From: Rasah Tigereye A lot of gays are also hardcore computer geeks, with messed up rooms, no fashion or hygene sence, and who have pottet plants with dried soil that hasn't been watered in years. It's just that those gays typically don't come out of their rooms, so aren't seen. Uh... I'm a computer geek with fake plants, I'd like to think good fashion sense, and decent showering habbits when I'm not on a weekend-long guild raid

From: Corvus Drake I live in the American south. It's frightfully common. Scarry. Sorry to hear that. I live just above the mason dixon line, so "the south" is just a drive away. It really sucks that those southern simple-minded bbigots have a monopoly on such a nice weather. Canada is great, but I'd rather have Florida weather. Wish I could mix the open culture of Canada with the nice climate of Florida... OH! I'll just move to Italy!

Kevn, would you feel comfortable in a public shower with a mixed group of straight men and gay men?

From: Reitsuki Kojima Possibly. -.- If sweden can have a Pirate political party, USA should be able to get a furry one. We can run on the platform of lowering computer repair bills and raising drama. The Fix and Bitch economy, as opposed to Tax and Spend, or the current Cut and Run one.

From: Kevn Klein What do you know of Florida? I lived there for a while. Have a timeshare I visit often (once or twice a year for a week or two). Used to work for the Mouse for a while, too. Love the climate, love the people (mostly cause most of them weren't Americans), but hate the political climate.

From: Kevn Klein What about the political climate do you hate? The hypocritical moralist grandstanding, subverted by corruption by lobbyists, illegal money, and sex scandals. I.E. Florida's current republican politicians, sherifs, and other government heads.

From: Kevn Klein You may feel very natural about showering with homosexuals, but most straight men don't. Because, of course, gay men walk around with these huge dayglo tattoos on their foreheads that say "I'm Gay!". That's so you know if you've ever actually showered with one. From: someone It's your morality being pushed if you insist straight men shower with homosexuals. It's a sad social morality that presumes that gay men would consider it erotic to shower with a bunch of hairy-backed, flabby bellied, flaccid-dicked straight guys. In fact, it's a sad social morality that's pushed this unearned burden of shame on a segment of our fellow humans -- that guilt isn't natural, it's impressed upon them by people like you. From: someone But if we must choose a moral basis, we will usually gravitate to the morals of the majority. It may not seem fair, but that's how it works in a democracy. In the Middle Ages, social morality called for burning witches at the stake, too. Maybe it's an idea whose time has come again. Why stop with gays?

Actually, if you want to get into it, there were many homosexuals also burned during that time period. That's why the term "Flaming Faggot", meaning burning kindling, is now a derogatory term addressing homosexuals. And why I won't use the term even in jest.

But I wonder what exactly you are talking about, I live in Florida and I have seen nothing that isn't happening in Dem controlled states. In fact, you discribed Clinton's government to a tee.

Check out stuff on Orlando's sherrif, the election Catherine Harris is involved in, and the old yet still continuing REALLY backwards anti-gay adoption laws and political fights. That's just the start.

I read about Harris, but so far I just see a witch hunt, the left leaning newspapers hate her, I know that. The laws on adoption are from the time Democrats ran the state.

The laws on adoption are from the time Democrats ran the state. The adoption law was spearheaded by Anita Bryant, a conservative christian republican. Rep. Katherine Harris, US Senate candidate - Probed for campaign donations from MZM, Inc. (related to Duke Cunningham probe) Rep. Tom Feeney - Recipient of contributions from Abramoff. Probed for corporate ties to Yang Enterprises, involved in over billing state of Florida. Feeney was Jeb Bush’s 1994 running mate for Lt. Gov. Rep. Ric Keller - Recipient of contributions from Abramoff and Kidan. I can't at the time find the link for the Orlando sherif ellection/corruption scandal, so feel free to disregard Should I even bother going into the voting debacles of both 2000 and 2004? (voters purged from voring rolls, unadequate amount of voting booths, stolen ballots, etc) Besides, I'm sure you can agree that Florida isn't exactly a liberal bastion of tollerance. Some of the big cities there are ok, but the place as a whole has that nose stuck in the sky, I'm better than you cause I'm a white christian living in a gated community, kind of a feel.

From: Kevn Klein I accept your apology. It's quite understandable you would mistake my points as my belief gays shouldn't get married. Now you know I never said any such thing. That's not what I appologized for. I never said you thought gays shouldn't get married. I appologized because I said that you offered it as an excuse to ban gay marriage. What you actually did was compare homosexual marriage to cocaine useage. See where the confusion comes from? From: Kevn Klein It appears here you are suggesting it's OK to legislate morality (cocaine is wrong because it's harmful or fatal) but not legislate morality in the case of homosexual marriage. But homosexuality can be harmful or even fatal.

Florida was run by Democrats until Clinton came around. So it was Democrats making laws about adoption. There were no arrests? And?.....? You seem to stereotype a whole state, minus the big cities. What were you saying about bigotry again?

From: Reitsuki Kojima Better is subjective. There are others. Any idea what these others are? I suppose, "because I met a gay guy once and I didn't like him" would be a non-religous reason. I would deem this as a "not-better" reason. How about this. What is a non-religous reason that YOU consider "Better"?

We've got one in the other thread - the "meaning of the word" arguement. It's actually fairly compelling to me, as a student of English, in an abstract sense. From: Zuzu Fassbinder How about this. What is a non-religous reason that YOU consider "Better"? This isn't about me

Yeah, I just saw that thread. Its better, but still not very compelling. From: Reitsuki Kojima This isn't about me Sure it is. You said that "Better" is subjective, so I gave it a grounding. I could have asked for an example that I found better, but I thought that would be unfair.
