BOO! ;)

I don't have problems with people saying SL is a game - that might be what it is to them. But saying its ONLY a game, or JUST a game, that's what I find arrogant.

Regards,

-Flip

Well, Flip, to me its a game. :) Since I agree to disagree, SL can be anything, its just like legistating taste, noone can define what SL is to everyone. ZSome might not like the sexual aspects, some might not call it a game, others do.

SL is different for each man, woman and child (on the teen grid), and thats what, in my mind makes it the greatest game ever.

Hey it's good enough to have kept me from going to chat rps lately.

Just watched it from the web, Flip. Thanks for getting it up so quickly.

Congrats to you and Jen on a great appearance. That was arguably the best SL news segment I've seen. You guys looked very natural on camera, and most of the narrative was actually on target, which unfortunately seems to be unusual for TV coverage.

And on a shameless self promotion note, wohoo, they showed my theater! Hope I don't get sued by Whedon for that Buffy poster and DC for that Superman video now. :D

If you're staying in for "amateur night" tonight (that's St. Patrick's Day for those in foreign countries), and really bored, feel free to watch Jennyfur and I on CNBC. We were interviewed by the staff of "On the Money" talking about business and the emerging 3-D realm, and told it would air tonight (there's an off chance it may be bumped until Monday, but not likely). I've also been told there will be some good shots of the LL offices!

Or go out and get wasted, your choice! ;)

Regards,

-Flip

I stayed in and got wasted. Missed it! Let us know when and if it airs again. :)

:D

Glad to know everyone thought it was as terrific as I did, and it wasn't just me! They got an awful lot into a small time-span, without seeming rushed, and a lot of it was all kinds of interesting tidbits guaranteed to appeal to many different goals.

Thank you ALL for the kind words - and constructive criticism - it honestly means a lot. I've posted a low-fi/high(er)-fi version of the video here:

Enjoy. And thanks to everyone who tuned in; what about Philip's new hair cut?! I'd do him.

Thanks for the link, Flipper!

I thought it was a well-done interview as a whole, though of course, I share the common complaint that SL isn't a game per se.

You two did great! Nice shots of SL too - though I note they nicked some footage from the machinima page :p

Just a note. If you don't want to download DivX, there are codecs for Media Player or other viewers that will allow DivX movies to be played, such as:

Brilliant job Flipper, Jennyfur. ^.^ Loved the concrete and positive examples given of just how much and to what potential SL can be used and is being used as a platform today. Heh and Jennyfur? Can totally believe people spending money on those dresses. ^.-

Flip and Jen are such a cute couple, both inworld and offline. :)

I just watched this, and think it will be even more of a treasure in a decade--you know how sometimes we dig up those "The World Wide Web is coming!" or "Welcome to the Internet revolution!" clips and gawk with amazement at what's happened? I feel it'll be the same way here. PIONEERS!

That was a quick shot of the LL offices...

Philip has such a Christopher Walken-like intensity in his eyes.

This was great, I am in the process of showing my entire family! They really don't understand why I sit here all day long making things, they too think "Why the hell does Samantha sit on that damn game all day everyday!?" They think I am lazy and should be out with a "real" job, I tell them countless times that this "game" makes me some good real money, even prooved it this year by doing all my christmas shopping using money made on sl, but they still don't get it, I think once they see this it might get them off my back for a while. Will Smith said it "Parent's just don't understand" Ain't it the truth!

Jenny and Flipper you both did a great job! :D

Here here. :)

Thanks again for all the kind words; but what really struck me while I was giving the interview is just how many cool examples of amazing things there were to give. Its the people who create these wonderful examples that really deserve the credit for making SL such a compelling place! Game or platform, I think that's something we can all agree on!

Its also kind of funny that a show called "On the Money" actually paid attention to more than just the money.

Regards,

-Flip

that was great - it wasn't just about the money, the schools, the corporate applications - it was everything! Well, except maybe the furries.

It's the opposite here. My teenagers just don't understand.
