Sorry if this has been asked before(im pretty sure it has) but I can't find it any where. I want to learn how to create avatar skins within second life. if possible, could you provide some link for tutorials on how to create them, any info would help out. Thanks much.

everything you need is in this forum, so search 'skin' and get reading. ok probably the best way to start is look at the sticky threads at the top of the page, specifically ones on clothes, the process is much the same, only the painting you do off world changes. once you've gone through that and you don't know something, you can better ask specific questions.

Have you ever actually typed 'Skin' in the search box Dekka? Because I have tried that, as well as 'Skin Tutorial', 'Make Skin', etc. As for your suggestion to simply type 'Skin', absolutely nothing to help people learn to make a skin comes up (lots of 'come dance at this nudie club' though). As Jaxon posted, he/she can't seem to find the information anywhere. Meaning they probably have searched the forums. Jaxon, I have searched this forum upside down and found little information, here it is and I really hope it helps you!

This one seems to be the best:

Gee, I typed "Skin" into the search for this forum and got a huge list (but I haven't found the one for "come dance at this nudie club," though :p ). Are you sure you were searching the Texture Tips forum and not somewhere else? Dekka's right. There are loads of helpful suggestions and answers to questions about making skins. All you have to do is take a few days and read. You are right, however, that there don't seem to be many cookbook tutorials out there.

I've collected the most useful blogs (the ones I found useful, anyway) in the left column of my blog.

To find them as a set of links, go to http://seshat-czeret.blogspot.com/ and look under 'Generous Residents'. Most of them are clothing things, but clothing is the same as skins, just on a different layer.

I also have a tutorial on my blog, just use the 'tutorial' tag.

If you don't mind cut-and-paste, try these:

http://www.mermaiddiaries.com/
(general reading - its interspersed throughout the blog)

http://www.robinwood.com/Catalog/Technical/SL-Tuts/SLTutSet.html
(also http://robin-wood.blogspot.com/)

http://eloheliot.blogspot.com/
(She has a set of skin psds she provides free, see the links in her blog)

http://olilas-secondlife.com/
(some very helpful getting-started and setup ideas, particularly)

Unfortunately Olila's website went down a few weeks ago to my dismay , I had just found it and the next day it was gone!
