I lost items yesterday.

The land was almost full so it might have gone over the prim limit.

Just to summarize:
11-20-2006 03:49
Two sims. Items repeatedly and mysteriously returned

1. Spooky Car - Spook House Ride / Haunted House at Noyo 75.974, 156.362

2. Piano, Banjo Store - Baby Grand Pianos, Banjos' at Mauve 167.467, 204.962

because the parcel is full. Or somehow FILLS after the objects are placed.

Why? In the name of the Linden God, 'Why?'

Given the fact that it appears to to be the same 2 objects being returned repeatedly, what have you learned about them? Do you possibly have them set to an incorrect group permission while you have auto-return active on your lot? Is it possible you have these objects across a property line and they are being returned by a neighbor?

Thanks Sterling and Danni for your comments.
Danni, to answer your questions, I do not have auto-return turned on. The objects are well within my land boundaries.

When these things get returned, do you rush right out and put them back?

Hello Sterling,
Yes, I do... as soon as I get the email telling me they have been returned I put them back. Some of them are an integral part of my Spook House Ride and it wont work without them.

Well I dont' get it. I had a theory, but it didn't work out.
I have another idea I'll try next time I'm in game.
=============
I did notice that NOYO has a problem...there are too many prims, I think.
At the Spooky House Ride in Noyo, here's what I see in the ABOUT LAND / OBJECTS dialogue:

"Simulator Primitive Usage 269 out of 274 (5 available)
Primitives parcel supports 179
Primitives on parcel 269
owned by parcel owner 0
set to group 260
owned by others 9

..autoreturn is OFF (set to 0),
and BUILD is off."

The PARCEL is over its limit by quite a lot. So whoever is in the SIM can use their prim alotment, and the Simulator will (presumably) kick out stuff from Parcels in the same SIM that are over their alotment.
===============
That was NOT the case with Natoma, though...Natoma has plenty of Prim room.

Sterling, thanks for caring and offering up lots of ideas. I own two plots of land in the Noyo Sim. Between those two plots I have 274 prims available for my use. I only use 269. So, no matter who else builds in the sim, my prims/objects should not be returned.

Here's a thought that just occurred to me. I had something returned to me once when a friend came onto our property with her puppy following her. On our property we are using more prims than the parcel supports. We bought other parcels elsewhere to use the prims for our home and yard/garden.

Could it be that tthe routines that check your prim counts are seeing that you're using more prims than are supposed to be on THAT SPECIFIC SIZE PARCEL, not including any prims you may have gotten from elsewhere, and just automatically assuming that you're using too many prims and therefore your items must be returned?

Maybe they've coded it to keep us from "abusing" the system, in their eyes, by using prims on parcels where they didn't intend for us to use them. I wouldn't be at all surprised; after all, if they have a limit to the number of prims you can use, there must be a valid reason?

Yngwie, that was my original thought, also. And I still think it might be valid.
It would only explain the spooky car from Noyo, however.
I'm stumped on Natoma.

Can it be:
1. A neighboring parcel is rezzing something onto your land, Sinatra? there are several threads going right now in LINDEN ANSWERS about Temp on Rez from adjacent parcels screwing up the neighbors.
2. Is it possible that a huge head of tortured and twisted Prim Hair is riding the car and screwing up? My few locks didn't trigger this, (I tried :)), but then I'm not that hairy.
3. What about someone with god awful prim hair, and scripted feather wings, and (add a bunch of other stuff), who sits in the car. Takes off on a ride. But has HUGE lag:
a. Is the car a 'vehicle'? Could the added stuff such a laden Avi be carrrying cause a violation of the prim count for a 'vehicle'?
b. What happens if the car stalls halfway through? Does the ride RESET? , causing a new car to rez at the beginning? and if so, what happens to the old car?

returned Objects from Group land
12-06-2006 01:20
The parcel is obviously set to group owned.

This means: Every Object rezzed there and group is not set will be the same.

At least: I would not count 5 prims "plenty of prims available". and I suspect a car not having less than 6 prims. So if you rezz the car somewhere else, use it and leave it on you land, it will be returned if not set to group (that land owns), else the other 9 prims not set to group will be returned.

Before you haven't looked into the group issue I would count posting every object returned message her as spamming forums.
