Can we all just stop the "Anit-Prokofy" Mentality

I think the SL community has always been one of the most tolerant communities I've ever had the pleasure of belonging too. But, I am puzzled by a recent push to attack Prokofy at every turn. Sure, he can be verbose, arrogant, antagonizing and agrrivating, but quite frankly so can a lot of us, yet we go untouched in these attacks.

I find it incredible that many of you who attack Prokofy are the same that would be the first to say, "You can't censor US!" Yet, this is exactly what you want to happen with Prokofy. You wish him to stop posting his opinions, and therefore, censor his opinions.

Why is it that you feel you must go from thread to thread to thread and constantly attack someone for what they believe? Just because you don't agree with it? Well, that would mean the forums could easily be filled with nothing but LF and I yelling obscenities back and forth at one another, but I would think, if LF and I could learn to put muzzles on our dislike for one another, that everyone here could learn to do the same with Prokofy.

I can understand why you don't like Prokofy, but that's no reason to attack him at every turn. Instead of attacking him constantly, if you disagree with something he's posted, perhaps you should merely state your opinion of disagreement and move on, like most adults would? This constant "Ant-Prokofy" mentality is really starting to bother me, not because Prokofy is my friend, nor that I buy into what Prokofy thinks, it bothers me because you people have always been able to have differing opinions without bringing it down to a personal level. ONE OF YOU ESPECIALLY should know better, and while I hope you aren't continuing to encourage others to attack Prokofy, I still see you doing it, after you promised me you wouldn't.

Let's get back to what these forums are good for, discussing opinions, without calling each other names and acting like sixth graders. I'm sorry you might take offense at this, but quite frankly, the silent-majority has asked me to step in and post this, because we truly feel you are hurting these forums by your actions. The true FIC have now asked for your cooperation, otherwise, suspensions will be likely.

The day Prokofy is ever punished for all of his personal attacks against people is the day I will remove my foot from Prokofy's ass. Or leaves SL, or become sane. Until then...

The problem is that Prok has systematically lashed out against EVERYONE and then acts indignant and surprised when people lash back. He makes sweeping, broad generalizations, talks down to people, and otherwise makes a mockery of any sort of civillized conversation.

He has personal vendettas up the wazoo, conspiracy theories ahoy, and logical fallacies everywhere.

Just put him on ignore.

LF, you and I won't disagree about what Prokofy has done, nor how some of his beliefs are a bit over the edge, but when did that become reason to constantly attack someone else? Like I said, you and I have muted our dislikes, if two old dogs like us can, I'm more then certain everyone else here can.

Why would I do that? I don't care if Prokofy continues his paranoid quests, it bothers me not!

But today, I saw in two seperate threads, where Prokofy offered valid answers to questions asked, and yet, what was returned were irrational responses of people calling him names and then, did nothing to address his answers to say they were wrong.

I hear what you're saying. In essence, "be the bigger person".

That is well and good, but why do those who make statements like these, not direct similar statements at Prokofy? It really leaves me scratching my head quite frequently.

For the record: I don't respond to Prokofy anymore. I do, however, reply to those who are only interested in correcting and modifying the behavior of one side. I will continue to do so.

Then there are some of us who try and speak to Prok civilly and logically and still get insulted, are we part of this "mentality" too?

Already have stopped. I have mentioned in the recently closed thread that I only scan Prok's lengthly posts to find lies about me so I can correct them.

If you don't believe me, go find my last personal attack against him and post it here. I think you will find it was quite some time ago.

I haven't seen Prokofy attack someone straight off recently. I have seen him react to these attacks by striking back, and I've gone so far as to personally speak to him about that, as I have with ONE PERSON ESPECIALLY who promised me they would stop. Although Prokofy never promised to not strike back at others that strike at him, ONE PERSON ESPECIALLY promised to stop.

I have no problem if Prokofy starts calling you names, that you shoot back, although, I do think the "bigger" thing to do would be to stop talking to the raving lunatic. Read carefully what I'm saying. People aren't starting threads and then have Prokofy come into them and start calling them names. Prokofy has been answering questions, and people, instead of saying, "You are wrong, and here's why", choose to say, "You are and ignorant ass because you talk long."

that's probaly because they get the same freakout reaction when they try the "You are wrong, and here's why" method. before he went on The List i saw people trying to get along for a long time until it was clear they were just sticking their face in a fan over and over.

I consider its whole "Linden Labs favoritism/conspiracy with old players" to be a "personal attack" against me. I have no association with Linden Labs, they would want to have none with me, and it's annoying to have to hear it all the time.

Beyond that, I don't care if it wants to share its opinions, it's more than welcome to. The part that annoys me is it goes out of its way to comment on things which it admittedly has lacking or no knowledge of, in a manner which is seemingly nothing but intent to disrupt the conversation of the topic.

I think if you go back and read some of its posts in regards to technical matters and economic matters, and certainly social matters, you'll find that it isn't there to share an opinion -- it is just posting to be disruptive and problematic. This is why so many people are annoyed and snapping back.

I don't say this to imply that it always makes unintelligent statements -- it just needs to make a lot less statements in general, and stop pissing in everyone's proverbial cheerios.

For the record, i think prokofy is the best thing that happened to sl since L$=USD=Amazing COntent. Prokofy has united the forum from the usual hate on each other and LL into a unanimous anti Prok cabal. Where ever I go in SL, I can't find anyone who isn't talking about Prokofy's latest antic, how much they hate Prok, or speculations on the true nature of Prok. The percieved threat that he poses has made SL much more visceral for everyone involved as it has given a greater illusion that SL is a contested political terrain (very much one of the appeals of the forums themselves).

Personally, I thank Prok for all of the entertainment he provides, and that many of the other whack jobs who chase him around as a counter-vigilante vigilante squad provide as well.

I am with you all in wishing Prok would keep his posts and anecdotes down to a page or less so I could be bothered to read them. I've asked him repeatedly but he refuses. Prok provides great insights of SL sometimes (although always extrapolating the absolute wrong conclusions). ex: FIC, FYH, Tekki Wikki. Now, none of these things are really bad as Prok claims, but very real since most of us know if we fit the bill or don't and if someone else does. Plus they are funny - I like being FYH and I can thank Prok for giving my kind a name. So is learning that everything in the world really harks back to Bolshevick (sp?), Stalin, or Russia in some way or the other.

The only thing that bothers me about Prokovy is that someone who is new might actually fall for the crap put out as 'truth'.

Other than that, I could not possibly care less.

Do you remember SL before Prokofy Bob? Sure, there were some wars, but it was nothing compared to the past few months. It's as if this was Prokofy's goal, to cause a huge, non-stop war.
