Hillary Clinton http://news.yahoo.com/s/usatoday/20050527/pl_usatoday/pollmajoritysaytheydbelikelytovoteforclintonNo offense to conservatives, but you might be shooting yourselves in the foot by believing your own rhetoric that she is unelectable. Not to help out the enemy, but I would take her seriously.

Wish they'd run one for Condi. Although this poll is interesting, I still fear it is skewed. I'd vote for her if she wore the 'blue dress' to the nomination

The people who really hate Hillary hate her with a fierce passion that defies all logic. It's even worse than those who hate liberals in general (by labeling us, just as an example, as amoral traitors).
But note that 33% of conservative respondants to that poll indicated that they'd be likely to vote for her. That frankly shocks the hell out of me... and gives me hope.
Public opinion is fickle, and Rove's goon squad are probably already firing up their mudslingers for the next election, but I feel like the pendulum is already starting to swing left.
Stay tuned, kids

I worked on campaigns to elect bush but I am more of a check writer and planner than hit the streets kind of person.
If Hillary ever ran, I would stop working and devote all of my time to making sure she was not elected.

I think she is a viable candidate, and her move to the center in recent months is encouraging...but this is a poll, and look at the source. If polls were right, Dubya would be retired in Texas right now.
Still, I look forward to watching the race....

Agreed. The passion with which she is still hated in certain circles will fuel a take-no-prisoners campaign that will make Swift Boat look like a preschool slapfight. After election night, I've tried not to put too much faith into polls, as they don't seem to accurately reflect what the outcome ends up being...for whatever reason *eyes electronic voting machine dubiously*

Well..not sure it will matter who runs. Remember..they have years to "perfect" the electronic vote machines and poll closings and ballot confusion and official bribing.
I think the days, if there were any, of honest and accountable elections are long gone...

And yes, some still believe that the polls didn't fail, the election did. I haven't seen compelling proof to support that conclusion, but I've seen some really interesting statistical anomolies...

I don't think there has even been an honest election in Chicago. There are even voting irregularities in the teacher unions votes here.

lol.. That poll means nothing as far as an election goes. The electoral college is what matters. Now, if they had done the poll by-state (and if the source could be trusted), and they then calculated likely outcomes based on electoral votes--that would be a more interesting result. Of course, without even knowing who the opponent would be, even that still means very little. It's no shock to me that in the *highly populated* NE and W coast areas she's popular, yeah.
I'm looking forward to the day that I can vote for a moderate Dem, but I doubt she's ever gonna be that.
"This may also reflect that she has been recasting her image as a more moderate person,"
i.e. Realizing that she's too liberal to ever get the support of the majority of Americans, and spewing out different bullcrap to make her seem more moderate. Or, i.e. "doing what politicians do".

Or, i.e. "doing what politicians do". She's too centrist for my taste, though not as centrist as Bill was. The Democrats' continuing willingness to abandon their base for wishy-washy middle-of-the-roadism probably cost them the last two elections.

Well, if she can do better than "Hilary Care" this time around, she may well be worth considering. I'd still favor McCain by a long shot.

If I could vote - I'd vote Hillary -- if not only for seeing some of the unaired footage of her kicking arse and taking names She is bad ass - and not afraid to call ppl out on both sides of the fence. Shit - I may just push and become a citizen if she runs... Just so I *can* vote for her.

You all remember how accurate those polls were for this past election.

Yeah gotta say that McCain is pretty cool too - Unfortunately I don't think he will run and thats a shame... I think we could do with a few more folks like him.

If she keeps talking up how she disapproves of gay marriage, wants a stronger military and avoids being photographed with Bill she's certainly in the running.

All this movement to the middle on Hillary's part is just opening her up to another campaign move like we saw against Kerry. The Republicans will go the flip-flop route and eat her alive.

And elect who? Bill Frist? Conan the Kaleeforniarian? They might have had a hell of an interesting ticket with Colin Powell and Condoleeza Rice, but they managed to chuck that for the same reasons the Republicans tank whenever they are put in charge - no imagination, and pandering to hard-to-please core groups.
McCain would be just fine. In the past he's speculated about asking a certain prominent black Democrat to run with him. But the Republicans won't nominate him for exactly the reasons above.

If Hillary was a badass should wouldnt be married to a man that doesn't respect or love her and has puiblicly humilated her before the whole world on more than one occassion with woman only marginally better looking than her. She is the sorriest excuse for a feminist, and embarassment to women, and a poor example for young girls. If she drop Clinton, I might be able to respect her as a woman, until, she is just a dumb bitch.

McCain is not electable. Colin Powell and Ms. Rice are not electable either. They are both too smart to be the first black President. Its a death sentence anyway. Also neither of them seem that greedy or self serving. I wish Forbes would run again, sure he is crazy and ugly, but its worth it for 10% flat tax.
