As soon as the grid gets back up, I'm off to caledon!

As far as Crimson Falls goes, it seems pretty cool so far, the regulars are nice, the builds are excellent, the shopping's nice, and I LOVE the Leeroy Jenkens diner! The regulars there are pretty cool, and seemed to have a excellent concept of their character (Even when I'm still stumbling, trying to figure out what mine is all about.)

And anyone who hasn't checked out the new New Holstice should check it out right now. That sim is BEAUTIFUL! Can't speak for the RP yet, and I'm not sure if I will be able to RP there (I don't know how to make my human avi look oriental and not a samauri with Tennis shoes and a five-o-clock shadow), but at least I can take a solid virtual breather there.

I began a themed 19th century sim Friday evening - my first attempt at such a thing. A small nation-state with bigger aspirations than territory.

The sim became available to me Friday, it was open to the public Sunday and was full by Tuesday, now with a waiting list - wow - what happened!?

To my pleasant surprise I was instantly bombarded by IM's and questions on the street for where to find clothes and such; people *really* got into it.

I've met extraordinary professors and lady victorian mice, shopkeepers, gothic landed genty, scientists, tinkerers and practitioners of witchcraft.

The steampunk community (which I'd never met before) are present with a vengeance, setting up some incredible things, and I can barely wait myself to see how it develops.

This is just one data point - but it seems that themed sims work beyond wildest expectations.

Last week, I was wondering if I'd be financially stuck with a 195 USD / month white elephant. This week I'm wondering how fast I can add more sims. Will it fade in a few weeks? Is there a huge pent-up demand? I honestly don't know.

To add icing to the cake, the positive energy generated by people doing their thing is the most rewarding experience I've had in Second Life so far. I'd recommend the experience to anyone.

...and yes, I've seen a few ladies flash a bit of ankle in the sim already *wink wink nudge nudge!* :)

Back before i came to SL i used to be in Furcadia. I used to be involved in a lot of Furry RP's and even had my own Wolf Clan "House of Darkfang". Soon enough everyone stoped coming online so i disbanded it and went my own way. I really loved that project though. But when i came to SL, it all became off topic. I have seen no RPing in SL in my year and a half other then 1 or 2 people choosing to be in character as they walk around in out of character places. I do admire them for making that gesture but it takes more then 1 to make it a RP. Most people you talk to in SL are out of character.

One time i did make a human alt and visit a grean sim. I did like the roleplay but i was scared to get in on it cuz it wasnt really to my liking. I didnt like the whole "dont go there or you will be killed or slaved" thing. I want to walk freely and do my own thing. I went to a gorean sim that had a huge ridable bird like the ones from EQ2. I liked that and even tried to make one of my own. Well from my experiance in SL theres not much to do if your not a gorean or a furry. Probably why you guys hate us so much. All i seen was clubs and malls and casinos. >.>

I agree with and or endorse fully this idea and or product...

Seriously...Caledon has been one of the best RP experiences I have had to date in SL, and is a very friendly and beautiful sim. I highly encourage anyone with an interest in the Victorian period, the steampunk genre, things Lovecraftian, or just meeting lovely people to drop by and check it out.

Wow!

I'm so embarrassed... *blush*

Really, Caledon has been what people have made it - I am honoured.

Well, now it's time for me to truly get to business; Guv'nah Linden has delivered the Caledon Highlands sim in a mere four days since I've ordered it, thus catching me with my nicely tailored pants down.

Who expected THAT!? My Caledon Academy for Virtual Wizardry isn't even finished yet!

So I'm off to go terraform a sim and will be on 'busy' for a few days. I've got sixteen prebooked new residents and all their friends and family eagerly waiting.

Aye I spend quite a bit of time hunting in Caledon Dressed in my airpirate outfit looking for steampunkish stuff. Haven't actually bought more than a few guns but I think once the money comes along I shall be properly ironed up. Now I just need to go read up on steampunk jargon to match my Fantasy and Cyber lingo.

Also discovered Liberty whihc while definitely an adult area with heavy BDSM undertones(including ponygirl stuff) is still a fun place to hang and RP. Especially since they let me be a furry AND wonder around armed with enough bladed implements to make...uhmm something signifigant with a lot of sharp edges jealous.

Also been cruising Nexus Prime but no one ever talks to me or even takes non push potshots at me. Though getting lost in the sewers was fun.

ponygirls are part of fantasms, it can also be only a roleplay ,
some are pulling a cart like you make jogging, but i am not sure it's is "heavy Bdsm".

all ponies are not masochist and drivers are not sadistic, surely not.

to become a pony, it's a gift you makes to someone.
but it's also a dream in wich you enter and discover unbelievable pleasures .

you can be a good pony, and don't have knowledge about knots and bondage.

lovely idea...
i suppose they host generously all visitors,
specialy those with good health and fleshy body.

there are so many people who play to make themself afraid...
or to make other people terrified.
but it would be delicious to have a cup of tea with Sir Lestate .

I admit to a bit of surprise that I haven't encountered any Pern RPers in Second Life -- it's a theme that's kind of kinky (what with dragon matings and stuff), aquisitive (I want to Impress a Gold Dragon!) and generally revolves around social RP.

Plus, you get to ride a flying dragon and live in an extinct volcano.

I think it'd be pretty cool, but it'd require some pretty extensive investments to get going properly, I should think. At a minimum, scripted & animated dragons and a fair amount of artistic design work.

(It's also possible that I'm overestimating the popularity of these books based on my own misspent youth...)
