Oh, wait, there is no such thing as a wand that makes complex, powerful, lengthy code appear out of nowhere.
Sure there is! It's called the penis. Do you know how much complex code is in every pool of ejaculated sperm! The bandwidth of the penis is phenomenal, I read that somewhere. Unfortunately, to date, there's only one platform that can execute semenal code, the uterus. Even that is hit and miss, with login access showing up once every twenty-three days or so -- which makes SL look positively stable -- at best.

You know, if that kind of hit-and-miss system is powerful enough to maintain a running system (re: humanity) for millions of years, I don't see why Second Life can't give us a working API.

I mean, really.

Unlike genetic code, which has had thousands upon thousands of years to get to the point where it can even intermix multiple source codebases...

If Babbage worked to your expectations we'd have had Athlon 64 grade processor cores in the 18th century!

He only completed 1 section of the Analytical Engine due to the work required to build such a complex machine (sadly said section of the Analytical Engine was lost, recreations have been created since), Ada Lovelace wrote the first programming language, based off of of punch cards of the day used by the carpet industry. And it took 200 years to go from various small analytical engines (mechanical calculators and the mathmatitions that operated them) to ENIAC.

Now, Now, Now, gimme my FTL computing, 128 gigs of RAM, and fiber to scull... yeesh, stuff takes time, technology that inovates takes time. Life... (oh jeeze the creationists are gonna scream at me for this) took milions of years to get the formula to the point where it's a semi-viable if very buggy product.

All I ask of Second Life is a perfectly simulated Matrioshka Brain.
