Bye Bye DI!!

I have to admit..
I am glad to see the DI go (Developer Incentive) I have been a regular recipient of the DI and have stood by and watched dwell become "gamed" by camping chairs and dancepads.

Maybe now LL will come up with a program that will reward those who use creativity, ingenuity and imagination to attract avatars to their builds/shops/clubs.

I have removed my post because it will do very little to help those who depended on Dwell to pay for their sims, bring it back.

Who is the Star Chamber? Is that like the Chamber of Commerce and do they throw a nice luncheon?

The Star Chamber is a group that seems to be in charge, yet are not placed in power by normal means.

And what about those, who never had camping chairs (Which were legal, there was nothing in the books against them nothing at all) and who depended on Dwell to help pay for their sims...

Oh yes, what about those that were told and promissed that Dwell would be around for years? They paid for and bought their sims based upon this promiss. They feel left in the lurch now.

I await the numerous groundless lawsuits that are certain to be filed for perceived "damages" smaller than the relevant filing fees. You wouldn't by any chance happen to know what contract is allegedly breached, would you?

Lets hope the next idea is better and the asshats wont game it. To all those who are openly moaning they never had camp chairs and they need their DI. Dont bitch to LL. Find the Owners of the top 5 places on the favorites list and torch them- they and their cohorts did this. LL just stopped it.

Perhaps if people were more interested in providing a quality experience, and not how much real cash they could make out of a GAME, then the balance might change anyway?

DI was based on traffic, which was fluid anyway. If your whole private sim had nothing of interest on it, you wouldn't get visitors and their L$. Spending beyond your means and including a DI payout that may or may not have been part of your income is poor accounting.

Each month my salary arrives in the bank, which is pretty much the same each month. I can't go out and buy a new TV on the thought that I might just win £5000 on the lottery during that month - I wait until my finances are built up enough so I can buy it. It's not rocket science.

The biggest problem with the DI system is that the more land you own, the more visitors you get - which, as we all know, size isn't everything. Many of the smaller places I have seen have much more interesting content than the so-called "most popular places" in game, which are mostly laggy clubs. If the bonus was calculated on something such as:

Traffic x 1000 / sqm of plot

Then you'd get a far more accurate picture of the true traffic rather than the catchment area of a plot. I'm lucky if my traffic hits 100 in a day, on my 2000 sq m plot - but at least I know that every visitor that appears is there because they have picked it, rather than how much I am paying them to sit there for hours on end.

I think that LL should randomly reset regions that are full of campers, so that the genuine players can go back there if they want to - and the zombies don't benefit, who after all are the real reason we have seen this change occur.

Ya know, I was bored yesterday and had a little $L burning a hole in my pocket. Said to self, "Self, we haven't needlessly shopped in awhile, lets go browse!" I was hoping to head to a lag-free private sim with top designers...I am so out of the loop these days now though.

One thing I DID know was that I did not want to patronize any lag-hole with campers.
Searched Popular Places and in Find for a good 15 mins...ahhh finally found one that didn't advertise camping, off I went only to land in the middle of...you guessed it...a lag-hole of campers! Ok on second glance they WERE advertising camping, but I hadn't even noticed cause the rest of their ad seemed enticing enough.

After multiple relogs and tons of time spent waiting for stuff to rez, I left after an hour or more of lagging torture without spending a single $1L. Call me old-school, but this is for the birds.

DI is a wonderful idea but not under its present rules & regs...there is has GOT to be a way to give rewards where rewards are merited. And you thought RATINGS were gamed back in the day??? LMFAO!

ATTN: MALL/STORE OWNERS....if you have camping crap set up, I will NOT be giving you my business or dwell/ traffic/whatever the fuck its called now. I am only one person, but I believe I speak for many.

I was hoping for a lifestyle flamewar, because I dislike Goreans and wanted to cheer someone on. But that won't actually help the topic at all, so I guess I shouldn't start one. *pouts*

Has there been any word on a replacment for DI? I'm cool with losing my 5L a day from having a 2000 traffic house but there are some nice places supported by dwell that are worth keeping.

No word for us commoners. Don't know what rumors have leaked, either.
