Trouble Logging In

I am having the same problem logging in. It hangs at 'preparing inventory'. I have to ctrl/alt/del to get out of it because it says it is not responding in the task manager. I am rather new to SL ( about a week and a half) and have noticed lag and other problems the past few days and now can not get on at all. Is this a common problem with SL? I know that my pc can more than handle the game so I know it's not me. Any info would be appreciated.

See Title. Always check the Announcements forum area. This is where Linden Lab employees post when there are technical problems or important notices.

There is an ongoing issue over the last 24 hours that started with a HardDrive failure on a critical system. Subsequent attempts to fix the problem have caused more issues of their own.

Hang tight, I'm a newbie and am frustrated too; but I also know some people that have been playing SL for a few months and say this is NOT normal.

I got the exact same reaction when i tried to log....stuck at inventory then back to sign on screen. Glad to know its not my pc but a prob Lindens are working out...in mean time have a beer on me. LOL

Yes ! I cant seem to get on at all. I sign on and it goes to prpare inventory, then directly non responsive. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, rebooted several times. I don't know what to do. This is a brand new computer and totally compatiable. All has been well untill today. Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated.

There is a section of the forums called "Announcements". It contains important information about problems or issues with the game.

If you read it, you will find that SL has pretty much been down all day.

Ahh okay yes I see now. Sorry Im a brand new player. Im not exactly familiar with where everything is on these boards yet. Thanks I will look at announcments first from now on. : )

Folks... check the annoucements section before you start complaining... it tells you all and has a whole-hearted admission from LL that they seemingly made things worse by trying to make things better earlier today.

Expect more down time tomorrow A.M. but hopefully they will get it fixed. As for logging in now... YOU WILL GET IN!!! It just takes some time and yes you may have to try a few times but don't give up... once you get in it is well worth it... the game FLYS once you get in and I have a slow machine (1.8mghz CPU and only 256K RAM). I have only been playing for three months and this is not normal for SL. Just have some patience and I am sure that the Lindens will have everything back to as close to normal as possible in due time.

I am hoping Mike Craven is right. Its so depressing seeing my friends on line and not having a way to communicate with them and tell them im having problems getting in. I hope all this stress is well worth it.

That means that your computer's internal clock is set wrong. It's probably off by a couple years. SL won't work unless it's set to the correct time, due to the design of the secure login system.

man i got on this morning lol. had stupid yahoo on so everytime someone came on/ off it would have that crap interrupt my game and then it would get all messed up lol and crash so id just keep logging in. then the last time, it reverted back to doing what its doing to eeryone else lol. dam

I am having this loading inventory problem as well, and I have a feeling it's as a result of the problems SL has had over the past day or so.

Trouble is, I sent the support team an e:mail, and apparently they are all away until Jan 2nd!

I think thats really bad, if they knew there were going to be problems they should at least pay people extra to offer support over new years as we are basically paying customers!

yea i just got second life yesterday, too lol. i didnt even get to finish making my guy today before the problem returned. lol


and from the sounds of it from people i know, this doesnt seem to happen often (because they were having fun laughing their asses off doing SOMETHING in sl that involved "spanking" eachother.... go figure) id wish they would fix the problem. i can understand it not working today , being that its new years eve and nobody should even be "home" long enough to be playing anything. but tomarrow this should be completely resolved, or im gonna be pretty pissed lmao

see the same thing happend yesterday s cus so many loggins and that is flooding the login sever it will fix its self once log in stops foolding wich is bad cus tons of people are trying to get in and wont stop and them more are gonna come so it wll be a while

man this sucks

One would think, however other people were reporting the same problem yesterday who were certain their clock was set correctly.

2 things we only need this forums cus it was here first and its has the most there are to many other forums out there saysing cant log in ok so use this forum and second i aint playing so watch a preparing invintory

you mean watch me prepare my inventory, get on a plane and go to california and demand they fix sl now?
