Orange Split-Second Flashes

Since 1.10, every time the sun or moon moves in the sky I get a split-second orange full-screen flash, is anybody else seeing this? It's happening on both my desktop and laptop (both have nVidia 7800's, both have up to date drivers).

It's easy enough for me to get around by fixing the sun position to either noon or midnight, but I'm just curious if anybody else has experienced this.

Never noticed it before 1.10 so I'm wondering if it's something to do with the new lighting maybe?

Hot damn. How's that for synchronicity--I was just gonna make a post.

I've been having this exact same thing, Moopf. My graphics card is a 7800GT. And up-to-date drivers too.

I've been trying to take pictures but I'm wondering if video'ing it at this point may be more effective because it happens so quickly to get a good repro.

I saw the same behavior in the preview grid when 1.10 was being tested and see it now in 1.10 on the main grid, too. GeForce FX5700 Ultra on cedega/WINE, latest NVidia drivers.

Haha, glad it's not just me. I meant to post about this days ago, but forgot until just now :) Video'ing might capture it though.

I'm just happy I'm not the only one seeing subliminal orange flashes that make me want a cup of tea (don't ask why, but they do).

I have a 6800GT, and I have previously mentioned this, although I didn't realise it was connected with the position of the sun and moon.

Strangely enough, over the last few days I have been feeling an overwhelming desire to send money to the Lindens - I don't know where it comes from.

It took me a while to figure it out but by accident I noticed that the flash happened as the sun changed position and after fixating on that for a while, realised that was causing it. Try fixing your sun position - that worked a treat for me.

It's not limited to nVidia chips either, I've been getting these on my x880 card as well.

I've got this same issue during sunrise/sunset periods. I'm on a AGP ATI Radeon X800.

Well I got that wrong then... you were supposed to want to give your money to me...

6800GT and it happens for me too. It actually happened before 1.10 I think, but I don't think it was as noticeable.

Agreed, I've seen it on my 6600GT since sometime around the start of March, (1.8.4) - it started happening just after I upgraded to the latest nvidia drivers though, so I assumed it was just a driver glitch and lived with it.

It is definitely more noticable with 1.10 than its been in the past though.

Just to update this thread - it's still happening in the latest update. Wasn't expecting it to be fixed on purpose, but you never know with SL updates :)

Well, I'm guessing, this update is making it happen for more people. I know it wasn't happening for me before 1.10.

Plus, looking at your post, it doesn't really describe what I've been seeing. It's not about objects or terrain pulsing, as you say on that post, it's basically a full screen orange flicker.

Same thing; the world's sun light source flickers EVERYTHING orangish (since that's the light color at the time) during sunrise/sunset about 30 minutes prior. I'm guessing most people just didn't pay attention to it that closely before 1.10 but it's been in SL for as long as I've been here...

And I'm telling you 100% categorically that it never happened to me before 1.10. Your mileage, of course, may vary.

It most likely did but you were just never aware of it...it's very subtle (especially with low framerates) and doesn't last very long.

That isn't the effect I am getting. In my case it started with the 1.10 release, and it consists of fairly infrequent flashes, which light up the surroundings (as someone said, like lightning). There are no odd lighting effects or pulsating. It definitely wasn't happening to me before 1.10.
