Kinga if you seriously think we all think abortion is good, you have obviosuly been skimming over or skipping posts entirely.

EVERYONE in this thread does not want abortions to happen. We all want to find a way to stop them from being needed. What divides people is the view that the government needs to tell us what we can and can't do.

Everyone wants the same thing, so why can't you open your eyes and see that? Start working on a plan if you want to make a difference, don't just sit here and judge.

I don't think murdering kids is good, and I'd never have an abortion, but I'm not trying to make anyone else conform to my morality either. I wouldn't want anyone to tell me I couldn't do anything I wanted to with my own body, so I don't try to tell other people what to do with theirs.

You do realize the personal attacks can get you bannenated, right? If you wanna insult people, you can do it in PM.

But really, no one here is arguing for abortions to be MANDATORY, but there are times that they are necessary, whether you want to believe it or not. There are times, such as Siobhan was referring to, that not only is the mother's life in jeopardy, but the baby too. Would you rather have two die?

I know from experience what it feels like to lose a pregnancy. I had to have a D&C because my body, for whatever reason, did not do what it was supposed to do (yes, they count those as abortions too - even though my baby was already dead). I will tell you this, it's a really horrible feeling to have a routine ultrasound - see your little baby forming but not seeing any heartbeat. It's even worse to have that technician tell you, "I'm sorry, but your baby is dead."

I'm pretty sure I'd never have an abortion for convenience. I also know that most of the people that I know who did have abortions didn't find either the pregnancy or the abortion all to convenient either. That is something they will have to live with for the rest of their lives. It's not for me to judge them for making such a difficult choice. It's not really for anyone else to, either.

Thank you both. It did happen almost 9 years ago, but it is still something I will never forget. I shared that story to illustrate a point, though. The abortion rate does include cases such as my own. I don't know when or even if they have stopped using cases such as mine in those statistics.

By the way, I have two little boys under the age of five... taking offers for the older one today

while there has been some serious discussion within this thread, it has also seen more than it's fair share of name calling, et al. as such i am closing it and submitting it for Linden Review. once a decision is reached, there will be a notifying post of the final decision.

Whlie I appreciate the passionate debate in this thread, I've read over the last few pages and found many personal attacks and other non-constructive discussion, as such I'm going to leave this closed. Please be respectful of one another when discussing such heated topics in the future.
