Marcel, you know better than this. Shame, shame, shame! He hasn't posted any products for sale. The prices are what he paid for them.

Phil: Rubbish, the *business* is for sale. It says so in the subject line. Marcel: I don't see anything in the sticky that says "but if it's not average this rule doesn't apply to you."
ETA: I'm sick and bloody tired of spam spam spam. So sick and tired of it that I'm leaving the forum group in world because 99% of the forum notices that aren't party announcements are spam. *yawn* Marcel, if you were *genuinely* trying to find the forum-of-best-fit for your little ad, surely the one that says "no ads, this is for resident answers only" would have been the LAST choice?

Marcel: I don't see anything in the sticky that says "but if it's not average this rule doesn't apply to you." But it's not "products". You seemed to think he was advertising products. Either way, I don't think anyone will mind that Marcel stated here that he is selling his business and leaving SL, and suggested that any offers might be sent on a notecard.

It really does not belong here and you should know better, Marcel. Classifieds>Services, Classifieds>Employment Ops & Help Wanted (as it is technically a self-employment op) would be better.

Cristalle pish When you take your adverts out of your signature then you can lecture people on advertising in the correct places.

I also agree it should not have been posted here
as for ads in sigs, that is totally different and folks can turn off sigs so they do not see that part if they do not want to
that is like comparing apples to oranges
marcel knew better, he has been around the forums long enough
I am sure he also knew that if he posted here, people would post saying no no wrong place, and that would in turn just bump it
why not just AR it if you feel it is in the incorrect place, with a request for it to be moved to the correct subforum location?

There is already enough crap on this archaic forum for it to be classified as being rubbish, so another out of place post isn't make any difference so chill out chaps.
To the OP - out of interest what would you consider a serious bid?

No it's not, if you're going to take the moral high ground you need to be squeaky clean.

If he had put it in his sig like everyone else, no one wouldn't have had a problem. We don't need separate threads for people selling their stuff.

We don't need separate threads for people selling their stuff. We dont need posts asking us to take endless surveys, posts about the experiences of child vampire Avs, the never ending let this die thread, the silly things to do in SL thread. Half of the threads on the main page shouldnt be there as they are not asking questions but we still put up with it day in day out due to the worst modding in the history of forums. So why are you all getting your knickers in a twist because of one out of place post?

So why are you all getting your knickers in a twist because of one out of place post? Because there is a difference between "banter" and advertising, the first of which has been requested as permissible and the latter of which is reviled almost universally. And Marcel is an intelligent adult, he knows better. Yes, many of us sell things, including our businesses, but we don't make separate threads for them here. Get in line in classifieds like everyone else, or put it in the sig.

who said anything about moral high ground? his post is very point blank against the rules of this part of the forums AND he knew it, why else do you think he put.... From: someone The resident question: Do you want to get into business? it is one thing when folks advertise in a thread that can accept said ad, such as where do I find such and such, or who sells such specific items, etc but to make a post that states outright something is for sale, that is so very obviously an ad, that is what makes folks jump up and say, hey, you know better! now... if someone had started a thread asking where is the best place to find businesses for sale, then yeah by all means, if you are selling a business then post there (and if anyone starts one now, it will be pretty obvious as to why LOL) I personally do not care. I used to care, but I don't care anymore my post was only to make a point, on a personal level I say post whatever the hell you want, I am not forced to read it

So why are you all getting your knickers in a twist because of one out of place post? I agree none of those threads should be here too, however they are not blatantly advertising something for sale, which is right there in black and white saying not to do as for the one thread that I started, the never ending thread, I have one bad day, and make a comment about "I should report it to close it" and then I find out that the folks who pretend to like me, are badmouthing me elsewhere, and accusing me of "holding it over their head" which is so silly, I could care less about that damn thread, I wish I were not the one who had started it, and it was not intended to go on as long as it did, it should have just stopped, period as for worst modding, hell you need to get out there and have a look at other forums on the web, this one is tame in comparison

If I was selling up (no no no - leave the champers where it is - I'm staying) I'd want it to be known in RA as well as in any sub-forums that it's more suited to. Marcel has been a great asset to the forum, and I don't think it's too much to allow such a person to 'advertise' his business right here, so he can leave SL with a bit of money. It will give it the greatest exposure that this forum can offer, and I think he merits it. To be honest, I think that 'rules are rules' posts are a bit much in this case, and they would be in similar cases for many of the forum regulars.
I would have thought that the people here would have wanted someone like Marcel to leave as well as he can, and even welcomed this thread into RA.
