keep in mind that there is previous mention of aimee and cubey and neph out there in papers and articles, so when a reporter is researching SL, who does he find but aimee and cubey and neph. This is the way the world works... might as well complain about the sun being round.
I for one am a fan of aimee and cubey and neph and don't begrudge them anything. Jealousy is not a pretty thing.
You snowcrash, might not be jealous in this case, but if your question is solely whether LL is exclusively dropping selected names, then why didn't you ASK Catherine Linden rather than publicly posting what most will read as an accusation of BOTH LL and aimee/cubey.

That - from reading other articles - is one way reporters take the easy way out. But I think here, the names were gotten from the website profiles. So you are right to have the heat on the Lindens, but probably not for the reason that they "gave" the names to the reporter directly. The heat should be on them for not coming up with new people to profile on the website, something I suggested some time ago. Until they make efforts such as that, individuals will be used over and over again even if that is not what they would prefer. coco

Aimee Weber is Philip Linden, so of course there's a conflict of interest. Duh!

From: Enabran Templar Maybe Linden Lab should be making announcements every time someone wants to do a news bit on SL, soliciting bids for who gets to appear. This obvious favoritism makes Prokofy more right than he ever knew! I have to say in this regard, Prokofy and Cocanut both have a point (yes lightning is going to strike me). Not in favoritism per se, but SL is large and diverse enough by now that certainly the marketing site can move beyond showing the same people time and time again. There are many, many people creating compelling content, building great businesses, and doing interesting things in SL. It does seem a bit laxof Linden Lab by to not at least make some effort here.

It's not, and it only leads to everyone losing out in the long run. Before your time here coco, the Linden's used to announce events prior to every hour. Some people screamed favortism and turned up the "heat". Now we have no hourly announcements. We all lose.

I will strike you myself if the electricity doesn't get to it! Nah, what you're saying has validity. It's just when you say it, you don't do so with sanctimony dripping from your fangs, so I can actually read it without rolling my eyes painfully out of their housing within my skull.

Now we have no hourly announcements. We all lose. I remember those announcements. Just before they dropped doing them, they were announcing laundry lists worth of events, and the whole events list had grown far too large to announce every hour. If there were people screaming favouritism, they were being drowned out by people screaming to stop with all the blue popups the hourly announcements were creating. - Newfie

In any group of people, there are always those who won't particularly go anywhere, and those that will. And in that group of people that go places, there are those that naturally get on with those in authority, and find ascending the ranks easy, and there are those who are ignored. Those who are not ignored are sucessful, and sometimes you find that those who are ignored have the grit and determination that whatever the current hierarchy think, they make their own success anyway, and then they too are successful.
Bottom line is LL are made of people, and those people will have their favourites, and they'll help them to succeed. But keep your eyes on the prize. We didn't come here to be best friends with the Lindens. We came here to rise early, work late and strike oil. And we can do it with or without the Lindens.

We have the most rockin poster girl a community could ever want. Stop Complaining, she's doing us all good, and we, the Lindens, and ABC News all know it.

Perhaps it's just momentum. She gets mentioned in one article, and then the next reporter doing research finds Aimee's name and uses it.

Yes, what Ingrid and Satchmo said.
It's a good choice.

Aimee, Are the rumors true that FOX has given you your own sitcom for the fall season, to be simultaneously broadcast on the scrappy new SLTV network? If so, make sure you make it edgy. Kind of a cross between That Girl and Nip/Tuck or something. Controversial is good too - that damn new Weeds sitcom on Showtime is getting all the attention with its whole "look I'm a soccer mom dealing pot" thing. Also make sure it airs at 10 pm ET so you can show skin like NYPD blue. Just a little advice from me to you.

All I got was a stinky reality show where I chain two guys to the pipework of an decrepit industrial bathroom with nothing but a dead body and a hack saw that is too weak to cut the chain but strong enough to cut through bone. Hilarity ensues.

From: Snowcrash Hoffman http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/FutureTech/story?id=1019818&page=1 "Some, like Aimee Weber, have opened virtual fashion boutiques where they sell their own line of personally designed virtual clothing for the world's currency, called "Linden dollars." Again? Isn't there enough advertisement for her in almost every news that comes about SL? Nothing against Aimee, I like her, I like her creations, nothing personal. But I think Lindens should stop the favoritism on this at this point when there are so many amazingly talented designers and builders in SL. Either don't mention name (in fact in this case it adds nothing to the story) or pick someone different everytime. I think it's not fair otherwise. Aww quitcher bitchin... exposure of ANY kind is good for SL.

From: Snowcrash Hoffman My heat was on Lindens not to Aimee, read carefully again my original post please. Again, I repeat if it was Lindens who suggested to insert a name in that sentence, it was unfair and unprofessional in my opinion. Actualy you mentioned Aimee by name when you could have just said, Damn can't they ever switch the PR up a litlte bit at all? There was really no reason to highlight her or mention her by name if your beef was with Linden Lab.

This is probably the first and only time I've agreed wholeheartedly with JSecure. There are some people that climb the ladder, some that are pulled up the ladder, and then some down on the ground level building their own danged ladder. - Newfie
