Real Life Stuff in game

I see we now have an 'anti the change in abortion laws' rally going on on Sunday. This carries on with the 'Impeach Bush' problem that annoys a lot of people too.

Shouldn't we just leave real stuff where it belongs - reality - and stop bringing all this crap into game where it's entirely unnecessary?

It's a game. A chance to escape from all the things that annoy us - like politics. If you want to play that stuff, get your own private sim and play there as much as you like, but don't bring that crap into the game and annoy everyone else who doesn't care.

Why? There is a world outside the US. We don't care about your petty in-squabbling about issues that don't concern us. That's what reality is for.

Um, I think you may have missed the point of what the problem was with "Impeach Bush"....

Regardless of what else "Impeach Bush" created... it is a real life political statement. If it was big ugly purple full bright spinning cubes that lagged the region down, that's not politically motivated - whether that's the main or a sub reason why they are there.

The point is that very few people were annoyed with the words "Impeach Bush". They were annoyed by huge blue and white signs, and land extortion.

Exactly, Ordinal.

It shouldn't matter what people do with their Second Life, as long as they do it in a non-griefing, considerate, non-shitheaded manner, as per TOS and common courtesy (the latter being, unfortunately, unenforceable...which is where we run into problems with those who lack it).

I can't stand the whole abortion debate thing, only because of certain types who come out of the far-right closet when it crops up...but hey, more power to those who want to fight those battles. I don't have to be around it in RL or SL, so yay.

Exactly. If people want to enjoy their SL in this manner so be it.

On the plus side, advertising boards and the Impeach Bush stuff means I can get good land a lot cheaper, and I'm more interested with what's inside my land, rather than outside it.

I appreciate I'm not your average land buyer though. So how about introducing a zoning policy? Residential and commercial zones could be controlled in a similar way to PG/Mature zones, with advertising only allowed in commercial areas? I agree with the above that, it's not so much what it says as how it says it. I'm still undecided whether FL issues should be banned from SL.
(Anyways Bush is a global monster, clearly affecting far more than the USA. Bury your head in the sand @ your own risk).

Aren't your yes and no options the wrong way round, in view of the phrasing of the question?

I partly agree with you in that it should be kept out of SL, but even as a European I do care whether or not Bush is president and American womens right to abortion. It does concern me.

I declare tomorrow "Don't Do Anything Lewis Doesn't Like Day". I think that means you have to pray and write officious, provincial posts.

Dude, you might have to avoid like an entire half sim for like a whole hour or something. Get over yourself.

I didn't hear any bitching about the relay for life expo. One in all in you hypocritical fucktards.

Fuck - if you don't like it or don't agree with - just don't go. Hows that for Pro-fucking-choice.

People should be able to express themselves anyway they wish on land they own... And anyone who says 'well what about a nazi rally then' is a fucking retard looking to pick a fight where none exists.

Oh and I thought it was a pro-choice rally - which is NOT an abortion rally - its about the right to choose, which beleive it or not you pig ignorant fucks - means a choice to NOT have one as much as TO have one.

I just woke up too - my usual jovial skin is taking a shower.

FFS - nuke the friggin forums - its just a huge bowl of weeties that every prick on the planet pisses in first thing in the morn.

Oh and biased polls are retarded.

That is all.

Have a nice day

(packs bags for the cornfield where hopefully there will be some intelligent convo)

If you think SL is a game then it looks like you need to talk to a little friend of mine called Morpheus... he has some really interesting pills.

I think RL is a game and SL is a piece of software I make 3D doodles with, look at things other people have made and occasionally talk to people from other parts of the world.

Lewis, to you SL is a game. To others, it's a business or educational platform, or a virtual world. To many, it's offers the opportunity to do things they can't do in RL.

If ppl want to hold political rallies, even on the subject of abortion, I see no problem with it, as long as they don't blow up an abortion clinic in the process.
