From: Zoe Hansup same here but for them its still early and they dont consider themselves global its 11pm Monday night where I am and both this and yesterdays efforts during my peak time online have put me two day behind in production.. This has gone beyond acceptable. I agree that not getting any word on this leaves a bad taste in ones mouth. Bad luck for the corprate types that may have had online meetings scheduled for today!! But I must say I would have been suprised if LL handled this any different, they are just doing what every other online game company does in this situation which is to say little and ignore the people, because that better than being open and honest!

From: Luve Schack Filling out support tickets would be a better use of your time. If you haven't done so, please do.
The Lindens do not follow threads in this forum. We all know that but frankly , I bet they must have atlease 10,000`s of support tickets just sitting there........No need to add another one to the top of the BS list. Frankly speaking we all know llabs DOESNT NOT care about the forums anymore. But where teh F```` is their posting on the blog? Thats suppose to be the communcation for us?

I just have a good chuckle and a bit of sarcasm in the forums to let off a little steam and try not to get worked up about it. Also the comment about online companies....you gotta admit lindens have set new standards. they are improving...at least they acknowledge there is an issue these days which is something. Used to be a big fat silence and you spent checking your connection etc. Id like to see em donate something decent to the RFL campaign that held one of the best events i ever seen, this weekend as payment for crap service. Its people like the RFL crew who make me want to come back and make this community the special place it is. anyways they will be arriving now and someone will unplug the cleaners vacuum cleaner and power the gateway server back up

I love this...NOT. I spend thousands of dollars a month on this game. They are making a fortune. EVERYTHING is not working except my camera. I am afraid to rezz objects, because a friend of mine lost 4,000L in inventory this weekend just because he rezzed his objects in his home.
After all of this ------SL will still expect their monthly payment on time, regardless of what you lost in production, inventory, or time this weekend. This is beyond rediculous, and my patience is gone.

This is totally out of control! we're on 3 days now of SL not working! No Linden balances, no TP's, no Map, no search!! And the fact that they don't report on the blog what is going on is terrible customer service. I'm really getting pissed off!! I read an article in wired magazine about SL this month and how it's starting to go down the tubes... I guess this is the beginning of it for sure!! Get out while you can!!

I have been so patient with this platform, but this is beyond patiance.. My sales have been L$0 all weekend because of this.. I can live with that though, but when I log in, have no balance, can't tp anywhere, search is borked, and loose a L$459 pair of boots, something has to be done.. The rolling restart on a Friday was my first clue that things would be fooked this weekend, however I never expected it to be this bad...
*counts to 10* *takes deep breaths*

First post on these forums from me.
But got to add my pennyworth..... I am totally disgusted at the lack of communication from Linden regarding this latest problem.
Some of the most BASIC functionailty of SL is fubar'ed... and hardly a thing from Linden in their blog.
AMAZED !!!
EDIT: Im guessing that there is no way on this planet that Linden actually read this stuff?? If so, pity they dont leave comments open on the associated blog. YES...they will get some earache... but they deserve to see both negative and positive..... and there is very little positive to speak about.

Good article. Personally, I have no idea how anyone can spend regular money on this. Sure, I bought some Lindens but I surely will never buy a Premium account and people buying whole islands have to be insane on the brain. Buy what? Buy into a service that is often at least partially out of service with as far as I can tell no reimbursement to people who pay monthly for it so I can own what I make but in the terms of service you see that the storage of what you make that you will pay for is completely uninsured. Items you lose are 'too bad so sad'. You're just out of luck. The money supposedly has real value and they even go so far as to operate what they call a monetary exchange. They advertise that you own your virtual items and the economy aspects of SL, but turn around and abrogate all responsibility for the safeguarding of the items that you buy with that money. You have to already see something wrong with the picture here solely based on that aspect.

Lets add the fact that all gambling has been removed or is being removed... although I'm not a SL gambler the fact that its' on the outs will only hurt the economy but also create a plethora of available land... just watch!

BUT Pushy it was not always like this. Just since after 6/6/2006 the crap started. We use t get ok support. But now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NCS = NO Costumer Service is whats its now. Oh yes File a support ticket................ And have it sit on the 10,000 other Suport tickets that people have files over the past 2+ days......... SAD SAD SAD..........Bleeding edge tech is what some call second life. well that is true. BUT it does mean you have to made us "BLEED" because the tech your trying to make work but can`t. Because you don`t have the staff to do it! BLEED EDGE TECH SL is? well Its killing us and we are bleeding because the support of a platform that is unstable and totally disoranized with the staff that runs it!!!!!!!!!!! Needs to let off steam as you say.......

