I bet he didn't send her to the cornfield :p

Pfft, when I went there, it was empty. I bet he was always going there with her to get some alone time. ;-)

"Discontinuation", not "discontinuance". That's not a word.

great job of making a total ass of yourself!

if youre going to attempt to belittle someone you should at least know what youre talking about.

looks like you really arent better than anyone else...there goes your illusions =*(

Nobody is better than me (except Bub Linden), so you all might as well stop arguing. ^^

In accordance with the standard Second Life management process and our commitment to continuous improvement of our product, Linden Lab is announcing that effective March 23, 2006, Second Life will be retired from service. The forums herein will remain in service as we have found that residents find it more of an amusement than being inworld. As such, we are currently in the process of removing all assets in the asset server to start with a clean slate and make way for something excitingly new coming your way. 1.9.0(17) is the last Maintenance Release for the 1.9.x release. We have found that the current code is far too complex to fix and improve and so have decided to move on to development of a brand new version of Second Life.

We hope you have enjoyed your stay in Second Life and wish you all the best until the release of a much better product sometime next year.

Blimey. Well. It's not a word in English, but it certainly appears to be a word in American, and Lawyer. Thus I wholeheartedly apologise to Cottonteil for suggesting otherwise.

As to those AR'ing this thread, i don't have a problem with this thread (it appeals to my sense of humor). Considering that official announcements occur in the Announcements forum...

If this were something more plausible i'd take action.

Actually Jeska made an announcement not too long ago in General... so... :p . Which I kinda found odd myself!

Knob.

Hahahaha!

I always loved that label. :D

I wouldn't waste to much time with him, his post history indicates some issues..

I think we humans are making all these words up as we go along. It would be wonderful if there really was a rule book out there, so that we can go off and study it and then smash it over the heads of the people who break the rules within.

Oh wait.. we have the bible.

Moved to Off-Topic so you can continue, whatever you're doing. As I don't see it has a lot to do with Second Life itself :)

Due to the "official" notice and various complaints sent to the resident moderators of the forum this thread is closed.

Following Linden review, this thread remains closed because it is no longer productive in relation to the original topic.

And about the topic, satire in the SL Forums is good grounds for stating intentions clearly, lest there be any confusion. Obviously, any real announcement will come from someone with the last name "Linden". :)

First, some serious things I should emphasize: interpreting the forum Guidelines and Community Standards can be a challenge, and I'm not thinking my best right now because I have a big headache. If a thread is closed, I should explain better about why it was--I'm still learning this.

I reread the thread, and although impersonating a Linden employee is against the Terms of Service (5.1.ii), c'mon, really, I don't want us falling into a humorless and grim gridverse without JOKES. The very foundation of Second Life is powered by the creative chaos that also abundantly flourishes on the SL Forums in Off-Topic. I'd be an anti-me to not embrace that, although working and playing in the same space, it can be difficult, as well as extremely rewarding.

That being said, I'm all for more friendly fun, and recognize that from the context of the actual posts made in this thread, it's not broadly intended nor being interpreted as an actual service announcement. :p Besides, I already posted here so anyone seeking clarification can read what I said. And on top of that, yes, I know there've been previous threads in the same spirit.

I made a mistake not realizing when posting that this thread had already been moved to Off-Topic (metameta), and compounded it by not stating a clearer reason. I apologize and hope you'll forgive me... and heck, let me know if I'm not remembering my roots here.

THREAD REOPENED! USE THESE FORUMS WELL! =)

P.S. The Corn Field is nothing compared to The Watermelon Patch, hehehe. ;)

Sweet. Thanks for reopening. Now we can let the thread die in peace.

This continuance following the discontinuance of a thread about the discontinuance of the SL continuum has got me continually confused, so please discontinue the continuance of my confusion.

Continually yours, Nolan

Great post, but clearly untrue. The forums will all be disabled except for off-topic.

The worst part about the corn field is that you have to listen to all the Hee Haw jokes.
