HA! I arrive back to the forums just in time. In SL I'm known for a lot of things, such as the aforementioned RUNNING OF THE CORN. In RL there are a few too, but its hard to top this one!

Tori Amos blessing you and your hands!?

Please, tell me that reading it the 'wrong' way is the correct way...

Like I said, I was/am the first Cid. "Legend has it that after El Cid died he was strapped onto his horse and ridden into battle. The enemy was so afraid of the invincible rider that they all went back to their boats and El Cid won the battle dead on a horse." I was napping, or as i like to call it, taking a siesta.

Are you positive it wasn't actually Marge?

I once disconnected from the 'puter and went outside.

Ha fun thread.

* I've been dribbled on by Jimmy Page. Shortly afterwards Lemmy stole my pint.
* In the Bond film 'A View to a Kill', there is a scene with a crowd on a bridge in Paris. I'm one of them.
* As a kid I used to hang out with ska band The Specials.

Since folks are doing IRL claim to fame, I'll jump back in ...

I worked on a major motion picture that starred Pre-famous Corey Haim, Charlie Sheen, Winona Ryder and Jeremy Piven. (Lucas ) Spent the summer doing that, got to turn down 20th Century Fox as I'd already been hired to the project by the extras casting agent, but got my sister and a bud from high school that job instead! My visor did make it into the film, I'd loaned it to one of the actors, it was blazing hot that summer!

Met Ula Schtuckle, German film maker (sorry if I got the spelling wrong, it's been over 20 years) as well as Jan Troll, the second most famous Swedish director (ridiculously shy man but sweet), Father Guido Sarducci (yes he talks like that out of character and is the thinnest, tiniest guy).

Had Gary Sinese and his family as the sole passengers on my trolley for about 30 minutes, nice chat, those eyes are riveting! I've met quite a few Chicago broadcasters and politicians, Judy Barr Trapinka included, rowdy woman. Partied with the Gov (Ryan) and Da Mare (current Daley), ok there were a couple of hundred other folks there but did end up hanging w/the MC, Tim Kazurinsky (Saturday Night Live - Sniglets etc.), who is funny, charming and clever even when plastered.

I've been on TV a few times driving a trolley in parades and advertisements.

I'm briefly in a movie called Me and My Matchmaker , my sister's courtship and wedding are featured.

Not that many folks would know about it but I did manage a corporate takeover of a company I worked at years ago. Did the restructuring, store design, everything including consolidating the business from two states to one location.

I say what I mean and mean what I say.

Michael Jordan accidentally stepped on me once (charming man!), it was in LA, shortly after *Space Jam* came out.

Saw Jackie Chan walking down the street another time with an entourage of about 15, there were fans following him, trying to take pics or get autographs and Mr. Chan was acting like he was very special or something :p

Hmm...

SL:
- Shwan's oldest island rentor (pre-1.6 :) )
- Giving InnerLife and Numbakulla's Pot Healers Adventure good homes.
- The 'link to Uru' - social evangelist and supporter of Uru, even today.
- Make people wonder 'what exactly *do* you do anyway?'

RL/non-work (sorry, work-related still held in check via ethics contract):

- At State of Play, met a former Ubisoft employee who was involved with Uru Live. Now is a community manager for There.com. That alone was worth the admission, as some of the discussion I had with him helped to temper my anger towards Ubi, in understanding an extra detail or two.

- My activities in Until Uru last year made it to a video sent to Cyan during its original farewell. Not sure if my TeamSpeak recording during UU's anniversary got anywhere, though I'd like a copy. ;)

- My first convention was ShoreCon 94 (I think I still have the shirt to prove that). Anyone in the games convention scene should know what a 'distinction' *that* was; You'd think I'd have run screaming from the rest of them! Despite that, I've gone to many conventions in the past years, volunteering my time to several groups and overall having a good time.

- I've attended Dexcon several years now, both the early and recent ones. I'm preparing to do a presentation of social 'meta world' platforms for Dexcon 9 this year; SL will be one of those that I plan to show.

Fun thread!!!!
Although i don't have much to add, but heres my $0.02 :)

In SL:
Im most known as the business owner that spends more time AFK then actually active in game.

Before i knew that Philip was "THE LINDEN" i asked him to marry me while i was giving him a lapdance

In RL:
My Hubby went to highschool with Jared Hess Writer/Director of Napolean Dynamite. We were living within a 3 block radius of where most of the movie was filmed. He spoke at my Sister and brother in law's highschool Graduation in which i was in attendance.

Thats my story, and im stickin to it

Hmm. Out of the many odd claims to fame, I'd have to say that the oddest was being ordered by a US Ambassador to herd cats. There were over 50 of the creatures. That is a lot of cheap bait tuna...

Also ordering my driver to jump a curb with a cargo truck to head *into* the circle of AK-47 armed guards for the President of Namibia (which we proceeded to do) ...

I climbed Mt Fuji once at night during a typhoon...

...and a 950 foot tall sand dune on the Tropic of Capricorn laced with scorpions (props if you can name the dune) ...

Gone completely around the earth, eastward, in 30 days. 7 international flights, 9 total, no lost luggage. While carrying a real painted ostrich egg and a katana....

No, I don't have a normal life at all.

I didn't realize they actually let people take katanas onto airliners. o.o I mean, I saw it happen in Kill Bill, but I thought that was just Hollywood BS.

They do when you have it as checked baggage in a hard rifle case. :) I study iaido, so was bringing it through Japan for training. It's just a pain and hassle, the case is really large. Airline checking had more of a doubletake being told it was a sword and not a rifle.

The egg required no special treatment other than caution.

ya, it's amazing what they will let you check as baggage. Fire arms, strange pvc shell xray proof canisters (camera equipment). I've done both of those and it is a pain, but feasible enough. The amazing thing is I've had them take away little half inch snips like hygien type stuff. Oh and Off bug spray, that's a no no.

Actually, I had less problems getting through the US (this was in 2003) than Japan. In Japan, swords are pretty regulated, so at the airport they hand inspect them. If it's iron, it must have papers, because the number of real swords produced each month is regulated. If it's not, no problem. So they'll test that with a magnet; if it sticks, better have registration papers. But they're real respectful about it.
