From: Cristiano Midnight Please do illustrate how in the gaming console market that Sony, and not Microsoft, is the lesser of evils. Remember when Microsoft put out their first console onto the market with a catalog of sub-par (and not innovative) games? I distinctly remember that they were losing money. And then they did the expected, they flooded the market with advertizing blitz and full in-store setups in every Best Buy. Quantity over quality. At least Sony has some decent games. Me <3 Nintendo

From: Cristiano Midnight LOL I didn't see that one coming, you never fail to surprise, ZugZug.I plan on purchasing a Revolution as well, and have the little purple lunchbox, which secretly, I only bought to play Animal Crossing and Pikmin (but I won't admit to Mario Sunshine). I had most of the NES games and the Golden Statue... And my farking girlfriend erased my profile. Hello, my house is the one with all the RARE ITEMS in the basement and whose sidewalk is paved with fossils. Stupid f@(*$& girls.

Me <3 Nintendo Chance, You can dislike Microsoft all you want, but what you are saying about the XBOX is just not true. The first XBOX had a lot of successful and high quality titles that were exclusive. Additionally, when a game was cross platform, without fail, the XBOX version was the best one to buy. (for example, the Grand Theft Auto games are superior on the XBOX - they have higher resolution textures and faster frame rates than the PS2 versions) The hardware capabilities were simply beyond that of the other two platforms. There is no denying that Sony had the best variety of games overall, but the XBOX is the better platform and I found myself playing my XBOX far more than my PS2. Sony also had over a year lead and an established platform to start with. A few XBOX games that come to mind: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Jade Empire Elder Scrolls III Fable Project Gotham Racing 1/2 Need for Speed Underground Midtown Madness III Splinter Cell series (which started out exclusive) Ninja Gaiden Halo / Halo 2 Crimson Skies Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Psychonauts Microsoft also did something that Sony was unable to do. XBOX Live has been a tremendous success, and is extremely popular with gamers. Sony's mishmash of online support is medicore at best. I am a huge Nintendo fan too, though I think they went astray with the Gamecube. There were a few high points, but overall the system was disappointing and the market yawned. I am looking forward to the Revolution, though I hope that Nintendo does not rely too heavily on the past to skate by. I am not a fan of their handhelds, though - I do love my PSP.

But it is true because it's a subjective assertion. For all the "high quality" of their titles, there is very little innovation in gameplay. However, I'm still foaming to play Ninja Gaidan because I've heard that there are more moves than a fighting game and it's supposed to be one of the hardest games ever- but one title isn't enough for me to declare them innovative. The platform is only as fun as its games; it doesn't matter if it's diesel powered with hemispherical pistons and a black-hole's pull of torque if the games are knock-offs.

From: Cristiano Midnight You can dislike Microsoft all you want, but It looks like we have an MS fanboi! Strap him to the chair, open his eyes with toothpicks, and make him watch movies of MS crushing corporations, coopting the innovation of others, and expanding their monopoly to the detriment of all. Your consumption undoes your own freedom. Death to Microsoft! ~Ulrika~

Innovative is also in the eye of the beholder. Most games now are generally derivative and it is hard to stand out. Splinter Cell was pretty innovative, as was Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. The Project Gotham Racing series was also innovative in that it was not about speed, but about style of driving that you were rewarded for, which made it much more challenging. That series also a tremendous amount for the visual quality of the genre. Project Gotham Racing 2 is the best looking racing game so far, and Project Gotham Racing 3 on the 360 outdoes it exponentially. My only complaint about the XBOX is that Microsoft has killed it prematurely. Having played the XBOX 360 though, I have to say, I am willing to give up my old one - the difference is stunning. Playing Project Gotham Racing 3 on a high def TV is the most beautiful gaming experience I have ever had. The XBOX Live support is definitely innovative, it really added a lot to the experience on the platform. I have had a lot of fun playing games on it. One of my favorite moments I can think of was playing Midtown Madness 3, and everyone else but me in the game session were from Japan. They all had sports cars, and I had a big ass limosuine, and I kept driving around and crashing into them. They were shouting at me in Japanese on the voice chat. Good times. BTW, you are right about Ninja Gaiden - it is what I loved about it. They even released a second version Ninja Gaiden Black, which is even harder lol.

You have become completely divorced from the ramifications of your consumption. You are so enamored with the object of your consumption that you have lost the ability to question whether or not the act of consumption is detrimental to yourself or others. This is precisely what SUV owners and Wal-Mart shoppers do as well. ~Ulrika~

Your first sentence was addressed in my first sentence. It's subjective and I feel like slight improvements to tried and true games don't represent much innovation. I actually prefer the first GTA over the first person console games for that reason. As to the Ninja Gaiden comment, don't make me have a wet dream.

~Ulrika~ Actually, that is not true. I disagree with you on the harm of Microsoft and choose to support the company willingly. You do not know what I do or do not take into consideration when I buy something. I also do not own an SUV, and do not shop at Walmart for the very reasons you cite.

I thought about getting the Xbox 360 when it came out and I'm glad I didn't, because there have been reports of problems with some of them. Like it crashing while playing Gotham City Racing 3. I'm sure after a few months it will be resolved and I'll get me one.

I have surrendered in the Console Wars, starting with the Radio Shack Telecentre and ending with the Gamecube, I have a huge box that once held a half-height fridge now full of unused video game systems from 1976 or so to 2000.
Never, never again. I've always never finished any of my games cuz I turn to my better PC ones.
Until someone beats the C-64 "Raid on Bungling Bay" and "Wizball", I will believe that the video game industry is DEAD. LONG LIVE COMMODORE! _________________________________________

God says: 'I like that, come sit to my left. Bill Clinton, what do you believe?"
Bill Clinton says: "I believe in people. I believe the people should be empowered. I believe no one has the right to tell someone else what to do."

All resources are finite. Consume anything and it will have ramifications. Your computer is killing our environment, your broadband is running on oil.
