Just received a message from a friend that said me someone called [name deleted] started to produce the same latex catsuit that i usually did
I guess many ppl know this product was originally from KDC
and now someone use same technic to sell same item for a bargain price :/
Sometimes i wonder why im banging my head to find new ideas if ppl will just ripp my ideas and break my business
Well i havent internet anymore at the moment so i cannot defend my brand name but as soon as im back on i will show you what skill is
Something you will never be able to rippoff

It would have been better for you to have come on here and posted an ad for your catsuit, calling it the original, etc...
Instead, you came on here and advertised where everyone can go buy one for less than you charge.
I feel your pain, but rather than apply a bandage you shot yourself in the foot.

And your post is Liable.
If you feel someone STOLE your design, thats one thing, and Abuse reports exist for that, as Lindens have locked threads about this sort of thing before. They do act on intellectual property theft.
But it sounds like all MM did was reinvent the wheel, which is perfectly legit, to reverse engineer something is a standard marketing concept, which is why you should always seeks to establish a quality product at a reasonable price and continue to improve it if possible.
If I was MM though, i would probably be filing an abuse report myself since instead of talking it out in game with me, you came here and used a slanderous post subject line.
Play nice. And keep your dirty laundry to official channels per the Community Standards.

If you believe that a creation of yours has been copied without your permission, please file an abuse report. If you want to pursue a copyright challenge, please follow the rules outlined by the DMCA. The forums are for discussion and education about Second Life. Individual problems should be addressed through the abuse system. Thanks.

i will just do what i have done since im here, giving ythe best i can do and dig copiers in theyr own hole
When i will be back (i hope i get back an ISP soon), im gonna redo my catsuits, better and more detailed, in a way i bet she will never be able to ^_^
of course, buyers of the first version will get a very big discount on the new one.
I strongly disagree about the DMCA so i will just be better
thats the only way to prevent ppl to stole your ideas and technics
It really piss me that someone that has already a so big brand name in SL need to rip me off

Again, stop accusing her without proof. That is Liable, and Lindens have said before not to bring this to the forums.
Either file abuse report, or drop it.
For all you know, she had that design planned for a while and finally got around to it.

I've been selling a latex catsuit since beta. If you feel your actual textures have been stolen that's one thing. If you're just upset that someone else is doing a similar product to yours, well, get used to it. As far as I'm aware I was the first person to start making and selling full body skins. Now there are a dozen or more people doing it. I think it's a good thing. It makes it so we can't rest on our laurels and have to compete on quality rather than novelty. I don't mean to sound unsympathetic because I empathize with how you feel, but it's unrealistic (and a bit selfish) to think that any good idea won't be replicated.

Alas this is RL info not available in his profile, but he has admitted to this before. If anyone should be burned at the stake its Chip And Sam Walton! Briana Dawson

Damn, I was late with the hush money check again wasn't I! To Kyrah, again, sorry if I sounded harsh at all. I didn't intend it that way. I'm just trying to say that any novel item that gets at all popular will have dozens of imitators, and often they may have developed it without knowledge someone already had a similar thing. It's just the nature of the beast Keep cranking out cool stuff and you will have a loyal following. Also, don't ever hesitate to talk to other designers if you feel your toes are being stepped on. One of the things I love about the clothing biz in SL is it's very non adversarial. We all just kinda cheer each other on.

To my knowlege, Idea theft is in fact legal. No matter what you do in SL, somebody is going to like a design you have done and try to create thier own. You should always think positive and think of it as a compliment. The only time you should get worried is if they are using and part or whole part of your texture. That would probably be something you would abuse report on. If they jsut copied ur design, then u cant abuse report them. You jsut have to make sure your's is better out of the two. If you are confident in yourself, then it wont be a problem.
I personally havent seen any designs you have made, but am confident to say that you probably have a well respected buisness going on and somebody is trying to make things exactly like yours.
I had a similar case with someone i dont want to name. When i started creating all these new things, i notice he had as well, trying to follow my footsteps and compete with me all the time. It got to the point where i was upset, yes, but i went over, look at what the competition was, and then just let it blow over. As long as you like making clothing for the fun of it, then thats all that matters. Just have fun! If that person keeps copying your designs, jsut talk to whoever copied your design. Tell him/her how u feel. Posting it on the boards wasnt a good i dea though. Always consult the person that you are feeling uncomfortable rather than letting the whole SL community read about it before the person themself can know about whats going on and how you are feeling.
This is just my opinion, so dont take any offense to anything i have said.

I do know that Mistress Midnight rendered her catsuit in Poser. She did NOT use Kyrah's texture. So the issue here is if other people can make catsuits. I think Chip addressed that issue the best when it comes to his realistic skins.

I attached a side by side photo of the catsuits. The one on the left is Kyrah's, the one of the right is MM's. (Both designers include different colors and Mistress includes different cuts, but I specifically selected these two because they are the ones that look the most like each other). There is no doubt about it, they are both catsuits and they are both shiny.
But mis's includes highlighted colors, a racing stripe down the side, and different cut of boots. Mistress's version also features a bikini, halter, boyshorts, and lowrise version (all in the same package!). Out of that package, only the full bodysuit version resembles Kyrah's work.
To be honest, I have seen blue jeans by different designers that bare more similarities to each other than these two catsuits. But there doesn't appear to be as much issue over reinventing blue jeans.

This is the package that includes the full body catsuit in question. You can see why i didn't do a side by side comparison on the other cuts since they didn't look ANYTHING like Kyrah's work other than simply being "shiny".

I bought the one by Mistress Midnight! I love the purple in it. I have purchased several different catsuits - latexy looking ones, and I have to admit I like hers the best.

I have nothing about ppl that are inspired, but do not clone, do better dammn Since Kyrah is a vendor in my store in Indigo I am aware of her merchandise and her latex cat suit has been up for maybe 2 months now (maybe longer since I don't know if it was done before she was a vendor at my store). I remember the first time I saw someone wearing it - because I had never seen a latex cat suit done like that before so it stuck in my mind. I've seen "latex" "vinyl" cat suits before in SL, but never like Kyrahs which I found out was because she used Poser to create it. Thats pretty much all I have to say about that. ** Note that however doesn't mean that they do not exist as I dont think I have seen every single article of clothing in SL yet**

And they both look like the catsuit I did over a year ago They are both very nicely done by the way.

I think the point is they look like they both were done by the same person regardless of the differences in bootcut/color highlights etc.

Kyrah,
I've seen a lot of your work and I'm very impressed by the hard work and polished results you achieve. You sound really frustrated. I hope that you will continue to play with us here in SL when you get your connection back up to speed. Looking forward to more goodies from you.
And still enjoying the awesome flower door at Phobos Lounge btw. Keep up the good work.
