Okay so this last week I met the most controling child i've ever had the displeasure to meet on SL.

I have always had an interest in Vampires etc, love to roleplay and generally have fun, the Vampire The Masquerade RPG themes.

So after joining SL I went and visited Transalvania, oooo it kewl and yes it is until you meet the people.

Now let me explain I have met some nice people there, Akasha Slovang for one.

But let me put it this way, its a good job obscuro has a sim to himself because in normal polite society he would not be allowed to carry on the way he does.

Exert from my first conversation with him (i had created my own vampire group just for a bit of enjoyment)

(i didn't copy and paste sadly)

(edited)

At the same time I saw his total control of his "click" of inner people (kiss *** or your out)

Now we all get a little caught up in these things but sheesh, he reminds me those people on EQ whose parents told them what to do, whose boss at work told them what to do, who the law told what to do so on a place like SL they grip so tightly to the reigns of control like a scared child.

Sadly I will not be visiting or buying anything from Transalvania not because of the land but because of one mans ego and control that goes beyond what is fun.

Sounds like role-playing a vampire lord very well. I thought you said you were into vampire RPG? *chuckles*

Seriously, though, did you read the forum rules? Complaints about specific players are prohibited.

gotta ask yourself would a true undead creature of the nite, an immortal lord of this foul earth, abomination in the eyes of god and men, go running to whine to a bunch of mortals on a internet forum? suck it up (haw haw get it?) and move on.

I dunno, sounds like a legit complaint to me.... I respect people's right to do whatever they want with their own sims, but I've always enjoyed looking around Transylvania because of the amazing builds, and if it really is in danger of being made almost completely no-entry, that's pretty annoying. In a case like that, I probably wouldn't go there to shop anymore either. Wouldn't want to pollute their sim with my normalness. I mean, I realize that just making a huge build on a private sim doesn't automatically mean the public has the right to go there, especially if you build it with a specific group use in mind, but it seems kinda odd to have it public at first, allow people to wander around and admire your builds, and then suddenly decide that most people shouldn't be allowed in. Like Calranthe said, ego. If you want it to be group-only, make it that way from the beginning.

I think it's great that RP vampires in places with charming names like Transylvania get to publish in-game chat transcripts here on the forums and make personal accusations against an individual that we have no means of verifying. I'd love to see more of that, as a badly-needed check against abuse and griefing generally.

Oh, but I think for the rest of us, it's a violation of TOS and we could get banned from the game and from the forums for doing that.

I usually don't blast noobs but......

First of all you are in direct violation of the TOS by identifying his name and then proceeding to post chat.

Secondly, indeed it is his sim and I really don't see the issue.

Thirdly, what Hiro said.

Obscuro is a great person and not a child. You may have wanted to try to get to know him a bit better before slamming him in the forum in the infancy of your posting history.

Good day.

Sounds like role-playing a vampire lord very well.

Mmmmmh i beg to disagree, assuming what she said corresponds to reality (and as a general statement, this is not the first time i hear a conversation on this tracks from various individuals), the reference to being a vampire in real life (BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! :D) doesn't exactly sound like good rpg to me :P

King: So you want to build trebuchets to help resist against the invasion of the Evil Overlord and his army of marauding undead?

1st level Warrior: Of course!

King: Are you sure you have the skills to do it?

1st level Warrior: Sure i do! I am an engineer in real life!

On a more serious stand, still on a totally general point of view and trying not to "bash the noob" , like many others in this thread will sure do, unfortunately (or not, depending on the point of view), many enclosed communities (expecially online, an environment that allows many wannabe bullies to compensate their real life weaknesses) belonging to some life philosophies tend to go into a "with me or against me" loop in wich you have to do things according to certain standards, and if you dare to stray you are a shunned heretic. Right or not, there is not much you can do about it, and coming on the forum won't help, talking with friends in game is sure a better way to look for confort and advice. The only way to avoid this, is to stay away from such communities or sub communities and to avoid categorizing yourself like they do. You are free to play as a vampire, vampire hunter, space pirate, dancing monkey or whatever you want (as long as you take responsibility for the actions your roleplaying involves), but the best way is always to avoid excessively strong cliques.
As a general and personal rule of thumb (and if i had space for more groups) i'd avoid groups that try to limit me by preventing me to join other groups. Exclusivity tends to be limiting in a virtually limitless world like second life, and you will always find a similar but less "ego polluted" environment somewhere.
As a famous (at least in japan and europe) space pirate said: "you can dance in your little world, my own world is the whole universe!".
Have fun :)

