I just saw this post, and the files today. I definatly have to join in with the others and Thank you and Jennifer for reposting these files, and thanks to Jinny for making them! So many questions answered in one download, a feeling of Zen washes over me just looking at the tutorial/template!

Just go to Winter's links (Post #70) and download them from her site. Then you can upload them to yours.

I sell some expensive outfits, but i try to have some pieces cheaper.
You know, we spend time on photoshop... and at least rent a shop cost money! I really dont make BIG benefits. Uploading texture have a cost, and at start i upload a lot of them. Rent have a cost. So we cant give for free our work! I try to design in a different way, i dont want to sell basic shirt for 20 l, you can find enough basic shirt in SL. So my creations are expensive, and i hope that my customers are happy. Because it looks different and because not a lot of people wearing the same outfit. ![]() |

The files are still online.

Thanks to the dilligence of Jennifer M, and my own dogged relentlessness, we now have copies of the files that Jinny was distributing, available for download.
These files are zip archives, that contain layered PSD (Photoshop) files. You will need an unzipping utility (I use "WinRar" ![]() Don't expect these to be "instant skins".. they're hardly ready for primetime. But in terms of layout and such, they seem extremely helpful. These are mostly for clothing design, but you could use these templates to help you make your own skin from scratch. As per Jinny's original request: Clothes made using these templates cannot be sold for more than $50. Skin samples are not for resale or redistribution in any form, AT ALL, however you are more than welcome to upload modified versions of the skin, so you can see how it looks on. The secondary "Bikini Help" file has the additional stipulation that it not be used for any commercial products.. but you can use what you learn. (not sure how helpful those files will actually be, but I'm sharing what I got) The files: I should say, also.. there is a set of high quaility, colour layered, layout grids available.. here http://www.slboutique.com/chipmidnight/ and when used in conjunction with the templates above, and when the matching grids are worn on your avatar in world, it can be a super help when it comes to lining up nipples and soforth. The templates above are really best for making clothes, not so much help for making skins. I happen to have Chip's templates already set up as a skin... I'm not entirely certain where I got them, but I'll gladly hook anyone up with a copy of the skin, in world.. just IM me. The combination of the template skin, and the photoshop grids.. and Jinny's templates.. and you're quickly on your way to becoming a master clothesmaker (14 years of photoshop experience, graphic design degree, and fashion sense.. not included) |

Thanks you guys, for keeping this information circulating. Being relatively new to SL, I am trying to learn as much as I can. In just the couple of months I have been in SL, I am finding it increasingly difficult to find help on how to create things for the game. People don't want to share their secrets- maybe they're afraid of a little competition? I dunno. ANYWAY...Threads like this are a great resource for newcomers like me...now if only I could find one on how to sculpt hair...

What does that word mean!

After reading this thread, I do believe something happened to Jinny after she took down the items. At least the spirit of what she did lives on. But Winter, you sure you can't distill some of that fashion sense for download. Watching 3 seasons of project Runway doesn't translate into a clothing guru.
Thanks for the effort and helping the newbies. _____________________

Twlya, the downloads are in the post above mine. In Winter ventura's post she allows us to download Jinny's files. What I said didn't make sense. I was trying to compliment Winter and I mistyped it. Oh well.

In typical Jinny stylee I deleted the files a few days ago-- I didn't realise there had been a link made to them in the "sticky" post. One reason I deleted them was-- they were crap. I'm currently working on a "proper" tutorial which would include template files and screen shots. If you can bear with me for a couple of weeks it should be all sorted then. ![]() Apologies to anyone who has tried to download them lately! I've had a lot of interest in these lately. As you may have noticed, my name is not Jinny. I rebranded myself a goodly while ago for fashion/design purposes (and also for whoring purposes, but that's another name, heheh). I never did finish the tutorial. My PC died and the computer and I'm having to use has only recently been any good for playing SL and it's not in my house (it's in the basment of the shop I live above). This combined with pressures in RL has reduced my PC time to not very much in comparison to how it was. I've been focusing on my build in Baker (Baker Street) and new stuff for my shop when I do get SL time, and hopefully after Xmas when I get my new PC I'll be able to start using the build for hosting events, Thinkers' group stuff and all the other stuff I was scuppered in by the death of my PC. I've improved my skills myself since I made these files. Thanks to the people who are hosting them now, but I really should make the stipulation again that I took them down because they were crap and frankly I find them somewhat of an embarrassment. The stuff in there is ancient. So I'm glad people are getting some use from them, but please, don't expect to download my files, peruse them and come out the other end as the next Chip Midnight. ![]() I am still planning on making tutorials after Xmas when I get my new PC. If people have suggestions for stuff they have found tricky to do that a tutorial would have helped them with do IM me. I can do tutorials for PSP and PS. To finish on a cheap plug: There's free mall space available in my shopping centre at Baker Street for people who can't afford to invest in mall space and are just starting out as designers or creators. IM me if you're interested in that. |

Eazel, please read the post directly above yours. It explains why the link is dead, and what is (possibly) going to happen about it.

404 Error
07-27-2007 15:57
I've tried to DL these files but unfortunately I'm getting a: 404 Error: File not Found, message. I've also tried to go to Squinny.net to see if there might be a problem with the hyperlink provided but while I see a weird swirly logo for the main site and three clickable buttons (forums / webmail / contact) clicking on any of these doesn't seem to take me to where I might find these files your talking about.
Not sure if anyone else has had this problem recently but I just thought I would write in and find out. |

Folks you need to look at the dates. This is a necropost. The links are and quite possibly will stay dead because the orginal poster is gone. The items referenced in the post are gone. And honestly, if you see a post over a year old offering anyting take it with a grain of salt.
Even My post here is at least six months old. Yes, I downloaded the templates. I have never found a use for them. *sigh* So please, read your dates. _____________________

It seems Jinny is no longer active in SL. Does anyone have the set of files available AND can we assume they are shareable since she once made them publicly available?

Since the person who once played Jinny came back as Jezebel Yaffle and said here that she no longer likes the files, I'm going to assume that she doesn't want them posted. (See the post five or six up from yours, dated nearly three years ago.)
Let it go. Ummm... you also might want to check the dates on things before you post. Anything that's more than a year old (and this was more than two, before your post) is considered a "necropost" and very, very out of date. SL changes quickly. Leave the dead posts to moulder. _____________________
