Crashes here too...three uninstalls/d/l/re-install...ummm are these updates not tested before they are released, or is the release the test?

I use an Nvidia card tho, latest drivers, bios firmwares, everything except SP2, and i think i'll hesitate for a few more months before i install that bug. |

I have crashed to desktop or completely frozen the client the last four times I tried to TP. definitely something wrong - just uninstalled/reinstalled and am trying again.

I unintsalled/reinstaled and am still having crashing problems also. Sometimes I make it to the hub when I TP but when I try to move I crash. Sometimes I don't even make it to the hub, just get stuck at the "arriving" screen. I have filed bug reports and sent an email to LL support. I'm sure between all the crash reports they must know there is a problem - I just wish they would acknowledge it. this is happening on both my Mac and PC clients so it seems to be widespread.
I don't have any virus protection running on the PC I use for SL since I do not use it for anything else, so I can rule out that as a cause. Hope someone figures it out and that LL fixes it or posts a solution somewhere. This is very frustrating. ![]() |

I agree...I would like to hear LL address this one as it is fundamental to how we all travel about SL.
I consistanly crash at the arrival screen. When I log back in, I seem fine until just now crashing for commiting the crime of walking. I had no issues until this update. All software was compatible until then. I run a Windows XP pro system so this is not mac alone. Reports have been filed, auto crash logs sent..... a nice.. "we are aware and working on this problem" would be nice about now. -Rose.. unable to get anywhere Portocarrero |

hmmm ....
on my 14th login for the evening. Now I just crash while standing still on an empty island doing absolutely nothing. Live Help did say that it was a widespread problem, so I hope that LL is aware of it. I hope we don't have to wait weeks for a new update to fix this update which was to fix the last update (hmmm ... did I confuse anyone else... lol) Well ... 14 is enough attempts for me. I'm off to be and hope they fix it before tomorrow evening when I try to enjoy my SL again. Nights all |

Crash, crash, crash, crash, crash here too. Sometimes if I'm in my home sim and pretty much go nowhere. Sometimes if I go to the other side of the world and start to chat. Sometimes when I cross sims and things start to rez in.
There isn't any real trigger to it or certain time frame. The first few times it was about 5 minutes after login before a crash. Last time it was more like 15. Oh, and I saw the text changing colors bug too. This update needs some serious fixing. |

At least I'm not alone

I didn't know if it was just me crashing since the patch.
I too have uninstalled and reinstalled SL twice, updated my drivers, which were all fine before this new patch. I've called SL offices twice to listen to the recording asking me to leave my name and number for a "call back" which never came. I've IM'd Lindens in game during the 1-2 mins I can stay in before crashing, and begged for a call back to help me. To no avail. I crash just standing, not even TP'ing or chatting. I have Win XP and NVIDIA. My virus software opjects to updating my drivers but I overide it and am able to update. I have Panda. Will try to disk clean and defrag but just did that last week. *Sighs* |

I woke up this morning and all seems fine now. I guess the "SL Fairy" paid me a visit and fixed it all. =))
Hope everyone's problems are a thing of the past today too. |

Ok, I understand being frustrated... believe me!!! But the attack on LL is just uncalled for. I mean c'mon, I don't know what real world you come from but life isn't perfect and neither are people.
I am going through some pretty crappy SL issues too. Starting with the upgrade last night, I was able to log in... sorta I had a solid black ground, no objects rezzed, not even my own Av. I couldn't move, only spin the camera in circles. Did not get a list of who was online, no one got my IM's. The map was the blue screen of death, and on and on...I uninstalled/re-installed... then I started crashing. When I didn't crash, I still had the same issues when I got in-world, with the exception that I could see a few trees now. Then after a couple minutes, I would get a message that I had been logged out. Through the forums, someone was kind enough to go to my location IW to see what was going on from their point of view. To them, I would show up for a minute or 2 as "Ruth", stumble around(while I was not moving on my end), then I logged off(while in fact on my end, I had not yet). We just need to be patient, and yes I know that is hard. It would make it a lil easier if we could get a Linden to respond here with some sort of status on the problem. But attacking them is not helping. _____________________

Using Powercolor 9200 SE that was running SL perfectly, no crashes, for the past month or so. Hell, it was working better then the 9800 Pro I use on my other machine!

Can we get a Linden to at least acknowledge this issue?
Please? _____________________

I had the same sort of experience as Stormy last night. I would log on in the middle of no where. No one could hear me, I couldn't move or see anything. I tried relogging over and over. The only thing that seemed to help was disabling my firewall. After that, SL worked fine for me - even after re-enabling the firewall. Go figure.
I, too, would like to see a Linden response to this, I know there were many many people having problems yesterday. _____________________

Heres my upgrade crash horror story
12-15-2004 11:35
Ok... so after getting home from work, all psyched to start coding scripts with 12 dialog box options, i discovered that i would crash to desktop whenever i TP'd, flew, walked, sneezed, blinked, or breathed. Needless to say I was a little miffed. Then i noticed that every crash reuslted in my loading screen to show the location of my last succesful logout, rather than the place i actually crashed at. So I got an (unbelivibly optimistic, and unlikely to work) idea. I logged in, waited for everything to rez (had to do it twice, crashed the first time) and actaully logged out before i crashed again. Then I logged back in, and to my surprise, no more crashes. I don't know if my effort resulted in this, or if LL just happend to fix it during this time... all i know is i spent the rest of my nite playing water polo and writting scripts, and NOT crashing... hope this helps someone else.

Got into 1.5.8. Moved forward. Crashed to Desktop. Got into 1.5.8. Hit fly. Crashed to Desktop. Got into 1.5.8. Tried to tp. Crashed to Desktop. Tping in fact crashes me to desktop every single solitary time. Fun. Add to that crossing sim borders. That crashes me too. Good job they had a preview grid to iron these little niggles out on ![]() While I do not crash to the desktop, I do Lag out every time I teleport and the only way to fix this is to re-boot SL. Sigh _____________________
