About the hentai, I wonder if it is against the TOS to build high walls to block the sight of their UGLY construction and sub it with a better view?
Heck no.

Have a look at the treeline I created for the Coonspiracy land on Noonkkot. There's also some one-way invisiprim panels to hide red-lines and other glowy alpha textures people have put up from time to time (I keep having to move them and add more as parcels turn access controls on and off... it's using up more prims than I care for).

That is a nice way of you to make friends and I don’t think your AR would do a thing for you. Never heard of a resident getting warned for sending TP requests! Especially a newbie!

The first time I asked him politely not to. The second time, I asked him more firmly. The third time it should be obvious that, newbie or not, he didn't listen to what I said and didn't respect my wishes. Maybe you're a doormat who lets people interfere with their online time, but I'm not. I was trying to build and still keep my IM channels open to my friends. I gave him plenty of chances before it reached Stage Red. And someone like you isn't going to make me feel guilty in the least for handling it the way I did.

Keep up the good work! Chasing newbie’s out of Second Life for annoying you

Oh boy, more forum drama. Let's exaggerate and mischaracterize what people say, shall we?

From: someone
Don’t worry I will NEVER send you a TP request! Would not think of sending you a IM.

Thank you, I lay awake all night last night worried about that.

From: someone
If you have trouble with newbie’s send them our way.

I hardly ever have trouble with newbies. I've probably given more advice and landmarks and free stuff away this past week than you've dreamed of. But don't let that interfere with your pointless little bashing fit here. It's not my ass that's showing.

I could care less what you think of me......... To me you are no more or less important that the "Ken" or "Barbi" newbie showing up at the welcome center fresh from the farm. About you restricting IM's to just your "friends" it is no skin off my avatar for you to get this function. Been thinking about it and have decided I could care less what options you want as long as they dont impact me. Keep the green dots on the maps and let me know where my friends are located. It is not about me wanting to restrict you but about me and my friends retaining the functions that we use. If your dot can be removed from your land it does not matter to me as long as I can see dots on my land and the land that is close enough to affect or peep into my land.
I have been very lucky that fate has lead me to a group of GREAT friends in second life. It is the ONLY thing that keeps me. Andy might just reform me one day and cure me of being rude.

I could care less what you think of me.

And yet you felt the need to insult me because I don't like blind, repeated TP offers from people I barely know. Maybe you should just choose not to respond if you could NOT care less.

For me it wasn't fate, it was acting with respect toward other people and not making assumptions about their actions before I understood their reasons. It's a great approach, you know. It even works on these forums. Imagine that.

Let me know how that all works out. I won't hold my breath.

I want to hide their whole build from my view. What I do not see will not bother me! I dislike their group more than words can say! I think the wall will make both of us more relaxed and in the enviroment that we choose.

What is the best way to make a "landscape" wall that would look the best and use the least prims? I think it will have to be at least 40 meters high.

I hope that you get what you want in the way of "privacy". Think you misunderstand me, I dont dislike you just misunderstand you.

Fair enough. Maybe a little less sarcasm would avoid this in the future.

I don't think disabling our ability to communicate or interact while hiding our online status is a good idea. Does YahooIM/MSN/AIM/ICQ do that? No! We simply hide our online status to avoid being spammed by every John/Jane doe who has us on their friends list. All we ask is for this to be possible in SL. Yes i know SL is different then a messenger but we need privacy! I would Kill for some privacy, but i would be banned for shooting.

We made it very clear in our privacy proposals and hundreds of forum topics, that we still want the green mini-map dots to stay. We simply don't want our friends to map-teleport to us using the WORLD MAP (not mini map. BIG DIFFERENCE). If you choose to still believe we want to remove the dots, go ahead and think that... It's not true but if you want to believe it i don't really care. We just want privacy and a efficient friends list.

I state again, I want the green dot on both maps main and mini. I object to anthing else and am positive am not the only one. If you want to make it impossible for your "firends" to find you that is your problem. I want my friends to be able to find me. About the IM's can care less as long as my friends can IM me. If you want to go online just to sit there by yourself it again is your problem not mine.

I dont want to lose functions to make you happy. I dont care if it is only a minor inconvience to me. I agree with change only as long as the change does not affect me. Why is your need for "privacy" greator than my need to communicate and detect perverts and peepers on or next to my property? Also the ability for my friends to find me 24/7 :)

Whatever.. I said we arent trying to remove the green dots... If you wish to ignore and believe otherwise thats your problem... Everything us privacy dwellers want is OPTIONAL! Meaning if you don't want them, DONT USE THEM.

If I read that transcript corectly the Lindens said something about removing the green dot for everone. The transcript was almost inpossible to read! It was like looking at a transcript of the PM and trying to make sense of it!

Oh, If I understand yours a griefer can buy a small lot and use it to peep without worry about being seen.

What is the best way to make a "landscape" wall that would look the best and use the least prims? I think it will have to be at least 40 meters high.
Do what I did with my 4x1 image grid and expand it to 8x4.

Take a (say) 512x1024 texture. Take a 10x10x0.01 transparent-textured prim, apply this to one face, and set the repeats to "0.25 v, 0.125 h". Dup the prim 16 times in a 4x4 grid, and adjust the offsets so they line up. Link it. Dup the linked object, and adjust the offsets to fit the other half of the image. Now you have a 40m high by 80m wide texture wall using 32 prims.

You might be able to reduce it by using the 19m superflat twisted truncated torus trick, but your etexturing problem would be much more complex.

The Linden who wrote that obviusly don't word things properly or wasnt paying attention to everyone, or just wants to find a cheap easy way to handle it (eh lets just kill the whole thing!). Most of us don't want the map dots gone.

I'm not sure where you got that idea from. Any ideas i passed along have nothing to do with map dots being removed or the ability to hide your avatar. Only your online status will be hidden (In the Find menu and Friends Lists).

Ok, so I like the mute on not just the avies but their attachments as well.

I don't know that I'd want to make even the most annoying avie disappear from my view (besides tp'ing away).

I like having the green dots on both maps. Sometimes I am thinking about going to a favorite hangout, and I check it out on the main map to see if anybody is there.

I would like the ability to mute group chat. I have left most groups because of the spam.

It would be a nice feature to be able to appear offline (in find and on profile not on maps) to everybody, only online to friends, or to select friends. This one is an and/or: be able to have a custom message instead of just away/busy. Like Yahoo has a way to customize your availability (like: I'll brb, Oops RL calling).

I also like the ability to restrict other people's cameras from land you own or rent, even if it's just a small portion of the land.

These things would bring a better sense of privacy to SL, since there basically is none right now.

*edit* Oops forgot about the ability to map then tp to people. I'd like to be able to turn that on and off for EACH friend on my list.

~Remember, these are all only my opinions!~

I noticed some differences in how SL works compared to THERE, since i now have a account for both. In THERE you also don't have hidden status but you DO have what i call "LEAVE ME ALONE" mode (Do not Disturb). It's not the same as Busy mode. You can do everything you can normally do except you cannot recieve IMs. When someone looks you up, it shows a red thumbs down icon next to your name.

I also noticed this Forcefield thing as part of the GUI. It's on by default when you create your account. It protects you from shoving and pushing. If someone drives a buggie into you they bounce off, BUT if you walk in front of them YOU bounce off. If they shoot you, it has no effect on you. I know we have shields in SL but they are scripted by users who built weapons that counter them, not part of the interface, cost money, very bad for sim lag, and dont get the job done. Forcefield makes you completely unpushable, no lag, come with your account, and has no visability on your avatar.
