Rolls eyes, indeed. It is a shame that people get banned for posting here. Not that I'm a fan of Ulrika. There's a lot of folks whose posts I wouldn't miss at all. I can even find some humor in this situation since Ulrika has been puttiing herself forward as a forum moderator long before the resmod program even existed; but that is not what guides my opinions on this issue. I separate my opinions on structure from my feelings about individuals and Selador summed up the execution of policy here quite well.


It's not about the issues or making the forums a better place; it's about individuals ensuring that the rules are enforced against those they don't cotton to. Overiding the reasonable analysis of the implications of an action due to an indifference to or maybe, even worse, an enjoyment of negative repercussions falling upon someone we aren't particularly fond of is pretty common. But that is what differentiates someone as a person of principle. Those individuals keep their eye on the ball and stay true to their opinions even when they couldn't care less about the personalities involved.

For all the people I've wanted to hush up on certain issues and as much as I've disliked the gang banging that I've seen, I wouldn't want anyone to be banned. Being excused for a spell to cool off is enough; but banning? Nope.

Tying forums missteps to access to SL was just the worst decision, not to mention a response to forum emotions run amuck, that I can imagine. At the time, critics were told to wait and see what happens. I've waited. What I see isn't good and the better forum which was promised to be the result still seems to be a silly pipedream to me.

It can happen to anyone. Even people you like. Just ask Panda or Sensual.


LL lost a lot of ground regarding alts with recent enrollment changes. They chose numbers over identity verification and thus it would seem that enforcement of these policies would be weak and uneven (what else is new, eh?). In fact, this would likely only effect people who come forward to identify themselves or are pointed out by others as you did in this thread for doing what sooooo many have been doing all along.

Rumor has it that there was a delay between the notification and the initiation of the in-world and forum ban. It's now in effect.

What I find funny is that some folks project their feelings onto someone and expect that person to conform to the projections. Were you the target of the posts in question, you would have the right to be offended or not to be offended. However, that doesn't mean the real target of the posts had to be offended no matter how much others demanded that they should be.

IMO, if there is a post "attacking" an individual, that individual should be the one initiating an AR.

It's OK. I think the people who know what happened know what happened and that's sufficient. People who are trolling to exercise a need to personally attack people can not be quelled by reason.