The Lindens do not follow threads in this forum. I don't think they pay much attention to those, either :/ at least here I have had the opportunity to get some actual support - I seem to get better support from other residents these days, and that's bad.

From: Kian Boucher Very correct Pushy! Lets add the fact that all gambling has been removed or is being removed... although I'm not a SL gambler the fact that its' on the outs will only hurt the economy but also create a plethora of available land... just watch! I'm not a great fan of gambling in SL or RL. Then again I'm also not a great fan of Gorean. But different strokes for different folks. LL does seem to be on a binge of trying to avoid lawsuits lately by using premptive measures. Maybe thats one of the hidden reasons for the move overseas of their billing. I can't say I'll miss the gambling, but there are only so many business models that offer users things to do in SL to keep them there. I don't doubt that the removal of one of them will have at least an initial negative impact on things. What really grinds my gears (is that what Peter Griffin's talk show was called?) is the loss in 'business' for some of the great and talented designers I've met in SL. The best ones I've met all have one thing in common, they truly love the appreciation of their customers. Those people get hurt when stuff like this happens, yes. But I have a feeling they get more hurt by the atmosphere created by the bugs that cause inventory loss which has some people stating loss to try to get free items. I literally had the issue just this past weekend where a box of shoes I bought, if I placed them on the ground to open them at he store (this is cutting edge technology? why cant I just open the item in my inventory?) I would get an error that placing the item there was not allowed. If I then went elsewhere to try to place that same object on the ground to open it, I would get a 'failure to rez item' error. Log out then back in, and its gone. No trace. Not at the store and not at my home and not in my inventory. For my 'trouble' he gave me a free pair of shoes while I went back and forth with him testing the problem with over and over. But I felt more bad for him than I did for losing 280L. Then you have people who lose things that are nearly irreplacable. Things like Huds and AOs containing numeros purchased, collected, sifted through and tailored animations. Gone in 60 seconds. What to do then? What vendor can you go to in order to get that back? How can someone who can't fix items misattaching to your crotch ever manage to come up with a way to safeguard the items and transactions which is what is really needed to operate a business model?

Been a while since I posted but this just has to be said. * L$ Balance shows "Loading..." again * All groups show 0 members and can't be edited * My friends list shows " waiting)" on half the names * On our sim all parcels show "0" traffic (thanks) * Search is totally wiped * SLURLS dont work * Map don't work Edit: * Can't rez * Can't return items Edit2: * Scripted attachment (menus) don't work. * HUD buttons of attachments dont work. ------------------------------- This is kinda NOT what I'm looking for on 300US $ a month for a sim + the other costs like classifieds, parcel listing fees etc. I think for now we just put the 2nd. sim we wanted to get in August on a hold and don't order it. Thanks LL for your continued support.

Petition anyone?
07-30-2007 08:54
Until they pull their finger out and make the system more robust we're going to have these issues on a regular basis. It's never going to end.
There's so much they can do but they dont seem to do anything. They allow anybody to sign up and wreck havoc with sims and the grid without any accountability. They allow people to bring a sim to a crawl with no way for region managers to detect or deal with it - how about a debug option in the Region management dialog that lists how much lag each avatar is creating, along with a script function to read these values so tools can be made to automatically warn/eject these avatars - same as we can with a sim's Time Dilation. How about doing away with campers or at the very least adjust the algorithm for the Traffic ratings so avatars only contribute to the score on a sliding scale until eventually they arent counted. How about levels of script priority, so scripted objects on an owner's land take priority over visitor's objects/HUDs for example - eg have a customizable percentage cap for resources allocatable to visitors.
I just dont see them doing ANYTHING to take the stress off the servers or make them more responsive or resilient against misuse. They made the system wide open before it was even close to being ready.
Maybe someone should start a petition and rally up some media attention. Management need a wakeup call. Or at the very least it might spark a competitor to Second Life which is fundamentally better engineered. Only got so much patience left.

I feel like a lucky angel must have spoken to me to sell my other store location while it was possible to actually get money for it Sales always hit the dumpster when SL has infrastructure issues. I am so glad I cut back what I pay for land, and just kept what I consider my "funzone" area no matter what happens to "biz" in SL. But if this crap keeps going on, there will be less folks in the long term and its bad for everyone, even if all you want to do in SL is have fun with friends, build, etc. So now I will go back to my next gen character modelling/rigging project (because my external 3d modelling programs work!) and forget about SL for a while... since it's obviously not working and seems like, not for a while...
