From: Cocoanut Koala Like I cared. Ulrika, what you stated above - you also stated in the other thread. I answered it there. For anyone interested in reading my response, it is in the "Mommy" thread. I, for one, will be glad if and when the day ever comes when the Off-Topic forum isn't used as the Cristianity-Bashing forum. It makes it unpleasant for those of us who are Cristians. coco Then don't put the stick in your enemy's hand. (Not YOU specifically, I'm just avoiding naming names of people missing vowels)

From: Lecktor Hannibal Sorry, I'm underedumacated being from 'Bama and all. Could you spell it out for me? All I saw was more inciteful trolling. I really can't presume to paraphrase someone else's punchline. All becomes clear in the third thread of the set, on "Destroying a Country" I think. The other two were setting the scene for that one. I'm not sure it won't make you cross, Lektor. Depends whether you enjoy what we are all doing here

From: Kevn Klein The problem is it would preclude us from having discussions such as exploring the origins of life. I would prefer we avoid making statements that are meant to upset or incite others, regardless of which side of the debate we are on. You have a good attitude, Kevn

Forgive me if I sound a little unimpressed, but I deal with that unpleasantness every day in the news when I read about those who are trying to dictate how I live my life and with whom. I'll let you guess as to who make up the majority of those folks. I do find it a bit humorous that a forum thread can get people all up in arms, but then when the shoe is on the other foot and I try to show the hipocracy and the oppressive actions of some (not all) religious folks, it get's brushed off as a non-issue.

From: Memory Harker What have you got against the letter "h," Coco? Help, help, it's being repressed! What are you talking about? coco OH, I GET IT! It's Cristiano's fault. He has so well trained me NOT for God's sake NOT to include the h in his name, I'm now not including it in the name of my own religion, for God's sake! haha

From: Chance Abattoir Then don't put the stick in your enemy's hand. (Not YOU specifically, I'm just avoiding naming names of people missing vowels) That's the entire point. I don't. Yet the bashing occurs, again and again. If I wanted to hear CHristian-bashing, I would go to a CHristian-bashing forum. But I don't. I say screw it. I'm sick of it. coco

And I don't care if someone has a clever reason for calling someone else an ethnic slur that will become evident later on, and then that person (and his admirers) can say, "Oh how clever of him! And weren't those people silly to take him to task for that ethnic slur!" Bull. This is no different. coco

From: Cocoanut Koala It makes it unpleasant for those of us who are Cristians. Hey, CoKo... what the heck is a Cristian? Someone who worships Cristiano? Sign me up! We could even make little statues of Cris... and lobby LL to declare Cristianism the official forum religion.

Or just who IS it okay to do this to, whereas it is not okay to do it to others? Maybe you and Ulrika and others who think this is so harmless should just make it clear which religious or ethnic group it IS okay to bash? According, of course, to your lights? I suppose it is okay to get on a game forum and advocate harassing Muslims? Maybe make fun of the headgear? Are you the kind who takes it out on every Muslim in the street when you don't like what the terrorists do? Or do you hate Jews? Let me hear about that one. Let me hear about how silly and inferior you think religious Jews are. Make fun of what you think their dialect would be while you are at it, Memory. That is all OKAY with you, Juro, Ulrika, Memory, and others? Cause somehow denigrating others proves one's own lack of hypocrisy? Bull. And Bull a million times over. Go play your Christian-hating games elsewhere. You wouldn't dare play Jew- or Muslim-hating games here. At least, I have never seen you do it. I DARE YOU TO DO IT. Go ahead. I know you want to; you're just too cowardly to. And when you do, I will be every bit as pissed off as I am now. You can all think this is very cute. I know frickin bigotry and hatred when I see it, regardless who it's aimed against. And it has NO PLACE on these forums. NO place. coco

I'd accuse you of masking your own hatred with the pretext of defending against it, thus letting you say everything you really think about certain people... but I'd be wrong because the last sentence there has invaded and non-consensually raped my sanity.

