Hi, all. Sorry to post another off-topic post, but I just felt I needed to warn you all about one of the people replying regularly to this thread. I'm not going to give his name for obvious reasons. He's known as a bunch of other names, on Second Life, There, and fansites of both. He loves to stir up There v. Second Life arguments. If I recall correctly, he even posted something on these very forums, under one of his other names, about wanting to bomb LL's office. Previously, he has made the argument, in replies to threads on these forums, that Second Life is inferior to There because Second Life's members are not willing to commit suicide for SL. In my opinion, he's nuts.
Now, as for my opinion on LL censoring texture uploads...BAD IDEA! It has stifiled creativity in There, and would do the same here.

From: Jeffrey Gomez ...
Now. Here's one solution I would support:
Place a sales counter, by object name and key, at the backend. Because LL has proven sales figures can be tracked, why not compile a list of the most common sales and check these regularly?
This would be interesting. While it would still allow for "low profile" infringement, huge sales of "Metallica CD 3" or "Coca Cola Avatar" (fabricated) would be easily traceable and dispelled by a couple Liasons.
Thoughts? I'd like this, not only for infringment possibilities, but also general curiosity of "what sells". Counter Question: Couldn't someone do this already? By looking at the "Recent Transactions" side bar on the Community page? I imagine it'd be easier for LL to do this, since they're already pulling recent transactions, it'd be simple for them to just toss in something that looks for repeats, adds them up, and throws them on a board. But who knows how long that'd take to do.

If someone could hijack the live webfeed for that purpose, sure - but I don't think LL distributes that sort of bandwidth from the main page just yet. Point taken. Perhaps it would be wise to ask them then?
