Favorite Club in SL?

Ok this is just out of curiosity. Second Life has been around for three years and clubs have been one of the most common realities in this virtual reality. So the question is this...

As of right now what would you say your favorite club in Second Life is at the moment and why?

For me im gonna say Club Republik because every part of that super club was custom made for the club itself and its original, the staff are friendly, and best of all it has an amazingly small amount of lag for a club of its size. To me it sets the standard for what a Second Life club should be.

So anyone else have a favorite? Post them now with your comments please.

Mine :)

But then again... seventies disco isn't everyone's cup of tea.

I'm biased, but I'm going with Mood Indigo. I fairly proud of the dome thingy I scripted there, and the live music is great. Nethermind and Diz are great hosts and put together some wonderful shows there. Sure, it's my home base, but I like the fact we do actual events; and only about one every week or so.

You're as likely there to end up in a conversation about philosophy as you are to hear a fart joke. :)

Angry Ant Club is the best
but Pleasure Club, Sex Club and many others are nice.

I don't like Barbie Club anymore, because i am baned from there.

Ive been in SL for almost a year. In this time I have seen that in Second Life almost anything can be made. The Lindens make well on their claim that the only limit is your imagination. Second Life therefore has limitless potential.

So why in the heck is Second Life comprised almost entirely of clubs (aka "Shiny boxes with lights), stores, and the occasional casino. Sure there are a few rare exceptions but overall Second Life needs Originality and at least some culture, very very badly.

What I guess im trying to say is; you can do anything in Second Life, so why dont we see more originality? Is that so hard?

Clubs = lag.

There are much more fun things to do than go hang out in some heavily scripted area and walk 2 fps.

Angry Ant, definitely, its probably my favorite just because of the people there. It is busy enough to feel like a club, but its not the complete and utter avie lag hell that Bad Girls or Elite is (well it is when you first load... but once everythings loaded... no lag =D).

I also like that the Ant has such a diverse population of folks there, most clubs tend to cater towards one or two subsets of people. AA currently has a ton of furries that go there, ton of humans, some vampires, three dragons, metalheads, punks and candy ravers. The music is always good, especially if one of our two regular DJ's is going ; )

Heh the way I go on and on you'd think I was on the staff...

I like any club that doesn't run events that have "Best in ___" happening all the time.

I'm curious to know your reasoning for this. In my experience, contests are a great way to show off the outfits you've bought, let a couple of lucky people win a decent amount of money that they might not normally have, and above all give people a chance to socialize and have fun for an hour or two.

By far, my favorite club is the Blue Note in Mocis. Although I am a bit biased on this, I think those who visit the Blue Note regularly will agree that it is the most romantic place to take your partner and dance your evenings away. DJ Naydee, famous for her sultry voice and her extensive Jazz, Swing and Big Band collection, is taking a bit of time off for the summer, but plans to have a big party for the one-year Anniversary of the Blue Note on July 31st.

as someone who has had very little time or previous SL influences on what a SL club should be, when I came to SL, that was my purpose.... to build a club. Not for fame, or money, but because a friend who owns an online radio station asked me to. I jumped into SL, I didn't do a lot of club hopping early on in SL, I just read the forums, took a few building courses to sharpen my skills for SL based building and then went to work.

Now after a month or two of building, I’ve started to go around and look at other clubs. To see what it is they are doing. And I have to say... I’m deeply disturbed on what I have found. There is absolutely no commonality between FL clubs and SL clubs, or at least there doesn't seem to be on the ones I have visited so far. Why is this?

It seems to be 99% of the clubs in SL are cheesy, thrown together by kids with no ideas, and the ones that do actually have good design and texturing are all riddled with casino crap on every other square meter, let alone 5gb of shopping textures within eye sight of the dance floor and lame ass dj's who really do nothing else than drop a few tracks into winamp.

I know, I’m going to get super flamed from all this, and get noticed by some griefers with nothing else to do but try and cage me, but I just don't understand. Here I am trying to build something with a goal, a purpose, and all for nothing other that a place to hang out and listen to some good music with some good friends. And yes I really do I care about how it looks, the lag, and everything else.

So am I just not looking in the right places, are the better clubs out there, more true to FL clubs hidden from the public eye for private social groups?

I’m just curious... where are they?

well my favourite club to date (The Edge) is, despite the casino machines and the advertising, because the people there are friendly. I've only had 2 people give me shit there, out of all the people I've met. (Funnily enough, those 2 people were fellow Furries, coz apparently I'm 'not furry enough' *rollseyes* go figure)

My current favourite club is Hot Licks. The music is rocking, the people are great, and it looks good too.
