It's wrong on so many levels.
  1. Furthering the Microsoft monopoly through the purchase of an Xbox.
  2. Turning a blind eye to the low wages, lack of health care, and male-dominated management by shopping at Wal-Mart.
  3. Placing a possession above the well-being of humans.
  4. An ignorant manager failing to recognize the importance of a spontaneously created system to maximize equity.

  2. Turning a blind eye to the low wages, lack of health care, and male-dominated management by shopping at Wal-Mart.

You left out the way walmart gets around zoning and environmental requirements when they build their stores, or how they eliminate their competition by flooding the market with small walmarts and once their own competition is eliminated, they eliminate the competition their stores have with themselves by opening super walmarts and shutting down the smaller satellite stores... etc... etc... This forum needs an anti-walmart thread. :)

Nope. Our only electronic vice is an Apple G5 with a 23" Cinema HD display. Aside from that we are using a 12-year-old TV, 15-year-old stereo equipment, and virtually no consumer media (CDs and DVDs). We dropped out of the consumer lifestyle years ago and are richer and happier for it. :)

Additionally, as you could probably guess just from what you know of me from the forums, I'm quite dedicated to avoiding sending my money to corporations that are in the business of oppression. Thus, an Xbox from Wal-Mart is a double sin.

As a matter of fact, this is the sole reason I play SL. It has a MacOS client and uses Linux servers.

Oh and woo is me, that I have a job that pays me enough to unwind at the end of the day with a state of the art gaming system. I really feel bad for myself.

We are all driven by our desires. In your case it is the need to purchase a video game system. In my case it is the need to stop a monopoly from spreading. You want the game system more than you want to stop the monopoly from spreading and I want to stop the monopoly from spreading more than I want the game system.

You had me right up until the final paragraph. Apple is as much a monopolistic company in their own niche as Microsoft is, they just have better PR. You using SL because of their Mac client doesn't make you any less supportive of or beholden to a monopoly. Linux fits your agenda - nothing from Apple or any other consumer company does.
