i was afraid of this. See ya on the flip side or on second citizen Ulrika.

So I suppose some resmods who shall of course remain nameless but they may have got a high score in a recent poll must be happy now that their ineptitude, favoritism, and taking posts out of context have now resulted in the banning of someone who has been around for 2 years.

I'm so glad to see the resmod program working as intended!

How long one has been around should be irrelevant when it comes to enforcing forum moderation. Besides, it's not like she's really gone...just haunting the forums under other names. Which, in the end, really makes the whole moderation thing kinda' toothless when someone really has a needs to stir the pot and has lots of free time on their hands...but it is what it is.

Who's going to stand up to the resmods now that they've banned her? I think the first moderation was terrible and then followed it up with another ban to silence her. I've been a lurker but now I think it's time to speak out. :(

It is outrageous.

I agree that the poll was a bad idea. But this smacks of exactly what you say - a ridiculous ruling in the first place, followed by the smack-down silencing of its protest.

And tell me again why the grid needs to be cleared of Ulrika.

Tell me again how it is that this situation is so inextricably wound up with Ulrika in SL.

Tell me again how the only way to deal with undersired speech on the forums has to include suspension (or banning) from the game itself.

Tell me again how we are all so much better off because Ulrika can't log into SL for a week. Leaving us with . . . all the actual griefers on the grid.

Tying forum activity to SL itself was a mistake. All it does is punish speech inordinately, while letting less easily "provable" and far more egregious behaviors in world off-scot free, time and time and time again.

In-world suspensions and bannings should not happen for something like this. Punishment for forum behaviors should be limited to the forums.

I'm sorry to say that the trolling in this thread has really been sub par. Neither Jonas's grade-school tit for tat nor Billybob's nonsensical cry of plushie profiteering have really met the standard of trolling required for one of Ulrika's threads. She'd be disappointed. Tsk.

So, Ulrika, you did in fact go ahead and start posting with your alt exactly as you intended in post 3 of this thread? You know, a certain other resident very recently "circumnavigated a forum suspension with an alt" and was, apparently, permabanned for their trouble.

Jeez, I sure hope that doesn't happen to you...

Btw: Don't take my word for it that Uma Bauhaus is Ulrika's alt, in Ulrika's own words, in this thread, Uma is "the avatar we use in N'burg as our treasury.".

It would be casuistical of me to not interject at this juncture to mention that she used the word "we" and not "I", meaning myself, Kendra, or anyone else in Port Neualt could in theory be Sparticus too... :)

In that case they'd be violating the ToS anyway.

What's that? Is it a place for threads with lots of pictures or a place for threads about pictures?

Sorry, Umika. I DID warn you it was coming. :(

Thing is, LL wouldn't be able to make an effective case for permabanning a RL person for using an alt while that person's main is banned. Look closely at the ban notice...it's addressed to Ulrika Zugzwang. That ban notice, as written, only covers Ulrika Zugzwang.

Well yes but the point was that the first ban, which precipitated the second post and the second ban, was undeserved, was for a post taken out of context and it was an ok post except for ONE WORD which the resmod in question had a personal problem with. That resmod then showed it to the Lindens for review, again, pointing out the thread without putting it in context and thereby DECEIVING her 'employers'. The Lindens of course, backed her up, because out of context I guess it might have looked as if Ulricka was defaming a person. She wasn't. It was a joke. Everyone but the resmod in question knew it was a damn joke. I'd even go as far to say that the resmod in question was deliberately obtuse and deliberately deceived her superiors in order to get the poster banned. The subsequent reaction and second post was just gravy.

There's no one who hasn't screwd up in this little sad scenario - but Ulricka is hardly the worst offender here and she's the person taking all the heat. No one else is getting spanked. Just Ulricka. That's flat out wrong.

Furthermore it points out a serious flaw in the resmod system. Ulricka may be the first highly visible example of res mod abuse -- she certainly won't be the last.

I didn't know it was a joke. However even if it was a joke, that doesn't excuse breaking a rule. "sorry officer I was only joking when I killed him" its still murder even though the offender was joking.

for the record, while I think she's persistently breaking the ToS and the terms of her ban, I don't think Ulrika is guilty of murder.

Note I am not saying LL can't do it. What I am saying is that the justifcation is weak since that notice is addressed to the one account and does not cover other accounts that the person may have.
