I soooo have to say that I think Trans is a dream come true for some!! I love the fantacy world that is there for all who wants to enjoy! Yes some people are into the game as role plays!! If you dont like that...well to bad its his sim!! His rules!! And it doesnt seem that alot of people disagree! NO i dont think that everyone kiss tushie! Its Role playing hehe!!SO i think some needs to "know her role" not to be mean, but before you go attacking people or a place you should get to know alittle more about them! I have had open arms in trans, i am not a vampire, Im just a baby lol....what do i know!!
but i think it is way cool!! I love to dance in the street all after noon, the castle is just walk threw the castle and look at all the detailed and beautyl!! The pet shark ehhe cute!!! all the work and effort put into that place, and some one wants to just come in there and judge, i dont think that Ob's is the one on a power trip, or high horse...umm big headed or what ever miss charlton said!!! I know my claws dont need to come out!!! Meow.......

Im bored and feel like increasing my post count, so here goes:

When I first went to Trans I came across a large group of them standing around in a circle like (no not that :P). I walk up near them and say hello. No one responds. I stand there for awhile and nothing. I was like wtf theres like 15 people here and no one said hello. So Im like "wut-evah" and wonder off to check out the shops. I come back later and the crowd is still pretty much keeping to their group only. So I leave and wonder if they are stuck up or whatever.

Later I'd visit to just check out the shops and not go to any events or 'hang' due to my first experience. Then a few months later Im bored and I see an event there and I go and everythings cool. People talk to me and things are alright. So my initial opinion of things change to some degree.

Recently I have made friends with some people in the trans group and they are wonderful. I go to events and clubs there more often now. Sure some of them keep to themselves still but thats cool. I respect their right to do as they wish, esp on their sim. My point is that initial opinions can be way off base from reality.

I'm more of a reader of these things then a poster, but I have to say that Transylvania is a beautiful, unique place. I visit there quite often, more so just to sit and gather my thoughts, but I too have danced in the street for hours bringin my immediate family to enjoy the fun with me. I have never met an unfriendly soul, ummmm... well, vampire.

And as for Mr. Obs, I have never had a convo with him but what right to I have to pass judgement on a person I don't even know *hint*hint*. I totaly understand his loyalty and love to his family in Trans and respect that. I am the same way with my family in SL, so does that make me a bad person also?

I think the people in Trans are a fine bunch and would dance in the streets with y'all anyday!

*hugs*

But I to agree with the point that the line for In Character and Out Of Character in roleplay needs to be clearly defined. If someone is not playing the game, a roleplayer shouldn't act as if they are.

My thoughts exactly.

A Tringo machine told me to eat babies. It's ok to hear voices, it's when you do the things they tell you to do that you usually get in trouble.

I think I saw Lecktor crouching behind a Tringo machine, whispering bad things to people as they walked by.

Sadly I will not be visiting or buying anything from Transalvania not because of the land but because of one mans ego and control that goes beyond what is fun.

Well everything has pretty much been said... Accept this..

The Blood Was Probably Sour Anyway...
03-04-2005 14:34
First off, I'd like to say "Hello" to the Blood who've come out in support of the Obsfather.

Second I'd like to dispel some of the accusations posed by Ms Charlton in this thread.
1. Transylvanian is a family, not a clique. We are picky about whom we allow in because we want to make sure that those whom we allow in share our vision. Moreover, Obscuro has made it clear that he doesn't allow people to belong to Transylvanian and another vampire family at the same time . Sounds reasonable to me. If you are a member of two similar groups-to whom do you owe your loyalty? Transylvanian vampires all work toward the betterment of Transylvania.

We Royals especially share in this dream. All of us contribute our time, money, and efforts to make Transylvania *the* destination in SL. None of us got there because we were kissing ass-we got there by proving ourselves, by helping to build up Transylvnania. But what have you done? What did you have to offer, Ms. Charlton? An alliance with your three member group? You've done nothing for the Empire or the Blood and yet you expected to be immediately elevated to Royal status? Now who is the child? Obscuro has never had an issue with any of the other vampire clans, all of whom are welcome in Transylvania.

2. As Obscuro's second in command and Entertainment Director I can assure you that Transylvania is open to the public and will remain so. Period. Otherwise, why would we post our events when we could just as easily only announce on the Transylvanian chat?

3. Annah, it is likely that when you had your experience everyone was in IM and/or away.
Obscuro is especially busy (he's one of SL's frikkin' poster boys fer cryin out loud), which is why he relies on his strong circle of Royals to help him keep Transylvania running smoothly.

In closing, let me say that Transylvanian vampires are some of the friendliest, most welcoming people in Second Life (myself notwithstanding). What we have here is a little girl who didn't get her way and decided to throw a temper tantrum in the forums.

Thank you, Calranthe, for showing us all *precisely* why we don't just allow *anyone* claiming to be a vampire into the group.

I just love how so much of Second Life is built on the principle of exclusion. "Poster boys", "he's busy", "you're not welcome", "established content barons", and all of that.

Naw, I don't take any of it seriously, especially the thing about fetished inner cores, but this is how SL has become ordered as it has become larger. By breaking into small cohorts that compete for status and attention.

Too bad.

I don't know about the rest of Second Life, but Transylvania is certainly not about exclusion. We have people from all walks here and, contrary to popular belief, having a goth skin isn't a prerequisite to come hang out.

When I said that Obscuro is a "poster boy" for SL, I meant it literally. He is one of the people they use in the banner at the top of the SL site. They also use him in the section showing how you can personalize your AV.

As for being busy...hey, it happens. It's hard to drop everything and devote your attention to one stranger when you've got 30 IMs going on. Not to mention, Obs is often on at his office (he's his own boss so he can do that) so often he is busy IRL.

Nothing personal, Kiamat. I'm sure your reasons are sincere and valid. I just think the general atmosphere is sometimes a little unfortunate.

Peace. :)

Oh, btw, I visited Transylvania and I have Obscuro and Succubus as neighbors in Stump. Cool builds.

Warning, don't tick the vamps or you might wake up lets say, a little pale? Or like they say, be good to humanity and donate your blood to the Red Cross, not your local blood sucker.

Suggestion, next time visit the 'Heaven' sim I am sure the citizens there are nicer!

I am personally hoping one of this days, I will fall into the fangs of one of them sexy vampiress' that hang at the Transylvannia sim.

But all kidding aside, as a mere mortal, I have visited Transylvannia many times and everyone has been very nice. I must admit they look at me kinda funny though; I am not sure if they envy my tan, or are looking at my neck.
