I wonder if people will be able to fly across the grid now - or will people still be attacking non-existant griefers in their absense?
Thier push scripting will just go from kill to disintegrate.

It wasn't. And most of the 'security scripts' that I've run into were pushers, not tpHome. I actually wouldn't -care- nearly as much if I simply *was* teleported home.
But in this case, the only thing we can do on the Mainland is 'wait until griefers get bored', since all the ban does is elevate them. |

Oh, that's funny. You mean, it was THAT EASY and everybody wrote miles of posts here complaining it was going to be SO HARD for the Lindens to stop bounce script aggressiveness??? Sounds like the job is only half done though. They can still push really far away, and still without warning. So back to the drawing board. Aimee, you can stop work on your button now. Turns out the Lindens just had to lift their little fingers. And to all the other scripterati out there, I have to say I'm in absolute shock. You had me really believing it was going to be this incredibly hard thing for the Lindens to scour servers and undo codes and all the rest. Turns out they just "deprecate" one little thingie. My God. This is a lesson indeed and you'll never get EVER believing you EVER again when you claim there's going to be "all this work for Linden programmers". As usual, you have no idea what you are talking about. The teleport home function and the push functions are totally different. It is the push functionality removal that would break all kinds of scripts. I know you like to blur the lines as much as possible to appear to be right, but for God's sake, at least know what the hell you are talking about instead of spouting off half cocked and trying to pat yourself on the back for being wrong yet again. This does nothing to prevent your avatar from being knocked all over hell, just from being sent home. What it does do is cripple private island owner's ability to get someone off of their islands. Edit - also, the Lindens took the easy way out by doing the lazy thing, which is to break existing code by deprecating a function. There are legitimate uses for the teleport home functionality, so instead of solving the problem, they just break things. I know this makes you happy, but as a precedent, it is a bad one. Now if they try to do this with the push functionality, it would break an incredible amount of things - I doubt they would be that short sighted. _____________________

Well.. At least now Prok can't claim that the Lindens have the ear of the scripti.. Because obviously in this case they listened to someone who knew less about scripting than even myself.

This is bullshit. Making a change without any replacement. Crippling all legit uses just because some users use it wrongly. There are fixes better than this.
Bullshit. _____________________

Could they be doing this in order to implement point to point traveling in the near future?

Well, in that case, I will say that I would rather be pushed off land than teleported home any day.
Why can't people continue to push griefers off? Because in the islands it's impossible? coco |

Because in the islands it's impossible? coco Except THAT is what most people are rallying against Coco They absolutely CAN keep doing that, with the eject function, or with good old fashioned pushing._____________________

No. If you push someone off of your land, *you* will get banned from SL, for a TOS violation. If you use Eject I think your 'safe', relativly... And eject appears to be a push for all intents and purposes. _____________________

If you use Eject I think your 'safe', relativly... And eject appears to be a push for all intents and purposes. No, it places them conveniently exactly on the edge of your land, effectively in an "endorsed griefing zone". If someone has 1024m2, 'eject' will do nothing but move them a few feet away, where they can continue to push/shoot/neg whatever you. Then, they can come back and hover about one foot above your head, IF you're on the ground, for as long as they like. |

This is not a bounce script, proc. This was never the function that most people were complaining about. You honestly have no idea what your talking about. Nobody ever said it would be difficult for the lindens to turn off a script function. Actually this was the pretty much the main "thing" that I have seen people complain about. Having to relog after a script trying to tp you home was one of the most common comments I remember seeing when the heat has been on personal security scripts. I find it quite amusing that many people complained and got this removed and now people want to complain because it is going to be removed. /invalid_link.html /invalid_link.html /120/85/48539/1.html /invalid_link.html /120/af/43062/1.html They're just from the last month and a half or so (and I've probably missed some as well). The thing is I've seen more threads about teleporting home, than pushing, in relation to security scripts which, at the end of the day, have caused the Lindens to take this action. As far as I can see the thing that people complained about most visibly was teleporting home. _____________________
