Just to add. Even clothes in RL are modified copies or ideas of most others that are out there.

And Latex Catsuits i believe have been around long before SL. :D

OMG Great idea!!! I wonder if we can get Tiger Crossing to build that! :P

Choice of weapons.... Watermelon gun, 180 prim ball and chain, or.... or..... giant multicolored particle stream that follows you around everywhere and spouts nonsensical gibberish?

Oh, I know. Mine is way better! (just kidding!). My point was that if someone is going to use the argument that it's wrong to make a product that someone else has already made then I feel it necessary to point out that latex catsuits have been around in SL for a very long time.

One other point to consider... light behaves on latex in a very specific manner. If both artists did a reasonably good job of approximating that, then it stands to reason the results will be similar.

One is purple and has a white stripe down each side.
The lighting/shadows created by whatever program they used are DIFFERENT.

In real life catsuits made by different people look similar.

Catsuits are a cool idea. I think I will make one when I figure out photoshop. But mine will be bright pink. Going to accuse me too?

People can make similar items without 'ripping' off another person's idea. I have a copy of Chip's brownish catsuit too - but it doesn't mean I think Kyrah ripped Chip off.

Personally, I avoid people's shops who can't handle competition.

For starters you are totally not getting what I am saying. I am not saying that one is an exact copy of the other, BUT the stylistic similarities in technicque are what make them look similar. What I was saying was that if I saw two people in the same place wearing both catsuits, and if I did not know who created either of them, I would probably think since stylistically they are similar that they were done by the same person. That is all i am saying. I see the little differences that you so graciously pointed out twice to me and yes those do make them technically different as well as the secondary packaging shots.

Chips catsuit is great, but it doesnt look anything like the other two stylistically speaking. And I don't think either of the catsuits are ripping off Chips.

For the record, this has nothing to do with not being able to handle the competition.

Two people wear blue t-shirts they made with the SL appearance tab. Can I complain that they copied my idea? They look the same.

They are "technically" different. That means they are not the same item. I build a giant 10x10x10 blue cube. You do the same but a tad lighter blue that you wouldn't notice until they are next to each other. Does that mean you ripped me off? No, it doesn't.

I was being sarcastic about ripping off Chips catsuit. But he did make it before Kyrah's. Does that mean she copied his? Its the same argument you and Kyrah are using. They are both catsuits but one is a different color.

It is about the competition and the imagined lost lindens. Why complain otherwise?

Artillo, maxing out the "LEG LENGTH" slider on an avatar doen't even come CLOSE to representing the majesty of Tina's legs. I may have to do this with prims. :D

Camille you are a saint. You should IM me sometime in game. :D But for the most part I think the emotional side of this thread is largely disarmed. Some say the suits are similar, some say they aren't. Seems most people who think the suits are similar do NOT believe Mistress ripped anybody off. Mistress extended a hand in friendship to Kyrah. Kyrah made a passionate vow to build a better catsuit which can only be better for everybody in SL. Not the worst piece of drama I have seen.

What is your point then? No one is stopping themselves from buying either catsuit...

I'd try and explain myself again, but its a moot point since its getting lost in translation.

when it comes down to it -- its all just opinions -- i accept the opinion stated that they are different and i've tried to explain my opinion on how i see that they are similar stylistically (which I think is being interpreted as me saying it was ripped off, which is NOT what i was saying, cause if i was gonna say that I would just say it and not dance around the accusation in semantics) ...but I digress....

My statements are about this particular case in point -- not about blue jeans -- not about blue cubes -- not about the fact that someone once told me my avatar looked exactly like Aimee Weber :D

So what kind of eyeliner do you like best?

It was a few weeks ago and hell if I remember. I think it was Launa's head poofs....despite the fact that those head poofs are in the back and yours are on the side and I don't have blue lipstick...hehe

It reminded me of the fact that for about 10 years in RL of how people would come up to me and say " Wow you look exactly like Molly Ringwald" and never once have I looked in the mirror and said "you know what I do look like molly ringwald". Who knows what people see sometimes?

yes the fact of the matter here is *I* was the first (as far as Im aware)
to make clothes out of rendered images in poser...
[EDIT: actually this honor goes to Chip for doing it first, I hadn't known this until just after I posted this.. sorry chip your royalty check is in the mail :P]

just because someone uses the same technique as you or makes a similar product does not give you universal rights to said product. Ive seen mroe then a dozen camoflauge outfits, a lot of t-shirts with the same logos and a lot of really similarly constructed glasses...

this stuff happens because a cool idea is a cool idea, the lesson of the day is, get over yourself and keep creating new things.

I responded originally because you said they looked like they were done by the same person. I was disagreeing with that statement and most of the rest of your statements after that.

You are entitled to your opinion and so am I. While I stated why I said what I said and tried to explain in about 3 separate posts- it is my opinion nothing more nothing less. You are free to disagree with it all you want.

I guess since Kyrah IS accusing Mistress of stealing, the tension can cause folks to become over sensitive. Saying "they look similar" feels like "mistress INDEED stole it" LOL!

Sorry to rope you into the drama Sensual. We just want to roll out all the facts before the besmirching begins on Mistress. :D

hmm just a lil precision, i havent worke"d in poser but in 3ds, and used surface baking tools

Two people decided to make catsuits.
One was done in Poser, one was done in 3ds. The shadows, the colors, the stylings are different, so yes, technicallly they are different. If they were technically the same, they'd be exact matches and they aren't.

People could accuse you of ripping off Chip's idea or the first person (whoever that may be) to create catsuits in SL. But they aren't.

I may just start a line of my own catsuits in various colors. Going to accuse me of copying you too?

I think the moral of the story is, don't attack people without cause.

--or quite possibly, the moral could be
chip's done everything already, we should be paying him royalties
