"Serious Discussion" forum Poll

Anything is better than the current system that is being obviously abused by a handful of players. Who tend to justify their abuses by claiming superior intellect, and the faults appearance of a cohesive agenda. Thank God the forums realy are not anything like SL.

Ask yourself, "Did I just say something negative about an individual? Something that - were it said about me - I would not like?"

Something not a fact ("so-and-so plays a robot in SL" but an opinion?

If the answer is "yes," then you have just done a personal attack.

Nothing I said was directed at an individual - I do firmly believe that many people who claim to want serious, civil discussions are actually incapable of having them. Where was the personal attack? There was none. That is my opinion, and why I think a serious discussion forum is pointless. If Catherine or anyone else recognized themselves in what I said, well if the shoe fits, that is not my fault. What Jellin said was also not a personal attack - she asked Catherine if she had asked for the same thing in the past so she could delete posts she disagreed with - which Catherine acknowledged she did. Where are the personal attacks, if you are going to come into this thread and admonish people? For someone who claims to want free speech, you have a strange way of showing it - it is only speech you agree with, otherwise you want to limit the expression of opinions.

This is exactly what I have been saying for some time now. The same handful of ppl enter any thread I and others post in and intentionaly derail that thread in hopes that you will lock it. As far as I am concerned this does not give me the same rights to post freely as other players have. Thank you for your time.

Cath, just some honest constructive criticism here. Hope you don't take it too personally or equate it as an attack against you, but hey, report me if it makes you feel better.

You wouldn't have this 'fear' if you wern't so smirkingly antagonistic and condecending. Your sarcasm is neither dry nor subtle. It's more like getting wacked with a large wet fish -- painfully obvious, smelly and embarrasing for everyone.

Cath, you bring a lot of this on yourself simply because you;re so antagonistic toward anyone who disagrees with you, and it's a shame because otherwise I think you're a great person and I remember a time when you were a good and warm forum presence. I remember the day all that changed and it still saddens me greatly.

I came into this thread and expressed my opinion of why I think a serious discussion forum is not needed and would not work. You are the one trying to limit what people can talk about Catherine. You didn't like what I had to say, or the fact that Jellin called you out on something, so as usual you cry foul and run to report someone. You proved my point exactly.

The forums have actually been really nice the last couple of weeks. I think the worst it got in that time was a Rant that ended up dealing with Trademark issues in SL. Yet even that thread went *really* well. I've been enjoying the forums lately, and thankfully haven't seen statements like yours above in a while.

This thread demonstrates why a "serious forum" is absolutely necessary. And why it's a silly idea and won't work.

It's also great fun to see people use terms like "logic", "irrationality", "whining", "racism", "bullshit drama", "triteness", etc., in illogical, irrational, whining, racist, and trite ways, merely to create more bullshit drama.
