clubs.

And yes, I know that statement is arrogant. But I also know it's well deserved ;)

hehe.. Your story and feelings on this sound just like my husband Taggy!! :D

EDIT: Oh and I also think Barack Obama is a FAR smarter choice than Hillary ...

My eldest brother attended one MENSA shindig, and came home with the question, "Are we all really that socially retarded? Do I come off like that, too?"

To him, it was a bunch of smart people with no friends standing around drinking technically good wine that none of them really enjoyed, stroking each other's egos, when they took a short break from stroking their own and making others watch. He never bothered to attend again and no longer admits being a member.

Exactly. Something about those groups pulls in every sot lacking in social graces. It's amazing.

The NHIS seems slightly less so, but not by much. The certification helps for work, but I honestly can't think of a single other occasion I've had use for it.

hahahaha and thats why I love you so Taggy!... Personally I'd side with Marx on that one
Groucho - the smart Marx brother..

Besides, its all relative - my mother said smarts don't matter much if I have a big wee wee.

But then again , I'm hung like a baby carrot - which is where that plan falls short...

Siggy.

I'm smart enough not to vote in this poll :P.

All the tests I've taken say I'm in the top 10% (bit short of the smart people clubs :) ), but brains seem to be a minor factor of success, so who cares.

Intelligent doesn't equate to smart though. You can be intelligent and do the stupidist stunts. Blessed would be the person with a generous helpings of intelligence, education, and common sense.

Or maybe they would just be more aware that they are miserable.

Some people are stupid
Some people ae smart
How do you measure
and where do you start.

Arent we all equal
From head to our toes
But Characture judges

I see some very bright people have placed themselves at 10%. I think they need to keep in mind that this takes into account ALL of SL, not just the ones they hang around most. Every punk that gets his kicks out of blowing you across the sandbox... and.. well... I'd venture to say nearly everyone on this forum is atleast above 50% on this poll. I think some people are comparing themselves to the best of the techy players and not really the whole of SL.

I've also learned a hard lesson in my most recent relationship. There are different kinds of "smarts," and often people will mistake talent for intelligence. Someone can create things here that leave you amazed, but it really doesn't mean this person is an all around smart person. They can very well do things stupid enough to leave you just as amazed.

Anyone have a crowbar to help me pry Eggy's lips off of Ulrika's ass?

You don't need a crowbar, all you need to do is let me put them on yours! :D
I like Ulrika, sue me. I have known her since she was a noob and I absolutely adore her.

I like Eggy too! If it weren't for Eggy, I wouldn't have won the New Moves for a New World animation contest.

His willingness to help individuals for the benefit of the community combined with his superior technical skills make him a true asset to SL. I'm nominating him for a Weber Award. :)
