I agree. My point is that Bush is NOT a Republican. He's a corporatist. He simply does not represent the interests of our country. He represents the wealthy that serve him. Real Republicans do, even when I disgaree with them, represent our country's best interests. They SERVE the people. Real Democrats --same thing. I'm all for a solid 2 party system with both parties keeping each other in check. The Bush Party is it;s own monster and it's purpose is not to SERVE the Country, it's purpose is to feather it's own nest. I've been accused of being anti-patriotic, but I would remind those that do so, to remember what this country is supposed to be about, and that active and honest dissent against a power that seeks to subvert our Constitution is not only a very American notion --it is supremely patriotic. One of the best summations I've seen yet. Unfortunately, what I see happening with Americans is apathy. As long as someone isn't personally threatened by an issue, they tend to stay home with their toys and ignore all the fuss. Or confine themselves to listening to talk shows and yelling at the radio. I feel pretty apathetic myself. Do I believe my one vote makes a rat's ass of a difference? Not really. After the presidential election debacle in Florida, and similar stunts I think voting is an exercise in futility. But I still do it. It's easy to paste on a label of Left, Right, Republican, Democrat, yadda, yadda and dismiss people's concerns by stereotyping them. I believe the reality is much murkier. I know I vote independant. And my position on most issues is moderate, which is not currently reflected by a majority of political candidates. _____________________

In fact, it's a very bad reason. That's the type of votes I want thrown out, even if it was a vote for the same guy I voted for. So who's the ultimate arbiter of what a good reason and a bad reason are? The party in power? You? Who? What kind of system would that be? Much as I wish everyone would only vote on an extensive knowledge of history, policy, and current events, that isn't going to happen. If you let only a certain segment of the population vote - based on whatever category, whether it's knowledge, skin color, religion, or whatever - it's not really democracy. |

Yeah --but I don't have a problem with that. I have a problem with name calling, it turns me off to them and their message. In the end you hurt yourself far more than anything your opposition can do to you. If you call people names it means you have nothing intelligent to speak! |

I feel pretty apathetic myself. Do I believe my one vote makes a rat's ass of a difference? Not really. After the presidential election debacle in Florida, and similar stunts I think voting is an exercise in futility. But I still do it. See, close elections make me feel my vote was MORE important. It's the 60%-40% races that make me feel unimportant. |

My job as your President is to look at the world the way it is. And I clearly see the threats to America. My job is to worry about those threats. That's not your job. We got a lot of people in government worrying about those threats on your behalf, so you can go about your life. That's what we want. -- I think I'm even more worried than I was before I read this, Grand Ole Opry House, Nashville, Tennessee, Feb. 1, 2006
I don't know what all you people are worried about, looks like the president has got it covered. ![]() ![]() BTW Taco, what is electricity? ![]() _____________________
