From: Torley Torgeson Ah, Ben... I believe Fran was still wondering about the below: Will objects we donate into the kidgrid still bear our creator tags? Or will this information be erased?
Edit: Oh, and will they have access to our script library? Some useful goodies in there, but no sense in donating them if they'll have access Can you please answer these queries? I'm wondering about them myself. Thanks Sorry Torley - I was holding off on answering this until I got some more answers from the Dev team. I believe the creator tags will be maintained, but they might not link to profiles. I will give a better answer as soon as I know the answer myself. ben

I've had couple folks that have contributed to the University Library, to have their names stripped from the scripts/objects/textures there. What to do about that?

I think I have to agree with Zero on this. As much as I really like LL and what they've accomplished with SL, I don't think it's appropriate for them to ask their customers to donate their creative work for free. LL is a for-profit game software company and not a charity. It's one thing to base a game on user content. It's quite another to ask for donations for a product that we will never use and will only benefit the company.

From: Ben Linden We do like to see people rewarded for creating good content for Second Life. The problem exists on what is a fair method for reward - In the past, we have held contensts to submit content for new resident inventory, where we offer fairly substantial rewards. Historically, we only get a handful of entries when we do this. I think that this would be a good idea on a way to reward content creators. The problem of turn-out in the amount of entries could be linked to the type of contest that was being held. I remember that one of them was related to the best scripted gadget for new residents (or something like that). In this contest those who have no or very little scripting ability would be left out. Another of the contest was the Game Developers Competition, which also required for scripting abilities and for people to team up. While these were good ideas, it could explain why the turn-out wasn't as good as expected. If other types of contests were held each month, there would be better chances at getting more than a handful of entries. PS. I made a "braces" head tattoo that I would like to donate and will also be giving out as a freebie in our grid. Kats Kothari...bringing awkwardness from RL to SL!
