I'm for allowing it, because the Lindens' partnership and enabling of third-party sites which take photos, blogs, and therefore notecarded inworld private chat and photos taken without permission, renders their TOS meaningless. The Internet has defeated their restrictions and their wary censorship. Long Live the Internet.
.

While on your TOS rampage, please point to the part of the TOS that covers anything about snapshots? The whole "photos taken without permission" thing, while certainly impolite I suppose, is not a TOS violation. I can come take a picture of yoru avatar if I want to - you have no control over that, and it is not a TOS violation.

Now also while on your rampage, you may want to notethat I went beyond the TOS, which says absolutely nothing about this issue at all, and put this into the Terms of Use for Snapzilla:

From: Snapzilla Terms of Use

The primary subjects in any snapshot, defined as those who are the focus of the image (but not incidental background subjects), should be asked for consent prior to submitting a snapshot. The primary subjects of a snapshot have a right to request the removal of that image for any reason. To request removal, please contact remove@sluniverse.com . Include a link to the image in question, and it will be investigated. We reserve the right to make the ultimate determination regarding removal.

I know you don't like to give credit for anything, but I thought I would at least point out that instead of complaining about "photos taken without permission" being part of the pernicious TOS skirting, which is not a TOS violation, you should understand that mechanisms were put in place on those third party sites you dislike so much to handle what is not even a TOS violation.

Could we please move this conversation to classifieds / offtopic?

While we appreciate that someone is creating services for SL, this is clearly spam.

At best, it should be moved to announcements. This is a fan of the site saying "hooray" not an ad. If Adam had started it, it could be construed as an ad.

Weak attempt to censor people, blaze.

Give it a rest.

If this service was something new, like Snapzilla or something, I'd say it wasn't spam.

But people can just sign up to blogger.com

This is just a very sad sack attempt at extending a brand.

You see, our experts describe you as an appallingly dull fellow, unimaginative, timid, lacking in initiative, spineless, easily dominated, no sense of humour, tedious company and irrepressibly drab and awful. And whereas in most professions these would be considerable drawbacks, in chartered accountancy they are a positive boon.

Chulalongkorn!

You know, the Andorians have a funny saying, like "All roads lead to Orion (slave girls)" or somesuch thing. What that's saying, in effect (half of it, anyway) is that SLBlogger is pointing the way towards a tree. Meanwhile, at presentstate, it's a seed, and it's kind of funny to watch the joke posts roll out, but I've been keeping my eyes on the lefthand side of the screen and seeing who signs up and all that. It's great to see so many familiar faces but I'm hoping more people who previously hadn't had a blog, or wanted a new voice in the community, will be going the SLBlogger way. Some VERY lateral stuff going on here in the guise of genericism, which is why I digdug it.

What I'm saying is this: Let's keep writing on, so that a few days, weeks, maybe three to six months from now, we can take a look back and really put all that self-expression in perspective; if nothing else it'll be a chronicle of the cyberzeitgeist of Second Life, as expressed through a conglomerate, ragtag band of avatars, floating through 1's and 0's and hitting Appearance more than we should. Kinda like how Snapzilla started out unwittingly small but look at HOW it has HIT some major MILESTONES! Exciting times. :D

The best part is you can moderate comments to your blog entries. If someone goes nuts and decides to derail some conversation, you can just 'snip' it out, or whatever.

Beats the forums, in that regard. Actual on-topic conversation between the residents that can actually play nice, disagree without going into 'nutjob' territory.

You'll soon be eclipsing my post count, not that I give a flying fuck, but it is noteworthy that you will have done it in less than half the time I did, and with more than double my daily post count. You left Maxx in the dust already, and he is just a few months shy of two years in SL.

Now, tell me, oh holier-than-thou, net-nanny blaze, who needs to stop posting in the forums?

Can you say "internet penis envy"?

Edited to add: Aww man, you said FIC wasn't directed at any one person(s), it is a "mind-set", remember?

How ironic that you now attack Maxx with "you and your ficcing friends" in response to a post that did not address you in any manner.

It's ok, the blatant hypocrisy has gotten to the point where it is expected now, cognitive dissonance indeed.

I plan to post more exclusively at the SLBlogger site. I encourage more to do the same, thanks. Perhaps we can have a mote of sanity in the swirling maelstrom of idiocy.

I signed up last night, and will be posting soon. :)

I'll wager you 100L$, that "someone" will go and read what we have to say there. :)
