From: Aliasi Stonebender Gor may have sex, but Exalted has stoner dinosaurs that pee heroin. 'sides, don't you need to feed them dinosaurs with opium to get the heroin pee? One more reason to choose Exalted: Moray Darktide <3 <3 <3 (he is mine mine MINE!!) Plus Lunars. Nothing spells kinky sex than a mate who can shape shift to anything you want them to be. Animal, man or woman. Plus they have stamina to go on forever. They also have the perfect birthcontrol method (if it's female).

The artist has a companion piece on DeviantArt showing their first age incarnations. The one that got me was Arianna's (the example Twilight) first age incarnation was, apparently, an anorexic winged woman in a leather bikini. And normally, gratuitous cheesecake fantasy pictures bother me in that kind of situation, save when someone pointed out that First Age Solar Exalted are exactly the kind of person to say "I think I'll give myself the body of a winged supermodel, wear leather swimwear, and chop up anybody who annoys me with a big gold sword today."

What a coincidence! My boyfriend just showed me those pictures just now when I posted my reply. We were wondering just how and why Arianna had those wings but yeah, given they're First Age Solars, not surprising. These are the same kind of folks who can go head to head alone against an entire army...and win. (Given the fact they killed Primordials--makers of gods-- with their bare hands speaks nothing of what these bastards can do) I once thought of going around with a Solar Caste symbol burning on my forehead (preferably Twilight) in SL but the prospect of explaining what Exalted is or Role-Playing that isn't about being in a nurse's outfit with leather cuffs just pretty much discouraged me from doing it.

From: Talon Lardner I was thinking of a certain other topic, and it got me to wonder about RPing in Second Life. Is the gorean sims truely the "best act" in second life as far as it goes in immersive roleplay? Or is there other active groups out there who can act out their stories? They don't have to have their own sims, perhaps only to don their gear to "raid" a defended castle, to pretend to be explorers exploring an ancient tomb, or other sorts of scenarios where you are always assumed to be a character and not the man or woman behind the keys. definitely the best act in town. really well developed immersive sims compared to the norm and very clear role playing guidelines and guidelines to recieve visitors. i learned today that they are not big fans of toast, though. sidebar: iron, i don't know how it can be fairly categorized as anything but roleplaying misogyny. i landed in port cos today and recieved a notecard that clearly outlined the second class and exploited status of women in their sim.

common misconception..
Gorean Free Women are honored for their traits..
those traits being: Patience (not mouthing off on the spur of the moment), tactfulness (not being rude to others), poise (remaining calm and steady during moments of stress), and understanding (paga dens -bars- are not a proper ladies place).
FW can tell a FM they are 'behaving obtusely' and only the more hot headed or foolish man would try to collar for it, but a woman cannot tell a man 'go suck an egg' without the threat being levied on her. That threat , that line, keeps the mouthy women and the preoper ladies seperate. Gorean FW actually remind me of noblewomen, no matter what class they come from (low caste, high caste, baker, seamstreess, scribe..). Its the innate poise and overall grace of the true Gorean FW..and its a beauty to behold, no matter how cold hearted she may be.

From: Aliasi Stonebender ... I was using the game Unknown Armies and the sample scenario Bill in Three Persons. UA itself is a modern-day game of "transcendental horror and furious action", to quote the website. I chose this for several reasons: ... The upside was, it seemed to be great fun for all involved. The downside was, I found a lot of people in SL have no conception of small-group, rule-bound roleplaying in the form of RPGs, so I had to take half my time explaining the basic concepts. Also, it required a lot of prep time... but if you were running a continuous game, or opening it up to be even more LARP style in a single prebuilt environment, it would be significantly less. I was going for extremes because, hey, experiment! I am familiar with UA, yes. Two point I never had considered: the use of the "Holodeck" to support play (I have never tried the VR Cube) and the GM acting as NPC by changing shape and/or clothes. The latter is fairly interesting, because it's what we basically do at the game table, by adopting voices, mannerisms or even using props, but I had this mental image of playing a RPG in SL as something more akin to Live Roleplay. In the 80s I remember a couple of commercial attempts (in UK at least) to create RPGs with live extras, usually hosted in castles or woods. I wonder if this would be possible in SL, possibly by paying people to work as NPCs. Thanks for the explanation though, definitely food for thought.