I can't say I hang out in Transalvania but I do know Obscuro and Sukkubus and I have nothing but good things to say about them both. Perhaps he was just playing a bit rough with you that night? Catch me in a bad mood and I can be short with people too :o

I can sympathize with this one having a similar experience with Obs myself. It's so easy for some of you to cut people down when you haven't walked in their shoes eh? Is there something wrong with politeness and conversations on an adult level without saying stupid things to make people feel like shi*? Ego's and Trans...yes the two definately belong in the same sentence together.

Calranthe, he did ya a favor. There are some awesomely kind people in SL so just move on and fine them. Maybe we'll meet in world. ;)

Popped in to say "hi Asha" huggerz :)

OH o.k. since I'm here I'll make a comment. Did you think to explain why you had a group like you did to us here on the forums. From the conversation it seems to me like maybe you gave in too easily too his role play and shouldn't be there anyways. Best to move on.

Asha,
Being one that I'm sure you feel was 'cutting people down' I will respond thusly;

My main intent with the post was as stated firstly regarding the TOS violation and the labeling of a good person as a 'child'. I'm sorry you had a bad experience but it is my and many others' experience that Obs and Sukky are great people. There is extreme role playing going on in Transylvania and I'm sure there is another side to the story. As per usual, bringing disagreements to the forums is ending up as it usually does. I've been guilty as well of this but learned my lesson and was trying to not too harshly convey this lesson.

Extreme role players normally avoid talking about real life, but yes, there always is another side to any story.

When I used to live next door to Obscuro I used to "accidently overhear";(I have no morals) some of his personal conversations. He can be a real sweetie, but thats only to his friends. He seems to be guarded around strangers.

Calranthe,

Welcome to SL, wonderful start you're off too. Posting conversations on forums, then saying you didn't copy and paste, would that indicate that you made up the conversation? Also, the nice people you met were "Kiss asses"? Wow your standards are really something. And to never shop in that sim is funny, you acuse him of being a child yet display how mature you are by insulting everyone becuase of a conversation with one person. Please don't shop in Transylvania, it will prove so very much. Hell it's almost as good as showing a valid identification, one that shows you are 18. I suppose the only thing I really have to say is go tell you Mommy that you didn't get your way and someone hurt your feelings. If she wishes to spank people for you, send her my way, I like it :D

Hey there...

I seen this and just had to reply... I'm new to SL and the frist ones I met here in SL were the people in T-Town. They were extremely nice to me and didn't make me feel like I was an outsider, unlike some of the other places I've been to in SL. As for the comments about this one person... to each their own on how they choose to play their game or run their sim.

Calranthe,

First off, Calranthe, best get the facts about a group before trashing them in the forum!

I have been long friends with Obs almost since i started SL, and have been a part of the Vamp Family also.
You cant judge a group of people, or that person, by one bad thing! Obscuro is a very nice and gentle person. He cares for all. Specially his family!

I AM DAMN PROUD TO BE A PART OF THAT FAMILY! they are more my family then my real life family sometimes!

So please get a life and quite crying in the forum about something so childish, geezz someone take your toy away or something?

Hmmm, ok first I'll admit it. I am a Transylvania Vampyr and may I say proud to be one. Those of Transylvania (lovingly referred to hereafter as "T-Town";) are a group of friends sharing common goals/fun. It has not been my experience nor have I heard of us behaving in a less than cordial manner to those who act with the same degree of maturity.

As for Obscuro... so he roleplays a vamp lord? so he is a little protective of his sim and his family? Umm, is that any reason to come to the forums and bash him personally? Besides being a direct violation of TOS - it is downright rude! Oh wait, I know...how's that go? If you can't say something nice....<fill in the blank ...c'mon now we all know how it goes> *winks*

Good day one and all :)

Yes one does wonder how they get away with TOS violiations
