As usual, I'm sure they're doing everything they can. There are thousands of islands now, which means nearly a thousand servers. Think about that number. One thousand. But it's probably more at this point, since there are now server housing facilities both in San Francisco and Houston. What if, for example, every single one of these servers required a manual restart? How long would that take? What if somebody made a self-replicating bomb that took out server after server, domino fashion? It's happened before, and it could be happening now. We don't know for sure (of course, that's part of the problem - it'd be nice to get something more informative than "we're working on it" . How long would that take to figure out, find, and fix? So, go wash your cars, feed your dogs, play with your kids, mow your lawns, party with RL friends or write that term paper. SL will be there when you get done.

From: Hawkeye Houston you own a car? You pay monthly notes on it? Has it ever had to go to the shop for repairs? Did you whine to the mechanic about how unfair it was you pay a monthly note and couldnt drive your car while he had it in repair?
Be patient, there are asset/database issues, let them fix it. You unfairness ranting wont repair the databse any quicker. Bad analogy, they can give a hire car, which can be used to get to all the destinations we want to whilst our normal car is in for repair. SL doesn't have this. I've been logged in a while now. HOT TIP!! It's the mainland thats screwed guys. Actually I'm in two minds about whether to post this as it could cause issues of its own. But login to a private island, do NOT login to mainland regions, thats where you'll find your AV missing and half your inventory gone. I logged directly into private island sim and everythings running fine for me now, AV rezzed straight away, inventory completely back. So it must be an asset server issue related to the mainland sims. Been logged in over an hour now on a private sim, running just fine

[UPDATE 2:43 PST] Still no joy in Networkville. Try not to do any heavy inventory lifting until we get this sorted. Thanks! — Daniel
Still no joy in dumbshitville. Try not to do any heavy lifting cause lindens might break a finger nail until they get it sorted.
Hmmmm How many hours now Nosha lol ?

Be patient, there are asset/database issues, let them fix it. You unfairness ranting wont repair the databse any quicker. I own a car, and then the company who sold it to me says "Ok now, anyone can drive your car, and we don't even check that they have a licence. And if your car breaks down because it has 10 times the number of drivers that you expected, it's your hard luck."

SOOO funny. I agree, do a rolling restart and keep people out while you fix this crap. It might not repair it faster but what else are we gonna do while we wait??! If you dont like the complaining than dont read the threads..duh.

It appears that they are working on the problem. In Hanguel now, and the packet loss is much less now.

Seems to me they tried the grid shutdown/rolling restart at the end of sunday, hoping that would fix it, but it hasn't. So this must be something fundamentally screwed, and perhaps they need to keep people on the grid to track the behaviour with a high load (ie grid shutdown will yield no results in finding the source of the problem)
Ah well, i'm happy just flying around private sim for now with everything fine (not gonna say which one, dont want it to get overloaded. lol)

You people crack me up... ROFL!!!!! gives me something to read and laugh about while the fucking game is offline.. but yea.. how hard can it be? i mean seriously????? it seems like its the same problem over and over again.. you would think.. if people in general have enough sense... wouldnt you... just go and get a new database? LOL i mean WTF?... unless its a different problem this time.. who knows... but.. its all Computer shit.. cant be to hard to fix. "RESET BUTTON" "ROLL BACK" or.. plan B.. just trash everything.. and close SL.. for good. seems to be stressing everyone.. and just to many problems...

LMAO Crizzy and that makes sense Arksun! Yea i have no idea, but their database(s) must be huge! Im sure its some code or other, a bug that is having an issue. Could take quite a bit of time to fix things.

Not Ok

My Lady and I are premiums since two weeks or so. Black monday in Europe. All L$ are gone. Most of the inventory items are gone. One lucky log in shows us ghost-avies, no TP, then crash. Since that happened we see 9 hours of no log in. Yes, we've reading the new "TOS". But: our L$ must come back, our inventory items must come back and a real fast and serious service for people who have lost L$ and items must come up. Because we're not in the mood for paying time and hard earned money into a black hole. The people who call themselfs "the Lindens" should think about two words and meanings: respect and responsibility! Thay have to take full responsibility for the damage and have to serve their customers.

Based on my experience with this junk, your lindens and objects will return. That said, they're REALLY halfarsing it this time around. They NEED to shut down the grid and FIX the problems, as opposed to trying to repair your car without taking it into the garage.
I'm currently shown as being logged in, even though I'm not. As is my roommate. Sheesh!

Did you whine to the mechanic about how unfair it was you pay a monthly note and couldnt drive your car while he had it in repair? Not anywhere near valid. You don't pay a note on a car to keep it maintained and functional. If your car breaks down and cant be used because you were incapable of maintaining it, then you have no one to complain to but yourself. A more valid commparison would be if your car ended up in the shop but you pay someone to maintain it in an operational state for your use. In that case you sure can complain to that person because your car is now unusable while you continue to have to pay them.