Isn't there some kiddy phrase for what you just said? Something like, "what you say to me sticks to you?" Answer the question. Is it okay to bash Christians but not other religious groups? In fact, it's not okay to bash either one, according to the TOS. And has no one else noticed how people on the SL boards feel it's open duck season on Christians, but they wouldn't dare take on any other group? I have. coco P.S. And consider your own logic. By your logic, a person can't possibly be adamantly against what others have done without somehow being guilty themselves of the same crime? Besides - hatred of what others? Who? My Christian maternal family, my Catholic/Jewish paternal family, or my beloved atheist brother? It's not me spewing the hate towards a specific group in these threads. It's Christian-bashing. It shouldn't be going on.

Yes. I never see the government or anyone one else changing the name of CHRISTmas as a national holiday. As a buddhist I resent the implication contained with in this fact that christians are superior, and christianity is the state religion of the USA. I hardly think that what is going on in these forums has been much "christian bashing." It is more like someone put forward the notion of intelligent design as a seriousl theory, and it has been dissected and found to be junk science by the majority of the forum posters. I am not sure a call to burn a bible really is christian bashing, though it does perhaps indicate that the poster has mroe than a little contempt for chrisitianity. But then Christianity has more than a little contempt for other religions ( I mean when was the last time a chirstian said : "well I see you point about there being no god and everymany has the power to become a buddha like christ did?" . But i haven't seen anyone on the forums telling someone else they were stupid or silly for being a christian. I have not seen some great call to throw the christians to the lions. I suppose that if you tell me that ther is evidence of the divien contained within the universe I might be inclined to agree with you, or at the very list respect your position. If you want to talk to me about the merits of chirstianity as an ethos for living, or debate the core question of do you beleive in the judeo-christian god, or discuss whther we are saved by acts, or by grace, then I will respect your position, and listen to the force of your beleif. Faith is a very powerful thing. But If you come to me with junk science, mand try to argue with me why intelligent design is a viable alternative scientific theory. I will say you are wrong, categorically and we will have a reasoned debate. this is not bashing christianity, this is bashing junk science cloaked in a similie of reason.

From: Jsecure Hanks What started as a few innocent threads.... Pontificate much? I find your words here, (and many of your posts) to be paternalistic and full of arrogance. Please remember that humility is also a part of Christianity and that the majority of the world does not belong to your particular religion. You might try studying the "live and let live" sections of that Bible you clutch so tightly to your breast.

I know frickin bigotry and hatred when I see it, regardless who it's aimed against. And it has NO PLACE on these forums. NO place. coco You shouldn't make assumptions, Coco - they have a tendancy to make you look less spectacular than you are. First of all - as I've expressed many, many times before - I do not have an issue with religion, mine is with some of its followers, specifically thier actions. I do not condone bigotry of any type - but I'm also not going to put up with any taboos about having frank discussions around religion. You say you get as upset when the foot is on the other foot - yet do your actions prove it? Did you vote for candidates that support a marriage 'protection' amendment? Or did you vote for candidates that spoke up in support of gay men and women and thier right to marry whomever they choose? What did you do, Coco? Hmm? I have been very careful to explain that I disagree with actions of some religious folks - I also have my frank opinions of religion, which I've shared because others have asked. I'm not here to make you feel good about your life decisions, Coco - I'm also not here to needlessly bash anyone or any group. So, without crossing any lines that might get me suspended from the forums, I'll politely tell you to go fuss with your hair girl - its a mess I'm sure you can figure out the rest.

From: Cocoanut Koala Make fun of what you think their dialect would be while you are at it, Memory. Well, yeah, Cocoanut, you're right: That was a rather injudicious choice, that dialect. I mean, they call the Bible Belt the Bible Belt for a reason, yes. But, in lieu of attempting a lame parry here, I agree with the intent of your above-quoted statement. I would've done better if I'd left the damning specificity out of my example. The rest of it, well ... *shrugs*

The rest of it, well ... *shrugs* Have you ever noticed that people with thick redneck accents or country music appear a lot in horror movies? There's a reason for that. Also, did you ever notice that 90's space in sci-fi is filled with Russians and rednecks? (Space Cowboys, Starcraft, etc...) There's a reason for that too.