Exalted sounds like it might be an interesting venue to RP in, especially in world. I'd be interested in exploring if anything does come of it. OTOH, I have some gripes against WW right now (mostly on a personal level....)
I'm still busy just exploring the world and what can be done in it, let alone using as a platform for other things -- but the concept has definitely caught my imagination.

I personally love Exalted at times, when I'm in a real power gaming mood. I mean..the game literally calls most of the enemies 'extras' stating you simply mow through them, they are so weak, with extremely little damage from them..basically a target to show off you '1337' moves. Its the main bad guys that can measure op.. so its kind of like making a real action movie, and its beautiful.
Not for me fulltime but at time..its absolutely amazing. Given the arhetecture of the SL rpg and its ability to support other rpgs..and how falling , animations etc are done, LARP Exalted may be possible.

I created a Discworld group with the idea of gathering people interested in building a themed sim but never found time to pursue it. I believe the group is still there if anyone wants to make use of it and go for the sim. There's also a Turtle Moves group but I don't know what activities they have.

Thanks for the strong advice, all! I'll make sure to dig through all this information. I already started exploring Nexus Prime, and I am completely amazed by the place. Nexus allowed me to actually EXPLORE a place for once, and I don't think I have even found most of its secrets yet.

I was surprised at the low level of Dragon Ball Z roleplaying in SL, considering all other online games have tons of them (and 85% of them want to be Trunks). Of course, roleplaying as someone NOT named after a DBZ character means one has to pretend to be a distant relative...

...i'm totally intrigued by the three new rosario sims which have just come online and are in development in the far southwest of the islands... ...it's some kind of world-building roleplaying, fictitious national histories and such, something extensively developed over at least the past four years but only just now moving to SL, with scores of new users just now joined in a mass immigration...through google i couldn't find much of a comprehensive overview beyond what look to be a couple of quasi-scholarly studies, but here are a few websites which serve to pique my intrigue even further... Marinetta Ombro project (Rosario) Leage of Worlds world-building group (includes Rosario) ...given the dearth of a grand description of the project and its context, i'd love to read a marinetta ombro project member step in this thread and fill us in on their plans - it looks fascinating!..and my compliments on the intitial RAW terrain layout - really nice and realistic multi-sim terrain modelling is so seldom seen in SL...

Star Trek RP
03-03-2006 05:38
There is a new sim called Galaxy (128,128,100) that is under developemnt right now. It will be a full time Star Trek RP.
Players will be able to live there and be totally immersed in the Star Trek experience. In addition to the houses, there is a Head Quarters building, a Deep Space 9 type saucer and a Enterprise saucer section is in the works.
The group also runs speciifc RP's every Tuesday at 6:30 PM SLT, with more in the planning stages. Stop by and explore, there is ussually a Trekie around to answer any questions.

I mean, to each their own, but in CoH there was a period where you couldn't move without tripping over SuperSaiyanDude or KakorottoPersonLOL... don't see them as much any more, but then again I don't play as much City of Heroes as I used to.

I shall look her up next time I'm in. Bah! I actually completely forgot about my mental note over the weekend, between running around on Caledon, rebuilding my tower in Acontia, and working on some new mandalas (one of which would actually make a good base for an alchemical banner, with some minor tweaks).

There's a lot of love for the Alchemical Exalted. o_o Isn't anyone out there going to give some love to the Abyssals? A bleeding caste mark sounds just as cool as a glowing one.

(Though I personally go more for the "dark light/dark energy" style of Abbie caste marks.) To be honest, though, I'm not a terribly big fan of WW's somewhat limited take on them (I formed my opinions of them before their book came out); in the words of RPGnet, "I like the idea of Abyssals as truly well-meaning Champions of Death, fighting the Living to save them from their inferior non-Dead existance." And now that we've spent our essence on the Immovable Thread Derailment Pose(ball) charm...

well to put the thread back on tracks (sorry I like to be annoying and rerail derailed threads juste for the fun of it ) if I had the land and building talent I'd love to make a ravenloft themed sim with "the mists" dividing different themed parcels in different timelines. as a Ravenloft GM myself I find a world were PC are the targets and prefered victims way more interesting that the ones where they are over powerfull and able to cut a man's head with a fingernail
