What do trolls have to do with the number of SL accounts in a household?

Actually, I don't find the actual thread too constructive, being that it seems to have been hijacked by certain trolling efforts. However, the poll results do catch my eye which was the purpose of this thread in the first place.

Had certain individuls posted thoughts on the topic, rather than seeking to insult me, it just might have been constructive. That's one good way to kill a thread...post off-topic and criticize the individual who created the thread.

I don't mind telling you that between myself and my SO we have 4 accounts. One alt each. I tried to get a 3rd account last year (sometimes you want to be able to log in without being bombarded lol) but was denied. I don't know why since we are supposedly allowed 5 accounts per household and different cards were used.

Hi Selene and thanks for sharing. After speaking with others about it, I have noticed an inconsistency in being able to create additional accounts which is why I posted. It's funny how some can have 8 accounts and people like yourself can't even get the five (5) that they say you can create.

Wonder what happens if you move and somebody buys your house. Guess they can't get on SL.

Funny you should mention that. I'm in the process of selling my home now... wonder if I'll be able to get my 3rd account once I have a new address? lol

I wonder, can you just start over after you move? Maybe they should use social security numbers or something and make it 5 accounts per SSN or 3 or something like that. (Then again maybe not) I really do not think that the 5 per household is too fair.

I can't say I think it's fair ot unfair really. Some households have more than 5 people living in them and they could conceivably all be/want to be residents of SL. I really don't like the idea of using SSNs though. Just another way for Big Brother to keep track of what I do online. I already have to give it out against my will for all kinds of things that it really has no bearing on. One telephone company gives you a choice...either pay a hefty deposit of give them your SSN. Pretty crappy way of dealing with customers IMO. It all goes back to the "I'm not just a number I am a person" thing. I think, since you have to give your RL name to get an account that maybe the should place the limit on a per person basis. Even so, that is still no real solution as anyone could use a false name.

Looks like the way they have things set up (I did read your other thread) is about the only way to handle it. They just need to be more consistent somehow.

One thing would help solve some of these problems, and I understand its in the works??? ... that would be to make deleted accounts REALLY get deleted and the slot get reopened for a new alt to occupy.

Still only 5 slots per household, but then you could at least dump the AVs you nolonger want to use.

Using SSNs would be an incredibly aweful risk of privacy... not to mention that most of the world does not use SSNs.

True, which is why I said "Then again maybe not)" afterwards. It was just a point I was trying to make. I do not think I would enjoy having to give up my SSN either. It's just that this current system doesn't work...for me anyway.

Good point. I don't understand what all the fuss is over deleted accounts. What's so hard about making them go poof? I only wish they would stop looking at every situation with a "cookie cutter" perspective. Perhaps if I buy up a couple hundred islands they'd handle it on a "case by case" basis...LOL.

Yep, the 194,000+ number of users they talk about reaching is because it's like pulling teeth to get LL to actually cancel an account rather than just mark it Basic. Any realistic house-cleaning of unused accounts would see that number closer to 15,000 than 200,000.
